Chapter 291: Shocking Act
The moment Liam’s eyes opened the next morning, he sat up, grabbed his jacket from the chair, and vanished from the room without hesitation.
A second later, he appeared in Velaris. The capital was still quiet at this hour. The sun had only just begun to rise, sending soft light across the rooftops.
“It seems like the time actually aligns between the cultivation universe and the magic universe. Interesting… I wonder if this is a coincidence or it’s something standard,” Liamn said to himself, standing in a narrow alley a short walk away from the inn where Chrises stayed.
He stepped out of the alley and walked down the street with calm steps. He reached the inn and walked inside, climbed the stairs and stopped in front of Chrises’ room, and he knocked lightly.
The door opened a moment later.
Chrises stood at the doorway dressed in a black flowing night dress. Her hair was loose, falling gently behind her shoulders. She looked surprised for a moment, then bowed her head.
“Good morning, Master,” she greeted softly.
“Morning, Chrises. Can I come in?” Liam nodded.
Chrises nodded and stepped aside immediately. “Of course.”
Liam walked past her and sat on the bed. He looked at her calmly and asked, “how are you holding up?”
Chrises stood with her hands behind her back. “I am fine. And I completed the tasks you gave me.”
“Good. Tell me.”
“I found a few stores that would catch your interest,” she said. “They are in good areas that are busy and also easy to reach. And one of them is perfect in size if you plan something long-term.”
Liam nodded. “What about the mansion?”
“There is one that stands out,” she said. “The price is high, but not unreasonable. The land is good. The place is solid. It will be a strong foothold for you in Velaris.”
Liam sighed softly and leaned back on the bed slightly.
“You did well,” he said. “I’ll check them out and make the purchases.”
Chrises nodded in understanding.
“I will get dressed,” she said.
Before Liam could respond, Chrises reached for the strap of her dress and she let it fall.
The black fabric slid off her shoulders and dropped to the floor, and her entire body was exposed in front of him.
As if not caring about the fact that she was fully naked in front of a man, she bent down and started picking out the clothes she will wear, from the duffel.
Liam blinked in surprise. His eyes hardened slightly and his brows lowered, as a faint frown formed.
A small frown touched his face, out of confusion. He hadn’t expected this. Not even in the slightest.
“I’ll wait outside,” he said, as he stood up immediately and walked to the door.
He opened it and walked out of the room with calm steps and shut the door behind him. He left the inn without looking back.
Outside, Liam exhaled softly and rubbed the bridge of his nose. Chrises’ figure was stunning, no doubt and any young man would react. His body did too, instinctively… but that was all.
He could have stayed and he could have stared. He knew that she didn’t care because to her, she’s nothing but his slave, his property.
But honestly, he wasn’t interested. It would had been a different case if she was a strong opponent that wanted to fight him, but she isn’t.
Actually the truth was that Liam wasn’t romantically or sexually interested in Chrises, and he also isn’t a fan of flings or causals—sex without any emotional connection.

Meanwhile, Chrises was frozen in her room, with her heart thumping hard in her chest and her hands shaking slightly as she took out her dress from the bag.
Only now did she realize what she had done. She hadn’t thought about it when she decided to take off her dress and reveal her full nakedness to Liam, her master.
Even after Liam told her she wasn’t a slave to him… she still belonged to him in the eyes of the world. The slave mark on her shoulder was a reminder she could never ignore.
And slaves do not refuse their masters. They obey. They offer and give everything. But Chrises… wasn’t like other slaves.
One of the reasons she was sold off in the first place was because she refused to open her legs for someone powerful. She had refused to be used. And that stubbornness was the reason she was here now.
She’s a thirty-four woman who takes pride in how beautiful she is and how young she looks, and still a virgin—something she took pride in too.
But she was also a woman. And no woman, no matter how strong or confidence, could avoid feeling something when a man looked at her naked body… then calmly walked away without a second glance.
Her stomach twisted and she couldn’t help but ask herself, was she not beautiful enough? Was she old? Unattractive Unwanted?
Her fists tightened around the fabric of her dress, as more questions popped into her head.
Her pride stung more than she expected.
She sighed deeply and pushed her messy thoughts aside. Now wasn’t the time to break down over a man’s reaction—even if it was her master’s.
“Focus. There’s work to do,” she muttered as she slipped into her clothes piece by piece.
She took one last breath, squared her shoulders, and stepped out of the room.
Her heart still felt heavy, but she forced her steps to stay steady as she headed toward the entrance—where Liam was waiting for her.
She approached him with a steady step.
“Sorry for taking long,” she said.
“You didn’t,” Liam replied calmly. “Let’s eat first.”
Chrises nodded and led the way.
They walked quietly for a few minutes through the lively streets, as Chrises led Liam toward a restaurant.
They walked inside. The place was warm and filled with morning chatter. Several travelers and locals sat around eating soup or bread. A waitress rushed between tables carrying trays.
Liam and Chrises took a seat near the window.
Chrises raised her hand and the waitress hurried toward them.
“What can I bring you?” she asked with a bright smile.
Chrises glanced at Liam.
“Order for both of us,” Liam said.
Chrises turned toward the waitress and placed their orders. The waitress nodded and rushed away.
Chrises lowered her gaze to the table. She tried to calm her thoughts, but the memory of her earlier action kept looping in her head.
Liam saw how she was acting but he said nothing. Not that there was nothing to say but his words won’t register with Chrises. The values that has been conditioned into her isn’t something that can be changed by just mere words.
It’s not like he has communication skill that can change people’s mind like one certain anime character.
Their order arrived a few minutes later and they started eating.
