Chapter 455: Fairy Bai’s Fault?
Being stared at by Lin Weiwen, Lin Ruichuan merely looked up at the high ceiling, pretending he hadn’t seen anything.
Gritting her teeth, Lin Weiwen cursed inwardly, ‘Bastard! He’s pretending not to see my signal!’
With no other choice, Lin Weiwen stood and saluted Feng Xiyan. “Since Great General Feng is busy, Wen Wen will not disturb you further. Wen Wen will vis—”
Before she could finish speaking, Feng Xiyan cut her off, “Since Miss Lin knows you are disturbing this general, then don’t come again without permission.”
Without giving her a chance to speak, Feng Xiyan called, “Someone, send off the guest.”
A servant came in, gesturing politely. “Miss Lin, please.”
Glaring at Bai Hanyun, Lin Weiwen flung her sleeve and left angrily.
After she left, Bai Hanyun clicked her tongue and commented, “Such a huge temper.”
Lin Ruichuan chuckled at Bai Hanyun’s words, turned to look at Feng Xiyan, and asked, “Younger Cousin, now that you have humiliated Lin Weiwen, I suppose she won’t let this matter go easily.”
Feng Xiyan sneered. “She can try. Since she’s a member of the Lin Clan, I won’t do anything to her.”
Glancing at Bai Hanyun, he added coldly, “But if she dares touch my people, then don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
Lin Ruichuan sensed the sharp murderous intent coming from Feng Xiyan.
Looking at the oblivious Bai Hanyun, he thought, ‘It seems Miss Bai is both Xiyan’s weakness and his strength. If I want to mend the relationship between the Lin Clan and Xiyan, I will need her help.’
While he was thinking, a servant entered and reported, “Young Master, Physician Yan has arrived.”
“Quickly invite him in,” Feng Xiyan ordered.
“Yes, Young Master.”
The servant left, then returned shortly with Yan Bingyang.
Standing before Feng Xiyan and Bai Hanyun, Yan Bingyang clasped his hands and bowed slightly. “This subordinate greets the Great General.”
Then he smiled at Bai Hanyun. “This subordinate greets Fairy Bai.”
Feng Xiyan waved impatiently and urged, “No need for formalities. Hurry up and check Yun’er’s condition.”
Seeing the worried expression on Feng Xiyan’s face, Yan Bingyang sighed inwardly. ‘He’s doomed. No medicine can save him now. I wonder if his excessive Yang Energy is also Fairy Bai’s fault?’
Yan Bingyang placed his medicine box on the side table, took out the pulse pillow, and gestured politely. “Fairy Bai, please.”
After Bai Hanyun rested her wrist on the pulse pillow, Yan Bingyang placed a clean white handkerchief over her wrist and began checking her pulse.
Feng Xiyan sat beside Bai Hanyun anxiously, but he was not daring to make a sound, afraid to disturb Yan Bingyang.
Two minutes later, Yan Bingyang withdrew his fingers.
“Fairy Bai is perfectly healthy,” he reported. “No need for medicine. If you are worried, Great General, just have the servants prepare some nourishing soup.”
Remembering Feng Xiyan’s tendency to be overly concerned and protective about Bai Hanyun, Yan Bingyang added seriously, “And remember—medicine is three parts poison. Overeating will harm the body instead.”
Feng Xiyan nodded earnestly at his reminder. “Got it.”
Seeing that Yan Bingyang was still staring at him, Feng Xiyan raised a brow in question. “Physician Yan, is there anything else you wish to tell this general?”
Yan Bingyang hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Great General… have you…”
He glanced at Bai Hanyun, then finished in a whisper, “…done it?”
Feng Xiyan froze at his question. A second later, his face turned bright red.
Grabbing Yan Bingyang’s sleeve, he dragged him aside and whispered harshly, “Physician Yan, can you not talk about that anymore?”
Hearing this, Yan Bingyang frowned and seriously reminded him, “Great General, if you don’t resolve this problem as soon as possible…”
His gaze dropped to Feng Xiyan’s lower body as he added, “…you may be crippled sooner or later. By then, even I won’t be able to help you.”
Sighing heavily, he looked at Bai Hanyun with pity clear in his eyes. “If that happens, Fairy Bai’s future happiness will be doomed. If the two of you can’t marry because of this matter, then I will be the sinner of the Feng Clan.”
Feng Xiyan was very embarrassed by his words, but couldn’t refute him.
Seeing the genuine concern in Yan Bingyang’s eyes, he finally said helplessly, “Alright. This general will do his best to resolve it.”
Yan Bingyang nodded and calmly reminded him, “This subordinate will await your good news. Great General, you must not delay any longer.”
Walking away, he went to pack the pulse pillow. Yan Bingyang carried his medicine box, saluted Feng Xiyan, and said, “There are still many patients waiting in the barracks. This subordinate will take his leave first.”
After he left, Bai Hanyun noticed Feng Xiyan was still standing in the corner, deep in thought.
“Feng Xiyan, what are you doing? Is something wrong in the barracks?” she asked with a hint of concern and curiosity in her voice.
Feng Xiyan jolted out of his thoughts by her questions and shook his head in fluster. “N-nothing!”
Narrowing her eyes, Bai Hanyun studied him.
Under her scanning gaze, Feng Xiyan’s heart almost jumped out of his chest. Swallowing hard, he looked away and didn’t dare to meet Bai Hanyun’s gaze.
A few seconds passed before Bai Hanyun calmly said, “That’s good. If you need help, you must tell me.”
Feng Xiyan blushed hard, lowered his head, and said in panic, “I–I know. I—I’m going to the barracks to handle something. Don’t wait for me for dinner.”
Without waiting for her response, he fled the guest hall.
Watching Feng Xiyan run away as if a ghost was chasing him, Bai Hanyun frowned. “Physician Yan must have reported something serious for him to go back so urgently.”
Overhearing her words, Lin Ruichuan glanced at the door and smiled meaningfully. “Is that so?”
Raising a brow, Bai Hanyun looked at him in confusion.
Lin Ruichuan chuckled and stood. He clasped his hands and politely said, “Miss Bai, I need to write a letter to inform my father about Lin Weiwen’s arrival. I will take my leave. See you later.”
“Alright. See you later, Young Master Lin.”
Left alone in the guest hall, Bai Hanyun stood and stretched her body. With her hands on her hips, she smiled and muttered, “Since I have nothing to do, let’s explore the city. Maybe I can find something valuable.”
After informing the servants she was heading out, Bai Hanyun left the Great General’s mansion alone. Soon after she left, Yi Bai and a few more secret guards secretly followed her.
