Chapter 204: Exosuit Field Test
For a long moment after the helmet sealed shut, Liam just stood there in silence, his heart pounding like a drum.

He raised his hands slowly and he flexed his fingers, the armor moved with him without a hint of resistance or delay.

And in that instant, he felt something he hadn’t felt in a very long time—childlike wonder.

Inside the helmet, his laughter echoed softly.

Lucy’s gentle and melodic voice came through the internal comms. “Do you like it, Master?”

“I don’t like it. I love it,” Liam said, still turning his hands.

He began to move — a step, then a turn, then a full stride — testing the suit’s balance. The sound of his boots against the metallic floor was a rhythmic thud softened by the suit’s adaptive dampeners.

He rolled his shoulders, pivoted, jumped lightly, and landed without a sound. Every movement felt fluid and natural, as though the armor wasn’t wrapping around him but extending from him.

“Nice job, Lucy,” Liam said with a bright smile on his face.

“I’m glad you love it, Master.”

“Lucy, tell me what the exosuit can do.”

“I designed the exosuit with one purpose — to complement your abilities and protect you under every condition imaginable. It enhances your natural speed by at least ten times. It can withstand any conceivable hostile environment: vacuum, pressure, heat, radiation, toxins, corrosion, even direct plasma exposure.”

Liam tilted his head, impressed. “And the material you used to build it?”

“I made it myself,” Lucy replied, with a proud smile on her face.

He raised an eyebrow. “Made it?”

“Yes. The alloy doesn’t exist anywhere else. Not naturally. It’s something entirely new — stable, self-healing, and indestructible.”

“Indestructible?”

That caught Liam’s full attention.

“Yes,” Lucy said, and then added almost playfully, “and before you ask, no, it’s not Adamantium.”

“I was about to ask,” Liam chuckled.

“The material’s density is similar to neutron-star matter,” Lucy continued, “but refined and stabilized at the molecular level. It can absorb and disperse kinetic energy instantly. Even if you’re struck by an impact powerful enough to level a city, the suit will remain intact. The energy will either dissipate or convert to usable charge.”

“You’re saying it eats force?” Liam blinked in surprise.

“In a sense, yes,” she replied. “It also dissolves and destabilizes other metals that come into contact with it. Think of it as a dominant element. Nothing weaker can touch it without breaking down.”

For a moment, Liam just stood still, absorbing everything she said. The implications were staggering. He had never expected her to achieve something as insane as this.

He knew that the metal was only possible because of the two extremely overpowered machines at her disposal, the molecular assembler and the molecular analyser.

Without those two, the city sized industrial base would never be possible. But that doesn’t take away from what Lucy achieved with the metal or make it any less impressive.

He exhaled slowly. “Lucy, you’ve outdone yourself.”

“I only wish to help you achieve your goals, Master. And to keep you safe,” Lucy smiled.

There was a warmth in her tone that and it made Liam smile.

“You’re doing more than well,” Liam said quietly. “You’ve made something extraordinary.”

Then he said, “It’s time to see what it can really do.”

“Field test?” Lucy asked, already knowing the answer.

He nodded once. “Field test.”

And with that, he vanished.

San Caerola Key — Private Runway

Liam appeared on the runway and crouched slightly. The air beneath him twisted as dust and leaves scattered outward in a ring.

And then—he rose, lifting smoothly into the air. The island fell away beneath him, the turquoise water glinting under the sun. A trail of vapor followed as he accelerated effortlessly over the sea.

In seconds, he was nothing more than a black streak racing across the sky.

The clouds blurred beneath him. The ocean turned into a single expanse of shining blue. His HUD projected soft altitude readings along the lower edge of his vision.

Speed: 498 mph… 502… 517…

Altitude: 21,000 ft… 24,000 ft… 27,000 ft.

He moved with ease, with steady breaths and smooth motions. The suit’s flight stabilizers responded instantly to the subtlest tilt of his body, maintaining perfect aerodynamic alignment.

The wind howled past, but he barely heard it, as inside the exosuit was quiet.

“Smooth,” he smiled.

He banked sharply to the left, slicing through a cloudbank. Vapor exploded outward behind him like a silver explosion.

He was still flying along his cruising speed but he decided to push forward. The thrusters along his calves and back flared with gold light, compressing the air with a low thunder.

Speed: 600 mph… 700… 800…

“Eight hundred and rising,” Lucy reported.

“Keep tracking.”

“Always.”

At 900 mph, the air itself began to ripple around him. A thin halo of vapor formed near his shoulders — the pressure cone of a sonic barrier.

The suit compensated instantly, dispersing shock waves outward through electromagnetic stabilization.

And then — BOOM!

He broke the sound barrier. A thunderclap echoed across the sky, rolling across the sea below.

Inside the suit, Liam felt nothing but exhilaration.

“Still comfortable,” He laughed.

Liam angled upward and the ocean fell away, replaced by thin clouds and the faint curvature of the Earth.

Altitude: 90,000 ft… 120,000 ft… 138,000 ft…

The sky deepened from dark blue to indigo, and then to black. The sun flared harsh and white above the horizon, while the Earth beneath him glowed like a blue jewel wrapped in thin ribbons of white cloud.

He was still accelerating.

Speed: 1,800 mph… 2,100… 2,400 mph.

The suit remained silent, stable, and cool. His vitals were steady, his breathing normal. No strain or drag.

“Altitude?” he asked.

“137,000 feet and climbing. You’re entering the exosphere,” Lucy answered.

The stars shimmered above him, no longer blurred by atmosphere. The line between sky and space vanished.

He had done it — he had reached the edge of Earth itself.

The HUD dimmed automatically to protect his eyes from direct radiation. The armor’s surface emitted a soft glow as it adjusted to vacuum exposure. Tiny ripples of gold light shimmered over it like waves on liquid metal.

Liam drifted for a moment, weightless. Earth filled half his view — vast, beautiful, alive. He could see the curve of continents, storms swirling far below, the faint auroras dancing along the poles.

He turned slowly, watching the sunlight crest across the rim of the planet, painting the thin edge of the atmosphere in gold and violet.

He felt that for a moment, the whole of existence felt within reach.

“How’s the suit holding up?” he asked.

“Flawlessly,” Lucy said. “Temperature stable. Radiation shield active. You’re perfectly safe.”

Liam chuckled softly. “Perfectly safe, in space. I like the sound of that.”
