Chapter 451: Mysterious Luxurious Carriage
The Yang Mirror strode over, wrapped his arms around the Yin Mirror’s waist from behind, and rested his chin possessively on her shoulder. With narrowed eyes, he glared at Feng Xiyan in warning.
The Yin Mirror glanced at her jealous husband, then offered Feng Xiyan a helpless smile. “Please forgive him, Master.”
“Mhm.” Feng Xiyan made a neutral sound of acknowledgment and walked over to Bai Hanyun.
Looking her over from head to toe, he asked, “Yun’er, you were also struck by the golden light pillar. Are you alright?”
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun sighed dramatically and muttered, “I was hoping I wouldn’t be alright. But unfortunately, I’m perfectly fine.”
Perplexed by her disappointment, Feng Xiyan flicked her forehead gently. “Don’t talk nonsense. It’s good that you are fine.”
Bai Hanyun grinned, then tilted her head upward. “Looks like the rain won’t stop anytime soon. Should we find shelter until it stops?”
Before Feng Xiyan could reply, the Yang Mirror interjected, “Girl, where do you want to go?”
“Back to Xiqiang City,” Bai Hanyun answered.
Receiving her answer, the Yang Mirror smirked and said, “That’s easy. Watch this.”
Saying that, he snapped his fingers.
Snap!
Instantly, the air in front of them rippled, and a portal formed in midair.
Bai Hanyun noticed that even the falling raindrops warped and bent around the edge of the portal. Rubbing her chin thoughtfully, she studied the distortion with great interest.
While she observed it, the portal was completed.
“All set. Step through, and we will be at Xiqiang City,” Yang Mirror announced.
Returning from her thoughts, Bai Hanyun gave him a thumbs-up, grabbed Feng Xiyan’s hand, and said, “Let’s go.”
Trusting Yang Mirror wholeheartedly, she walked into the portal without hesitation.
The moment she passed through the portal, darkness enveloped her, but Bai Hanyun kept moving forward. Before long, light engulfed her vision, forcing Bai Hanyun to close her eyes.
As she blinked her eyes, Bai Hanyun heard the faint conversation coming from a distance. After her eyes adjusted to the brightness, she found herself standing near the northern gate of Xiqiang City.
Just as Bai Hanyun was scanning the surroundings, watching refugees, traveling merchants, and Xiqiang City’s citizens going in and out of the city gate, Feng Wu and the Yin Yang Mirrors also appeared from the portal.
“Yun’er, do you need to put on your veiled hat?” Feng Xiyan asked softly.
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun realized she still hadn’t worn it. She turned to Feng Xiyan and caught the hint of expectation in his eyes. After staring at him for a while, she made her decision.
Shaking her head, Bai Hanyun responded, “No. Since I can travel between the two worlds now, I shouldn’t keep doing things secretly. People will know about my existence sooner or later, so let them know now.”
Feng Xiyan’s eyes lit up at her words. ‘Does this mean she no longer objects to being seen as my fiancée?’
Feeling like he had achieved another milestone in his wife-chasing mission, Feng Xiyan smiled. “Mhm. As you wish.”
After saying that, he held Bai Hanyun’s hand and led her toward the city gate.
While Feng Xiyan was floating in bliss to the nine heavens, the sight of him holding hands with a young lady shocked the crowd.
Inside a luxurious carriage guarded by a dozen armed escorts, a young woman in expensive attire frowned at the scene.
As her gaze followed Feng Xiyan and Bai Hanyun, the maidservant beside her commented unhappily, “Young Lady, look at him. How could he hold another woman’s hand in public? How disgraceful!”
When her words fell, the young lady shot her a cold glance. The maidservant trembled and bowed deeply. “This servant has overstepped my boundaries. Please forgive me, Young Lady.”
Ignoring the maidservant, the young lady looked outside again. Seeing the couple disappear into the city, she lowered the curtain.
Sensing someone’s gaze on her, Bai Hanyun paused, turned back, and scanned her surroundings.
Walking in front of her, Feng Xiyan noticed she had stopped. Turning to look at Bai Hanyun, he asked, “Yun’er, what’s wrong?”
Shaking her head, Bai Hanyun looked toward the luxurious carriage with a faint frown. After a moment of thought, she replied, “Nothing. Let’s go back.”
Feng Xiyan studied her expression for a few seconds, followed her gaze, and spotted the distant carriage. He exchanged a glance with Feng Wu before replying, “Alright.”
While Feng Xiyan led Bai Hanyun back to his mansion, Feng Wu did not follow. Blending into the crowd, he slipped to a secluded corner and called, “Come out.”
A few seconds later, several shadow guards appeared before him.
“Captain, you finally returned,” Yi Bai greeted.
Feng Wu nodded and ordered, “Yi Bai, go protect Fairy Bai. The rest of you, follow me.”
“Yes, Captain!” the shadow guards responded in unison.
In the next second, the shadow guards instantly disappeared. While Yi Bai was heading to the Great General’s mansion, Feng Wu was leading the rest to investigate the luxurious carriage.
Back at the mansion, Feng Xiyan immediately ordered the servants to prepare hot water for Bai Hanyun.
“Send the water to my courtyard.”
The servants froze momentarily at his order before replying in haste, “Yes, Young Master.”
While they prepared the bath water, Feng Xiyan led Bai Hanyun to the main courtyard. Entering the main room, he said, “Yun’er, have a seat first. I will go get you a change.”
Leaving her in the outer room, he hurried into the inner room and opened his wardrobe. Selecting a set of new clothes for Bai Hanyun, Feng Xiyan returned and handed them to her.
Seeing her curiously looking around the room, he smiled. “Yun’er, you can change into these after your bath.”
Bai Hanyun turned, noticed the beautiful dress in his hands, and smiled. “Alright.”
Just as Feng Xiyan gave her the clothes, a servant arrived, bowed, and reported, “Young Master, the bath water is ready.”
“Mhm.”
Receiving his response, the servant bowed again and left.
Feng Xiyan then turned to Bai Hanyun and said, “Yun’er, you can bathe in the side room first. I will have something prepared to warm your body afterward.”
Touched by his attentiveness, Bai Hanyun nodded and obediently went to the side room.
While Feng Xiyan busied himself arranging everything for her, Feng Wu and the others were lying on the rooftop of Xihua Inn.
