Chapter 144: A Shocking Night
Inara exhaled softly. “Enjin is one of the rare few with a summon that can bend reality, creating a domain that suits it. Once that domain is created, I doubt Isshin would stand a chance. The defense of their tortoise is also nearly impenetrable, it countered Isshin’s katana in the past.”

“It was time Arian proposed the fight. The cohort must have placed Enjin in the same league with him. It’s high time we all see and know the truth. Who’s stronger,” Orion stated calmly.

Arian’s Oni Ronin, Isshin, slowly unsheathed his katana. The moment he did, the air became restless, like a hurricane was nearby. His hakama fluttered, as did his waist-length gray hair.

Enjin’s tortoise took a step, and the battlefield began to transform into a swamp with twisted trees. Isshin swiftly leaped to one of the tree branches, vanishing before the branch could entwine itself around his feet.

Everything in the swamp domain would act against Enjin’s foes. Mid-air, Isshin swung the katana at a speed the eyes couldn’t follow before slowly sheathing it as he descended onto a black tree branch, but it didn’t attack him this time.

Inara’s eyes widened at the clean cut that had gone through the great wall of the arena just behind the tortoise.

“Y-You’re not a Throne Tier…” Enjin spat blood as his mountain of a tortoise split into two clean halves.

“Saint Tier,” Dax said softly, yet his supposed calm voice couldn’t conceal his awe.

Arden watched Enjin collapse like a leaf and crossed her arms. “Captain showed no mercy this time around.”

Arian walked out from the safe spot in the battlefield, speaking as he walked. “If they had been handing over those that would cause greater issues, Paradise might not have survived for this long! Know this, we’re all fugitives! Wanted by the outside world. Trust is what keeps us! Break it, and Paradise falls.”

His voice rang loud.

At night, Godfrey sat on the edge of the bed, gently tucking his mother in. She chuckled. “Since when did you become this mature?”

“I’m eighteen,” he replied, leaning close to peck her forehead. Rising to his feet, Godfrey went toward White, who lay beside the window, and caressed the stag’s head.

It gently closed its eyes, and Godfrey smiled warmly. He turned to his mother, who was still looking at him for the last time, before pursing his lips.

Valentina giggled. “Go to your room, young man.”

“I’m going, I’m going!” Godfrey waved his hand and shut the door.

Outside, Mountain stood there.

Overload stressed the bond between summoner and summon, so Ballista was temporarily retrieved into the soul space to recuperate.

Godfrey went straight to Victoria’s room and knocked.

“It’s open,” Victoria said.

The moment Godfrey stepped in, he found her doing press-ups in her nightwear. She continued her exercise but frowned when it was over two minutes and Godfrey had not said a word.

“What?!” Victoria snapped.

“It’s been months. I was admiring your workout,” he replied, walking over to the desk and handing her a water bottle. As Victoria chugged it down, Godfrey sat on the bed.

“You’re like someone I knew.”

Victoria looked at him from the corner of her eye. “You mean Isolde.”

“Yes,” Godfrey replied as Victoria sat beside him and crossed one leg over the other. “If she’s as you told me, your lovely princess should be thinking about you in a comfortable bed. You’re probably in her dreams.”

Godfrey scoffed.

Victoria smirked. “Say to my face that you don’t wish she’s thinking about you, even after a year of not communicating.”

Godfrey didn’t reply.

Isolde stood in the colosseum, on golden sand under the dark starry sky, puffing softly with an ice spear in hand.

Her body glistened with sweat and slight dirt. About twenty king-tier gladiators wielding different weapons lay on the floor in pools of their own blood, their blood frozen on the golden sand.

A champion with exaggerated muscle mass, clad in armor that glistened like diamond on one part of his body, stood behind a portcullis with a Thracian gladiator helmet hiding his face. This twelve-feet-tall fighter held a gladius and shield.

He was the boss of this dungeon.

Isolde’s black skirt fluttered as she spun the ice spear before holding it with the tip pointed toward the ground.

Her glowing golden-orange eyes locked on the three remaining king-tier gladiators who lunged at her with swords and shields.

Isolde dashed toward them, stabbed her spear into the ground, lifting herself above the gladiators. Her fingers slid to the bottom of the spear and tightened her grip as she somersaulted over them.

Mid-air, Isolde spun her spear like a helicopter blade, decapitating all three gladiators before landing. She flipped her hair as they staggered and fell.

With a fierce roar, the main boss charged out as the portcullis rose. Sand and dust burst outward in a wave-like pattern with each step the champion took.

He lifted his sword and cleaved open a massive gash. His eyes searched for Isolde, but she was already above him, massive dragon wings spreading wide like ship sails.

The ice spear extended, piercing through the champion’s helm and stabbing the ground. When it seemed like the champion had died, he suddenly grabbed the spear, broke it, and pulled it out.

The champion swung his sword, unleashing a roar that caused a gale so fierce Isolde was swept far, but she absorbed the impact with her feet as she hit a wall.

Cracks spread out, shattering a good portion of the colosseum.

She shot into the sky as the champion leaped, swinging his sword at where she once stood.

His eyes followed the girl who was already beside him, throwing what looked like a punch, but she suddenly opened her hand, revealing a small violet orb.

A great explosion roared. A harsh gale able to shake the foundations of skyscrapers swept across the entire stadium as half the colosseum was wiped out by the violet beam.

“It’s been twelve minutes since she entered the Throne Tier green gate. Should we send reinforcements?” a policeman asked his comrade. A bunch of them stood outside a stadium with many others, making sure people stayed away.

“Guilds are here, we sh—”

The other policeman couldn’t finish as a green ripple flickered over the stadium and Isolde walked out, fixing her earbuds.

“She cleared an arena-type Throne Tier green gate in twelve minutes?!”

Isolde paused before both men. “I can’t sleep. Are there more dungeons?”

Their faces changed.
