Chapter 258: Maxim confessed
Maxim was conflicted. Should he confess everything and try to manage them for two more days, or should he try to avoid the topic as long as he could?

He chose the latter. The president seemed to be pretty serious about this matter. If he really wanted to convince him, that might not be possible right now.

So avoiding the matter was the right thing to do.

“President, I don’t know anything. But if you want, I can also use my personal source,” said a saint.

“Me neither, President. But I am also willing to help,” another one said the same.

One by one, everyone said the same thing, including Maxim.

Alexander snorted coldly.

“Do you think I am playing games with you? Do you even have any idea who is the one behind the reason I am doing all this? Let me give you a hint.

He is someone beyond the God Realm.”

The God Realm he was referring to was the remnants of a Tier 6 existence, a Universe Realm powerhouse.

Instantly, all four of them stood up.

“President, you are joking, right? How is this even possible? If someone like him existed in the modern day, wouldn’t Earth be destroyed already? Could we become the higher-ups of the Martial Association?”

Everyone had the same question.

“You dumbasses! Give me the information already! Do you think I have the guts to lie about an existence of that level?”

Alexander slapped the table, and it turned into dust.

The four of them swallowed hard. Maxim’s heart wanted to leap out from his chest. He didn’t know if Alexander was telling the truth or not. If he was lying, then he would have to be a retarded person, because the level they were talking about was that of beings of Laws.

If you lied about them, you had to pay, as to become a Martial Saint, one had to comprehend a Law, which meant they were also connected to the Law itself.

So if they lied about a superior existence above them, those existences would get the news of this, and that would be the end.

So it was most likely that Alexander was telling the truth. And if he was telling the truth, then his family was doomed.

Probably that existence came to get the Ultimate Martial Spirit, and they were the ones who wanted to absorb the Spirit.

He wanted to tell the truth, but he was unwilling.

Alexander looked at them for a while and then played his ultimate card.

“Fine. If you are not the culprit, then vow on the Law you have comprehended.”

Maxim’s face color instantly changed. A Saint couldn’t lie after making a vow on the Law.

The Saints were hesitating. What if one of their family members had done it without their knowledge? Wouldn’t that make them liars, and wouldn’t that destroy their cultivation?

“Hurry up. I don’t have all day. If you are not the culprit, I’ll send you all to find out the news.”

“President, please give us some time. I want to ask my family members if they have done anything like this without my knowledge. Then we will make the vow. Will that be okay?”

Alexander narrowed his eyes and said, “You have 10 minutes. Do whatever you wish to do. But after 10 minutes, you either tell me the truth or make the vow. Your decision.”

“Okay, sir.”

All of them went outside to contact their families.

Maxim also went to talk to his family.

“Hide Sherlock as soon as possible. I am going to tell them the truth. The matter is more serious than we thought.”

He didn’t instruct them where to hide. If the president asked him about the location of Sherlock, he would tell him that he didn’t know, and that wouldn’t be a lie.

Ten minutes later, everyone entered the room again.

“President, I am ready to vow.”

“Me too.”

“Same here.”

But Maxim’s face was serious.

Alexander looked at his face and already guessed the truth, but he wanted to hear it from his mouth.

“It is me, President.”

The three of them looked at Maxim.

“What is so special about that puny family, Vice President? Is it worth lying about that matter to the President?”

Maxim looked at the Saint who just spoke and snorted, “What do you know? The Moriarty family gave birth to a child who was born with a Martial Spirit. And guess the rank of the Spirit—yes, it was an Ultimate Martial Spirit. And I happened to be passing by their residence when that child was born.

Now tell me, is it worth it or not?”

As soon as he said this, the entire room became eerily silent.

Even Alexander was shocked. So that’s how it was.

Maxim stole the Spirit and probably planted it in his lineage.

No one spoke. They were also greedy, but the situation was out of their league.

The President was standing there, and judging by his expression, Maxim had a very bad time awaiting.

Alexander sighed. Greed was such a thing that never left mankind, even if they became as powerful as a Martial Saint.

“I won’t judge you, Maxim. I’ll let that existence decide this. But I think you should spend more time with your family. Your family is probably going to be wiped out. Good luck.”

Alexander went out of the room. His job was done. Now he knew who was the enemy of the Moriarty family.

He took out his cell phone and dialed Ethan’s number.

Maxim had a grim look on his face.

“Hey, do you think the President is telling the truth? Is there really such an existence?”

“It should be true. He didn’t even know the story, but someone had still made him move the entire Alliance and even called us for questioning.

It’s pretty obvious, the person behind this should be a very powerful one. As for him being an existence surpassing the God Realm, I am not sure, but he should be close. The President shouldn’t make that level of mistake.”

“Now that you mention it, I also think this is the truth. So someone like him came to Earth for that Martial Spirit?”

“That should be obvious, don’t you think so? I mean, why else would someone of that level come to Earth if not for an Ultimate Martial Spirit?”

While the three of them were talking, Maxim was running toward his family. He had a bad feeling that Alexander was telling the truth.

He loved his family dearly, which he had built through countless years.

Now it was on the verge of extermination.

What should he do? Should he hand over the Martial Spirit to that powerful entity? But then, would he spare his family? He should hide with his family for now.

If it turned out to be a lie, he could always come out later. But if it was true, then he would be gambling with his family.

In Ethan’s room,

Suddenly, his mobile started to ring—it was Alexander.

“Sir, I have found the information you asked me to look for.”

Then he gave a brief detail about the information.
