Chapter 311: | 311 | Plotting the World’s Destiny from the Citadel
In the apex of the towering Citadel piercing through the heavens was the office of the United World Government’s Authority. It was the peak of humanity’s architecture and design, puncturing through ten kilometers after being augmented by the excess resources of the growing country. Inside were the four pillars of the nation, whether it’d be economically, politically, militarily, and influentially.
Abraham lounged in his office chair, observing at the expanding city below the Citadel. This was the true capital of the United World Government, and it was stretching as far as the eyes could see. Strategic ships hovered above the skies while massive cannon batteries lay hidden underground. It was practically the safest place in the primordial world, the bastion of Freedom.
Before him was the current Prime Minister of the World Government, Charlotte. Her expression was calm, her face radiated an aloof beauty, while her thighs shifted as she adjusted her position with ease. “Reporting about current state of the nation, Abraham.” Her lips curved into a smile as she placed a couple of files over his table.
Usually, it shouldn’t be her duty to personally report the much needed information to the Authority. Instead, the intelligence officers of Citadel would be relied upon to do their duties. However, the current reports were different as they contained information that was highly classified even to the higher echelons of the World Government and the United Military.
“Is there a problem?” Abraham furrowed his eyebrows as the darkness of the office shaded half of his face. Only his eyes remain to be seen, creating a sense of oppression. Although, Charlotte didn’t seem to be bothered about it and maintained a sense of indifferent carefree attitude. “Yes, the United World Government is plateauing in terms of stability.”
“From now on, we could only maintain our current state or fall to instability. Mercedes has also reported various movements within Europa. It seems that the old races are finally beginning to make a move. The dawn of war has risen from the horizon. It could only get worse.” Her words echoed through the dimmed office followed by an eerie silence.
The old races were the elven and dwarven kind of the primordial world. They have been rooted in their respective continental regions, but were steadily being invaded by the League of Humanity. Usually, the only thing they could do was resist as total war risked annihilation. But the emergence of the United World Government tipped the scales to their favor.
They were finally acting and moving against the Sovereigns. It was only a matter of time until an alliance between the differing factions were established. After all, the League of Humanity wasn’t to be underestimated. They were the hegemon of the primordial world, standing near the throne of all. Sadly for them, an outside faction was planning to sit upon this pinnacle. And there was nothing they could do about it.
“Our weapons of mass destruction have been positioned to secured areas. All of them could target anywhere of the vast continent, but once we fired a single one. It would be the horns of total war that follows. Continue governing our territories and ensure our borders are tight.” Abraham calmly ordered her, earning a smile from the Prime Minister. “It will be done, Abraham.”
“What are you being so formal about? It’s not like anyone’s nearby. There’s only the two of us in this office.” He smirked at her before chuckling. “It seems that being in the office for quite a while has mellowed you out. Hmm… What shall be done?” When she heard him, Charlotte merely grunted and left his office with an annoyed pout.
After Abraham was left alone in the summit of the Citadel, he glanced towards the expansive city below him. Since the beginning, he understood the path he needed to take. The moment he took on the mantle of freedom and built the United World Government from its foundation. The future was set. The World Government was destined for supremacy.
Not only for its safety, but also for the freedom of all. Beliefs, ideologies, and morality. The mental cornerstone of any society. To make humans of Europa understand the excellence of his path. He must drag them from their throne and meet eye to eye. Until then, peace was but a moment before war. Diplomacy would be useless, unless he desired for compromise.
But Abraham was never the man who compromises himself or his people for the so-called peace. It was either that or war. The attack of the southern tip of Europa wasn’t without reason. It was the introduction of a great war that was about to come. He needed to get stronger. To face the Sovereigns he had long to destroy and unshackle humanity from.
“All of the fleets are in position. Even those expeditionary fleets in the Frontier are prepared. The higher echelons of the United Military are aware of the upcoming great war. The industries in the World Government are also prepared to shift to a war economy.” He didn’t dare to underestimate their adversaries. While their technology might be lesser than theirs, the Magus Tower was an organization that had lasted for centuries.
Its secrets were deep alongside its Sovereigns.
“But it’s not like I’m fighting this war alone. I have allies that could be trusted and resources capable of supporting the United World Government for two decades without production.” Abraham was thoroughly prepared to handle whatever emerge from the incoming disaster. What he found troublesome was the actions of the Sovereigns. Although he and Laplace could handle them, they were only two powerhouses.
For this reason, he created doomsday weapons that could hurt those bastards. The United Military wouldn’t be as useless against them. Capable of fighting back even without the assistance of Laplace and himself. But the effectiveness of the weapons remained in question. After all, the delivery of such arsenal wasn’t instantaneous. Even with the utilization of spatial transmission, it could only handle it once before becoming unstable.
As he stood up from his comfortable chair, Abraham walked towards the elevator, intending to head towards the City of Dawn. For some reason, he was nostalgic since it was where everything began. In a crescent island unknown to the wider world, the Port of Dawn was established and the United Navy was form. The edges of his lips curved into a subtle smile.
He didn’t know where the future was heading. He was ignorant if the choices he had chosen was the best for his country. But it doesn’t matter as the present was as troublesome as it was. Whatever problems occur was for the future him to handle. Nothing more, nothing less. Stepping inside the elevator, he descended to the Foundation of the Citadel.
“Perhaps, I should have them return to the interiors of the United World Government. Staying in the Frontier is dangerous. It isn’t as heavily surveilled as the central sea regions of the world Government.” The Frontier remained independent from the United World Government. He didn’t make a move since the so-called bestial deities have been quiet. Too quiet.
“I should have our intelligence agencies investigate that region.” He shook his head and continued descending from the summit of the Citadel. Although the elven mage was extremely powerful, he didn’t want his daughter to be roaming around during an upcoming war. It was foolish, and he was ignorant whether the Sovereigns were aware of her or not. Better not test fate.
Above the Citadel were strategic ships guarding the skies of the expansive city. All of them were the latest iteration of the warship technology, capable of much more and contained double the firepower of their strongest warships. These strategic ships spanned a kilometer and were considered as the capital ships of the United World Government.
Not only that, each one of them were armed with the doomsday weapon whose name remained unknown to the general public. But such a weapon has already been tested and it was known by the higher-ups as the Island Sinker. It was already utilized in the Frontier under the guise of the expeditionary fleet. Regardless, it was highly confidential.
Only those trusted by the Authority and his confidants were expounded of the truth. After all, it was a weapon that none must know until the hymns of war. Abraham didn’t want the League of Humanity developing the same weapon to counter them. He didn’t want a mutually assured destruction scenario. It was either the League of Humanity or the United World Government.
The primordial world must be united for the peace of those within it. Even the old races were included within his targets. But as said before, that was for the future him to handle. For now, the League of Humanity and their Sovereigns must be defeated during the great war.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the frontier was the strongest mage of the primordial world, the elf known as Athea. She was currently residing in an unknown island alongside her disciples. They were investigating an underground behemoth known as Island Eater. It was recorded by the seismic specialists who had scattered highly sensitive equipment throughout a hundred islands.
It has been weeks since the existence of the creature was proven to be true. According to some intelligence officers, its estimated length could be over a hundred kilometers with a diameter of tens of kilometers. It was gargantuan, far more larger than the Dragon of Liberation, Laplace.
“Teacher, it seems that the Island Eater has been injured. Whatever the admiral dropped within the sinkhole of the recent sunken island was highly effective against the monster.” Tiamat opened her eyelids and reported to the elven mage. She had grown much more stronger, her magicraft far more refined than before.
