- Chapter 149 - 149 Pendant
149: Pendant 149: Pendant Kyrian observed the silent hall for a few seconds after Dong Zhen disappeared through the side door.
The place seemed to exhale a slow, almost imperceptible breath, as if the inner courtyard were alive and aware.
He turned toward the rectangular constructions that served as dormitories.
He walked to one of the doors, the closest one, and pushed it open to enter.
The interior was simple but solid.
The walls were made of the same material, the same polished black brick that formed the outer floor, with thin red veins running in straight lines, emitting a faint glow.
The lighting came from two red gems set into the ceiling, radiating a soft reddish tone throughout the place, enough to see everything clearly.
The dormitory was divided into three spaces.
The first was the main room, with a low table of dark stone and a chair also made of stone, covered by a layer of rigid fabric.
Beside it, there was a built-in wardrobe in the wall, without many ornaments, only functional.
The second space was a small bedroom, with a simple bed of dark wood and a firm mattress, without adornments.
Above the bed, a narrow window allowed a slight current of cold air to enter.
The third space was even smaller, a reserved room with a metal basin and runes on the floor.
Probably some kind of cleaning formation or something like that.
Kyrian walked through the place slowly, observing everything without touching anything.
The environment was simple and rough.
But enough to live in.
Nothing missing, nothing in excess.
It was as if it had been built to avoid distractions.
After a few minutes standing still, examining the space, someone suddenly knocked on his door.
Kyrian turned without hurry.
The knock was short.
When he opened it, he found a servant of the Blood Court.
A thin man, wearing gray clothes, without any noticeable cultivation, only at the early stages of the Accumulation Realm.
The servant slightly inclined his head.
“Young Master Kyrian.” He raised something wrapped in a dark cloth.
“Master Dong Zhen asked me to deliver this to you.
He also said he wishes for you to read it before meeting him again in front of the fortress core.” Kyrian simply nodded once.
He took the object.
It was a thick-covered book, untitled, only marked with a crimson symbol of the Blood Court.
“I will inform the master that I have delivered it.” Said the servant, stepping back before turning and disappearing down the corridor.
Kyrian closed the door and walked to the table.
He placed the book there, pulled the chair, and opened the cover.
The first page began without any introduction.
“Main Structure of the Blood Court.” He turned the pages, neither too fast nor too slowly.
The content was direct, divided into sections.
History, Branches, Hierarchy, Cultivation, Common Practices, Missions, and Internal Rules.
Nothing was glorified, only described in a direct and raw manner.
Essential information.
Kyrian read it all.
About the branches, nothing much new besides what Dong Zhen had already explained, but there were details about how each branch operated, how its members were selected, and what each one’s role was within the organization.
What caught Kyrian’s attention was the section about the main branch.
“The main branch does not train groups.” “It does not form disciples in fixed intervals like the other branches.” “It usually has only one disciple at a time.
And disciples of the main branch are chosen directly by the Master of the Blood Court.” Kyrian stared at that sentence for a few seconds.
He would apparently be the only one there of his age.
Since he had been the only one chosen by Dong Zhen in decades.
He closed the book a few moments later, the information already completely engraved in his mind.
He took a deep breath and placed his finger on the cover, understanding the next place where he would stay and use to grow stronger.
The silence of the dormitory seemed to deepen as he did so.
After some more time absorbing the entire structure and rules, Kyrian left the book on the table.
He sighed.
“The place is less bad than I imagined.” His gaze then fell toward the narrow window.
“Demonic path, huh?” He thought about everything he had read, everything he had seen so far.
The Blood Court killed a lot, of course.
They performed assassination missions, collected the blood of enemies, and cultivated in that manner.
But nothing in the book spoke of sacrifices of innocents, massacres for pleasure, torment, or macabre rituals.
In fact, if a member were found doing such things, depending on the severity, they would be severely punished.
The Blood Court simply followed the law of the strongest.
They killed enemies, cultivated, and, mainly, survived in this chaotic world.
Kyrian crossed his arms.
Perhaps he had carried a prejudice toward such a force without realizing it.
Influenced by Wei Feng and by that man who wanted to enter the Blood Court.
People desperate, who, seeking to escape their situations, escape a prison, or survive a few more days, took extreme decisions.
Wei Feng sacrificed an entire city for survival.
Kyrian did not like that method at all, but he understood what led to it.
“Actually… Who am I to judge the path of others?” He thought aloud.
The world was far too vast.
Each cultivator did what they needed to survive and grow stronger.
“I just need to follow the path that I think is right for me.
To become strong.
Stronger.” The decision was more than made.
Kyrian stood up, left the dormitory, and walked toward the inner courtyard.
He sat near the blood core but still far from the barrier that protected it.
He crossed his legs and settled into a cultivation posture.
The core pulsed in slow cycles, radiating crimson energy that spread like a dense breeze.
Kyrian closed his eyes and waited.
It didn’t take long.
Footsteps echoed through the hall.
Firm and calm steps.
He opened his eyes and saw Dong Zhen returning.
Kyrian stood up slowly.
And then he saw the object in Dong Zhen’s hands.
A small black pendant, circular, hanging from a metallic chain.
Running through the center, the crimson red line was unlit.
But Kyrian recognized it immediately.
It was identical to Wei Feng’s pendant.
Dong Zhen stopped before him and raised the pendant.
“This is for you.” Kyrian extended his hand and took the pendant.
It was cold.
“It is a locator.” Dong Zhen explained.
“As long as you carry it, I can know your position and whether you are alive or in danger.
Nothing more.” Kyrian kept observing the pendant without expression.
“Drip a drop of blood with your intent.
Then it will respond to its new owner.” Dong Zhen added.
Kyrian raised his finger, and from his pores the blood was controlled by his eyes, falling a drop onto the dark surface.
The pendant absorbed the blood immediately.
A crimson glow lit from the inside out, running along the red line and illuminating the entire circle, until it stabilized in a deep tone.
On the back, written in heavy calligraphy, was.
“Blood Court.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS RogueArvy Creation is hard, cheer me up!
