Chapter 678: Chapter 678: It’s good to be home
The Holy Priestess didn’t show even the slightest mercy to the remnants of the Holy Empire.
Along the way, almost everyone who had shown an unwavering loyalty towards the Empire had been killed in the name of future stability of the Western Continent.
Although many amongst the rebels found the method to be a little too ruthless, they accepted it as the necessary evil. It was the burden that the Holy Priestess had to carry and she was willing, for the sake of this continent’s citizens.
The request of Eren’s clone fell on deaf ears. The Holy Priestess sentenced the Holy Emperor to death, along with his brother.
“It’s nothing personal,” the Main Character of the Northern Continent walked closer to the Holy Emperor to put him to his death.
He had been the biggest help in this war against the Holy Empire’s forces. As for the reason such a strong person had agreed to help the Holy Priestess, not many people knew.
Some said that it was because he had fallen for the Holy Priestess. Others thought that it was because he came from the Northern Continent, and the Holy Priestess had made a deal with him that she was going to return the Northern Continent to him.
At present, the Northern Continent was controlled by the forces of the Holy Emperor that weren’t called back.
The Northern Continent’s main character could kill all the forces stationed there, but he was sure that the Holy Emperor wasn’t going to let him be at peace. He was also strong enough to kill the Necromancer Tower Master after all.
Instead of dealing with the symptoms, he came to the Western Continent to deal with the root cause, which was the Holy Emperor. Along the way, one of his main aims was also to be killed as many times as possible, to gain more strength
“I thought that you would be able to kill me at least a few times, since you were able to kill the Necromancer Tower Master. I must say that I am quite disappointed. Now that I look at you properly, you are nothing special.”
The silver haired man grabbed Eren’s clone by the throat, and raised him in the air.
“You won’t even be able to trigger the condition for my stronger revival. Truly a pity. I truly wonder what tricks you used to kill the Necromancer Tower Master.”
He started applying force in his grip, almost choking Eren’s clone. Meanwhile, the clone glanced at the Holy Emperor’s younger brother. A sword was being held at the back of his neck, barely a few inches away.
The clone closed his eyes, feeling that he could disappear at any moment since his weak body couldn’t take any damage.
“You did good.”
A voice suddenly fell in the clone’s ears, making him abruptly open his eyes. The voice was all too familiar. It was something that he could never forget. It was a voice that belonged to him. Or rather, it belonged to real Eren.
The pain that his body was starting to experience suddenly disappeared. He saw the shocked gaze on the face of the silver haired young man.
He even felt a strange force gently wrap itself around his body, pulling him into its embrace. His surroundings started getting blurry, and soon he couldn’t see anything.
The strange phenomenon only lasted for a fraction of a second before it completely disappeared. His vision soon returned to normal, and he noticed that his surroundings were completely different now.
To his pleasant surprise, he wasn’t in the Holy Empire anymore. The spiritual energy in the air was also a thousand times denser, something that was not possible even in the holy lands of the lower worlds.
“Is this the upper realm?” he mumbled in surprise.
He had a lot of questions, but he didn’t hear Eren’s voice again. Instead, he was able to hear the Spirit Queen’s noice who told him that he had to hide in the Upper Realm.
The clone was not the real Eren. He could not only change his looks, but also his aura. Even if someone was looking for the real Eren, it wasn’t easy for them to find the clone.
At least that’s what Eren thought when he planned to send his clone to the Upper Realm.
Since he couldn’t travel through space without getting sick, he could only use his clones to switch places with them. If he ever wanted to return to the upper realm instantly, he needed someone to open the door for this skill.
He needed a clone to be in the upper realm. Even though his future self had told him to not return to the upper realm anytime soon, it didn’t mean Eren wasn’t going to make any preparation for his uncertain future.
Eren had even planned to send a clone to hell, and open the gateway to earth. But before that, he had to stabilize the situation in the Holy Empire and the Demon Sect.
The clone had a lot of questions, but he listened to the Spirit Queen. He was simply glad that he had survived after all. Moreover, now that Eren was back in the Holy Empire, he didn’t have to worry about anything.
“Since he agreed to return, he must have a plan. It looks like the rebels are in for a world of pain.” The clone smirked, and his facial features started shifting.
He started walking away, being guided by the Spirit Queen who had learned everything from real Eren about this last minute plan.
….
The Priest brought the sword down, slashing at the Holy Emperor’s brother’s neck. The young man who was bleeding already, felt like everything was over.
Suddenly, he felt a gust of wind that brushed past his skin. The pain that he expected never came. Instead, he heard a pained groan of the Priest who was about to kill him.
The cry of pain grew distant as if the Priest was flying away, and suddenly there was a loud thud. The priest crashed on the palace wall, breaking his bones and dying instantly.
“It’s good to be home.” A familiar voice fell in the young noble’s ears.
