Chapter 462: Chapter 457: who knows
“Sensei, can you teach me reverse summoning Jutsu, please?” Kaida asked as soon as they were back in the village.
“Do you really want to learn that? I mean, I understand that toads are not an option for you now, but don’t you want to try for slugs? Because let me tell you, in terms of versatility, Lady Katsuyu is the best summon I have ever seen. With her ability to heal someone at death’s door, or ability to divide herself for intel gathering, and chakra transfer, not to mention the acid attack that is able to even melt stone… wait, is she really better than toads?” Jiraiya was just trying to cheer Kaida up, but midway, a real doubt came to his mind.
“I understand, sensei, but Toad Sage said that fate had already chosen a perfect partner for me. If that partner is Lady Katsuyu, then I will be transported to Shikkotsu Forest on my own, right?” Kaida asked.
“I don’t think fate actually works that way, but who knows? It may very well do. There’s no guide on understanding fate, is there?” Jiraiya said, thinking about the time when he stubbornly used reverse summoning jutsu and got accidentally sent to Mount Myoboku. Maybe it really was fate for him to meet the Toads.
“Very well, you are more than capable of taking care of yourself, so I don’t see a reason not to teach you the jutsu. But just so we are clear—you are just capable of taking care of yourself, not fighting the whole world alone, so don’t even try to do that, OKAY?”
“Why would I fight?”
“Because not all summons are as good as toads. Some… have different personalities,” Jiraiya said, taking out his storage seal from his pocket.
“Hmm, I don’t have the scroll with me. Ah, I will just show you the way directly,” he said. Kaida nodded and activated his Sharingan. With all of the benefits of Sharingan, the ability to copy techniques and jutsu may very well be one of the top ones.
Jiraiya nodded and started making hand signs, with his chakra strangely taking no other form—it was just normal chakra. Usually when a user performs a jutsu, at least one at a certain level, they change the nature of their chakra to the jutsu they were using.
‘Means space-type chakra nature is not a thing and just normal chakra is enough to handle that… wait a minute,’ Kaida thought. At the last seal, the chakra Jiraiya was using suddenly changed—not into some weird chakra nature he had never seen in his life, but into a weird mixture of Yin and Yang chakra.
It was like the chakra was dividing and remerging in itself, and it was clearly not done intentionally. It was just the effect of the seal and the chakra control of Jiraiya.
“Interesting, isn’t it? This is the reason space-time ninjutsu are hardest to master, and only Minato was able to master Flying Thunder God jutsu after Lord Second,” Jiraiya said, seeing the interested expression on Kaida’s face.
“It truly is interesting. I really want to try and learn that jutsu now,” Kaida said, really fascinated by the jutsu.
“I am sure sensei will teach you as soon as all this mess is over. Anyway, that is not the point for now. Have you copied the jutsu?” Jiraiya asked.
“Yes, sensei, but nothing happened when you made all those hand seals?” Kaida asked. Aside from all of the chakra nature splitting and all, Jiraiya was still standing there.
“I know. I have not completed the jutsu. There is still one more seal left. If I had completed the jutsu, I would be transported to some other place, which I don’t want to do at the moment. Thankfully, the next step is just a hand seal, so if you could reach this stage, completing the jutsu will be a piece of cake,” Jiraiya said, putting away his hands, not completing the jutsu at all.
Kaida nodded and started making one hand seal after another, carefully manipulating his chakra just like what Jiraiya did, and in just a single try, he reached the last stage of the jutsu.
“Good. Now the most important part of the jutsu—how to undo this jutsu. Because if you somehow reached a place you don’t want to, this becomes a lifeline at that time. Well, at least for those who were able to complete this jutsu before dying,” Jiraiya said, patting Kaida’s shoulders, laughing like he was not talking about the lethality of the jutsu at all.
Though Kaida understood why Jiraiya was not worried about the jutsu at all. Initially, his goal was to reach elite chunin level or jonin level strength before trying this jutsu. But now with kage level strength and so many cards under his belt, he was sure that he would be able to even survive a place at the same level as Mount Myoboku, or at least run away without any consequence.
After that, Jiraiya showed Kaida how to cancel the jutsu and come back to the same location, and at last, the final hand seal.
“Before you try the jutsu, make sure to notify your family about this. In some situations, it may take quite some time before you come back from your little trip,” Jiraiya said.
Kaida nodded his head, a little too excited to try the jutsu. Even though he had already been teleported to other places twice, it was always with Jiraiya and somehow forced, like riding a bike as a passenger, but now it was his time to drive it.
“I really want to stay and see your progress, kid, but I have way too much work to do. So tell me about your experience at our next meeting,” Jiraiya said.
“See you soon, sensei,” Kaida said, bowing a little.
Waving his hand, Jiraiya left the training area, his face going back to serious. Thankfully, this time the prophecy was not something like doom of the world. Though it was not nice this time as well, at least he still had more than enough time to handle that.
‘Now I can finally focus on you, old friend. Let’s see what you are up to this time,’ Jiraiya thought. Orochimaru, the S-rank rogue ninja of Konoha, was a matter of concern for every Konoha ninja, but for Jiraiya, it was personal, especially since he knew that his old friend now had his eyes on his new student.
