Chapter 467: Chapter 462: Dance of Shadows and Flame
A barrage of attacks cooperated with each other so well that it became a sea of fire, with three lethal attacks hidden, moving toward the wolf from all sides. But opposite of what one might think, there was a smile on the wolf’s face—the game was just starting.

Kaida, who had been watching this whole thing from far away with his 3 tomoe Sharingan activated, suddenly activated his MS, because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

The fight was happening at the bottom of the mountain, which was the pack’s home. The area was surrounded by many mountains, including the one the pack had made its house.

Resulting in many shadows being created in the area, and when the attacks were just about to hit the wolf, the shadows suddenly became alive, like some living creature. Moving at the will of their master, they surrounded the wolf’s whole figure.

And that was not the end of it. Suddenly, the wolf started descending into the shadow—not into the ground, but directly into the shadow. With the distance between Kaida’s clone and the wolf, it only had the time of a few milliseconds before the attack would hit it.

But the wolf took less time than a blink to shroud himself in shadow and sink into the ground, and it was only thanks to MS that Kaida was able to see all that.

‘That was cool as hell,’ Kaida thought, and soon all of the attacks landed on the place the leader was standing. Kaida noticed how every other wolf was nonchalant about that, meaning they knew their leader would be able to dodge that attack. So either they knew all about their leader…

‘Or all of the wolves are capable of doing this,’ Kaida thought, now understanding a little why Hagoromo had imprisoned them here.

Even a minor ninja village would fall under the attack of this pack, and major villages would face catastrophic losses in a fight. Compared to them, there was no chance for a normal person at all.

Boom, slash, punch All of the attacks landed on the area their target was standing on, slashing, piercing, and burning the poor ground, but Kaida’s eyes were not even looking toward that area. He was scanning the whole fighting arena for the wolf.

And soon he noticed where he was, when the shadow just behind his shadow clones became alive, and from it emerged a massive claw directly targeting the back of the neck of the clone, and going back to the shadow the next second.

Poof, poof, poof Soon five more shadow clones got dispersed.

“That was a nice warm-up. Now how about coming out to fight for real this time?” the wolf said.

“Fine, I was getting bored as well, though those are some cool abilities you got there,” Kaida said, finally standing up from his hiding place, which was made with a simple concealment array. Truly, genjutsu and fuinjutsu combined are way too overpowered.

“Thanks. Now get ready.” The wolf vanished and appeared just behind Kaida—not the shadow technique but just pure speed enhanced by too much chakra.

Clang

“Do you really think I will fall for that?” Kaida asked, blocking the attack with his blade. Kaida too was using chakra to enhance his strength; otherwise, he would have been blown away by the attack.

“Worth a try,” the wolf said, jumping back.

Clang

“Why are you throwing your weapon?” the leader asked when Kaida threw away his sword to the side.

“I just remembered, I only know lethal techniques with Kenjutsu—I mean with the sword—so that is a no-go for the spar. How about this?” Kaida said when one of his shadow clones threw a metal stick toward him. Having two weights at the end made it clear that an attack from that would not be deadly but painful.

“I will also try not to kill you accidentally,” the leader said, but his actions were contradicting himself. Hair on his skin started to stand because of how much chakra he was using to enhance himself.

‘Full power, huh!’ Kaida thought, and soon black lines started emerging from the seal on his forehead, covering his whole body, especially his hands and legs, in something that resembled gauntlets and shoes.

“Let’s go,” Kaida said, and both of them vanished from their place.

Clang, clang, ding, thump

Their motions became a blur, with many wolves having trouble following their movements.

In a span of a few seconds, they had exchanged more than a hundred blows, both of them evenly matched in their speed and power.

The extra factor of reflexes Kaida had because of the Sharingan was countered with the instincts of the leader, making the result of the fight almost unsure… until—

Kaida still had his MS active. In mid-fight when the leader made eye contact with Kaida, he subtly cast a genjutsu to alter the direction of his next attack in the leader’s mind.

Due to the speed they were moving, the leader didn’t even have time to comprehend how he was hit in the ribs before he was thrown to the other end of the ground.

Crack

“Are you all right?” Kaida asked, as the leader stopped himself from colliding with the wall by embedding his claws in the ground, but the sound of bone breaking was clear to all present.

“Hahaha, this is it! This is what I have been missing for so long!” In spite of the pain, the leader only laughed at the attack, which was more than powerful enough to make a fine paste of any human, and here the wolf was laughing.

And the next second, he once again shrank inside the shadow. But Kaida was ready this time, scanning his surroundings for any movement at all. Soon the shadow in front of him became alive. He knew what was coming, but the leader didn’t appear from there—he jumped out of the shadow to the left of Kaida.

Surprised, Kaida tried to block the attack with his stick when he noticed that the claws on the leader’s hand were extra long, with shadow being attached to it.

‘Most creative use of Yin chakra I have ever seen,’ Kaida thought, but he was sure he would be able to block the attack. When suddenly, the shadow claws passed through the stick like they were nothing but air, going past the stick and toward Kaida’s neck.

It was only thanks to the Sharingan and the activated Mitotic Regeneration Seal that Kaida was able to move his head away just in time.

But he was still not able to evade the attack completely, getting three long gashes on his chest.

“Ahhhh!” Three of his shadow clones rapidly attacked the leader to give Kaida enough time to handle the injury.

“Man, can you stop popping these cool techniques?” Kaida said, healing his injuries in a heartbeat with help of both the Mitotic Regeneration Seal and his own medical technique. By the time his shadow clones dispersed, he was as good as new.

The real tragedy? His favorite shirt was ruined.
