45: Chapter 45: Elf Inheritance!

Myth Beast!

With Rone leading the way, Gu Xing crossed the Central Square of the Holy City.

They came to an ancient and solemn hall.

On the aged stone floor, a teleportation array formed of silver-white runes emitted a faint glow.

Rone stepped back and bowed slightly, “My Lord, this is the place!”
“Through here, you can enter the Sanctuary of the Elf Race-the birthplace of the Elf Clan.”
Hearing Rone’s explanation, Gu Xing took a deep breath and stepped into the center of the array.

A flash of white light, and in the next instant, his figure vanished from the spot.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself already in another world.

Gu Xing slowly opened his eyes, and the scene before him made his breath catch.

A colossal tree towered into the heavens, its trunk thick and mighty as an ancient mountain, its gnarled bark etched with the scars of ages.

Standing at the base of the giant tree, Gu Xing felt as small as a grain of dust.

He instinctively reached out, his fingertips brushing against the rough bark.

Cold, dry!

It was clear this giant tree had lost all signs of life.

“Master!

Are you alright?!”
Liu Li’s anxious voice called out from the Beast Taming Space.

The very moment they entered this mysterious space, she’d been forcibly sent back to the Beast Taming Space by an invisible power.

Gu Xing tried several times, but couldn’t summon Liu Li out again, and simply gave up.

“I’m fine.”
After reassuring Liu Li, Gu Xing began to carefully examine the giant tree.

Inside this realm,
there was nothing but this one tree.

Is this the inheritance of the Elf Race?!

This tree?!

Just as Gu Xing was puzzled, a gentle radiance suddenly flared on the withered trunk.

The glow gradually gathered, forming into the ethereal shadow of a graceful woman.

She had pointed elven ears, pale golden hair that cascaded like a waterfall, and her presence radiated a comforting warmth.

Yet in those emerald eyes, sorrow pooled, fathomless and unbreakable.

“A thousand years…” The apparition murmured softly with an ancient tone, “At last you have come!”
Gu Xing instinctively took half a step back, wary.

But soon, he realized this was likely none other than the legendary Elf Queen.

Except…

Wasn’t she dead?

Perhaps seeing Gu Xing’s confusion, the apparition spoke gently:
“You guessed right, I am the last queen of the Elf Race-dead for a thousand years.”
“What stands before you now is merely a remnant soul anchored to the Tree of Life.”
Gu Xing’s pupils contracted.

A remnant soul?

To preserve awareness for a millennium with only a wisp of soul-her power, back in life, must have been terrifying.

Even Monarch Level guardian beasts couldn’t retain consciousness for a thousand years after death.

Thus, the Elf Queen had to be beyond Monarch Level!

But then, a chill gripped his heart.

Such a powerful being had also fallen in that ancient war a millennium ago.

So then, the power of the Demon Race…

The Elf Empress’s green eyes seemed able to pierce Gu Xing’s very thoughts.

“No need to worry-the Demon Race is but a shadow of its former glory.

Besides…”
She paused, her words heavy with meaning.

“Humans possess the most unique potential and talent-no other race can compare.”
To these alternate world races, the Human Race was like a cheat code!

To become a Beast Master, rallying all kinds of races!

And once reaching a certain level, they possessed impressive combat strength!

Truly, it’s as if they’re blessed by the world itself!

Only…

For some unknown reason.

To this day, the Human Race had yet to produce a being above Monarch Level.

Therefore, before her fall, she set up an almost impossible trial-meant to select a human capable of Ascension to Divinity.

And through his conversation with the Elf Queen, Gu Xing gleaned one corner of the world’s hidden truths.

The alternate space where all currently reside-rather than a world, it’s more a battlefield.

All races compete within, vying and contending.

The Demon Race is the shared enemy of all.

Yet ironically, the strongest races often scorn alliance with the weak.

The Elf Race once considered itself above others-looked down upon every other race-and in the end…

Paid a devastating price.

The apparition shook her head gently, gathering her drifting thoughts back.

Fortunately, the Elf Race still had a final ember left.

Her shadowy hand rose, and a strand of emerald light slowly ascended from the giant tree’s roots.

As the ancient bark creaked and groaned, a glowing passage slowly cracked open at the tree’s center.

“Go,” the apparition’s voice grew misty, “May you…

treat her well…”
Her words had not yet finished when her form faded, vanishing completely.

Her purpose fulfilled.

Gu Xing looked at the passage before him and, without hesitation, entered straight in.

If the Elf Race bore him malice, they wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to draw him here.

Soon, he reached the end.

A natural spring no more than two meters wide came into view, shining with a strange silver-white light.

Beside it, a sapling no taller than a person stubbornly grew, its tender leaves beaded with crystal dew.

And at the very center of the spring, a green cocoon made of pure life energy floated quietly.

Through the translucent wall of the cocoon, Gu Xing could vaguely see a petite figure curled up inside…

This…

is a guardian beast?!

As Gu Xing’s gaze fell upon the green light cocoon in the spring, a data panel appeared before him:
[Natural Spirit (Vera)]
[Talent: Myth One Star]
[Level: Awakening Tier Zero]
[Status: Sleeping (Cannot be contracted)]
[Solution: Awaken in the Beast Taming Holy Pool]
“Myth Level talent?!”
Gu Xing gasped, his pupils constricting sharply.

A guardian beast of this caliber-no one in all of human history had ever contracted such a one.

He studied the elf closely, noticing that within her pale gold hair, a few grayish strands could be seen.

Clearly, a thousand years of sealing had not left her unaffected.

“Beast Taming Holy Pool…”
Gu Xing muttered, a location flitting through his mind…

National Academy!

As humanity’s highest institution, only there existed a unique Beast Taming Holy Pool.

Liu Li’s cultivation materials, together with the Holy Pool.

Looks like…

The National Academy is a place he simply must go!

Gu Xing took a deep breath, feeling the Beast Taming Space within him.

Though he had yet to surpass Extraordinary, he had already constructed his Beast Taming Space in advance.

He reached out cautiously, trying to draw the light cocoon into his Beast Taming Space.

Luckily, nothing went wrong.

If he couldn’t store this little one in the Beast Taming Space, carrying a Myth Level beast around would be far too conspicuous.

Inside the Beast Taming Space.

Liu Li saw another guardian beast’s figure appear inside the space.

She froze.

But quickly, she realized this was her master’s second guardian beast.

Although she desperately wanted to monopolize her master, that was clearly unrealistic.

Looking at the tiny form wrapped in the green cocoon,
Liu Li leaned closer, sensing a subtle pressure from within.

Her expression shifted slightly.

This newcomer’s talent seems…

a bit overpowered!

Her position as the first guardian beast is under threat!

At that thought,
Liu Li’s heart surged with urgency.

She’d have to work even harder now!

Meanwhile, outside the Beast Taming Space,
Gu Xing was about to turn to leave.

But as he left, his eyes fell upon the spring itself.

[Spring of Life: A sacred relic of the Elf Clan]
[Effect: Accelerates guardian beast growth, heals injuries]
“A real treasure!”
Gu Xing’s eyes lit up, and he immediately tried to draw it into the Beast Taming Space.

There was a fluctuation in space, and shockingly, the entire spring was completely absorbed.

Then, his gaze shifted to the small sapling beside the spring.

“Since I’ve taken the spring, I might as well take the tree too!”
Collected!
