Chapter 448: Quiet Changes
Outside the small cave, Bai Hanyun and Feng Xiyan discussed the details of their plan for a while before putting it into action.

When they were done, Feng Xiyan hugged Bai Hanyun’s waist and gently said, “Yun’er, hold on tight.”

Bai Hanyun looped her arms around his neck, nodded, and replied, “Alright. I’m ready.”

Seeing her close her eyes, Feng Xiyan chuckled softly. Lowering his head, he whispered, “Don’t worry. I won’t let you fall.”

After saying that, Feng Xiyan circulated his internal energy and activated his lightness skill. With a strong kick off the ground, he soared into the air.

The moment Feng Xiyan left the small cave, Feng Wu activated his own lightness skill and followed closely.

Last night, when the assassins pursued Feng Xiyan, he had seen a barren hill not far from the cave. After discussing it with Bai Hanyun, they decided that the site would be ideal for firing the Artificial Rain Cannon.

To save time, Feng Xiyan proposed using the lightness skill instead of walking. After Bai Hanyun considered the suggestion’s efficiency, she agreed, which led to their current situation.

As the wind rushed past her, Bai Hanyun tightened her grip around Feng Xiyan’s neck.

Sensing her fear, Feng Xiyan slowed down. He lowered his head and whispered into her ear, “Yun’er, open your eyes and take a look.”

Shaking her head quickly, Bai Hanyun replied in a trembling voice, “I… I’m afraid of heights.”

Feng Xiyan paused for a moment, then gently coaxed her, “Don’t worry. I’m here. Be brave. Come, open your eyes and see.”

Bai Hanyun hesitated for a long moment before slowly opening her eyes to peek. The instant she saw the breathtaking scenery before them, her fear vanished.

“It’s so beautiful…” she breathed in awe, watching the sun slowly rise over the eastern horizon.

Feng Xiyan looked at her expression, smiled, and let her enjoy the sight in peace.

By the time they reached the highest point of the barren hill, the sky was completely bright.

After setting Bai Hanyun down, Feng Xiyan took the Artificial Rain Cannon and a bullet from his Qiankun Pouch.

Once he loaded the bullet, he looked to Bai Hanyun. “Yun’er, stand back.”

Bai Hanyun nodded and stepped away, standing beside Feng Wu.

When she and Feng Wu had moved to a safe distance, Feng Xiyan adjusted the Artificial Rain Cannon and pulled the trigger.

Boom!

As the echo of the explosion faded, the air temperature began to drop slowly.

Watching the gathering rain clouds overhead, Feng Xiyan took out three raincoats. He handed one to Feng Wu, helped Bai Hanyun into hers, and then put it on his own.

Once they were dressed, Feng Xiyan looked at Feng Wu. “Let’s go.”

“Yes, Master.” Feng Wu nodded, activated his lightness skill, and followed behind Feng Xiyan, who carried Bai Hanyun in his arms once more.

Ten minutes after they left the barren hill, the first raindrops began to fall.

Plik… plik… plik…

Soon after, it grew heavier, becoming a full downpour.

Sha… sha… sha…

Within minutes, the cracked earth softened. The dust and dry sand turned to mud.

Under the heavy rain, Feng Xiyan, Bai Hanyun, and Feng Wu rushed toward Xiqiang City.

Meanwhile, the rain clouds continued to spread, widening the rainstorm’s range.

In an abandoned village nearby, inside a dilapidated straw house, a boy, who was so thin he resembled a skeleton, slowly opened his eyes.

Sha… sha… sha…

Turning toward the old wooden door, he stared blankly, listening to the sound of rain outside.

After a long while, the boy pushed himself up from the straw bed. Using the wall for support, he took slow, weak steps toward the door.

Reaching it, he used the last of his strength to push it open. When he finally managed to create a narrow gap—

Creak…

A rush of cool air swept into the hot, suffocating house.

The boy shuddered, freezing for a moment. Looking outside, he saw the rain pouring down from the heavens, as though the sky itself was cleansing the world from its suffering.

After a moment, the boy came back to his senses and slipped through the cracked doorframe.

Standing beneath the hay eaves, he reached out into the rain. With his small, thin hand, he gathered water into his palm.

Feeling the wet, cool sensation on his skin, the dull light in his eyes slowly brightened. After suffering from long-term thirst, he had lost the ability to speak.

Couldn’t bear the pain in his throat anymore, he raised the precious water to his cracked, pale lips.

As he drank, his eyes reddened, but he had no tears to shed.

After the first taste of water, the boy froze and then desperately reached out for more.

As he drank ravenously, door after door creaked open. On that day, in the forgotten village, the fate of more than thirty children quietly changed.

Inside Bai Hanyun’s dantian, the Yang Mirror, who was diligently cultivating to restore his spiritual energy, suddenly opened his eyes.

A moment later, a bright golden pillar shot down from the heavens, striking Bai Hanyun directly.

Boom!

Feng Xiyan was stunned by the shining beam and could only shield his eyes while hugging Bai Hanyun closer. Before he could react, his arms were suddenly empty.

He tried to open his eyes, but couldn’t, and anxiously called out, “Yun’er!”

While Feng Xiyan was frantically searching for her, floating in the center of the golden pillar, Bai Hanyun looked down and realized she was suspended in midair.

As fear filled her heart, she turned to the tall, handsome figure before her and demanded, “Who are you? What have you done to me? What do you want?”

When the handsome man heard this, he opened his eyes and met Bai Hanyun’s vigilant gaze.

Bai Hanyun stared at him warily and noticed that the golden light particles were being absorbed by him at an incredible speed, as if they couldn’t wait to merge with his body.

A few moments later, Bai Hanyun’s eyes slowly widened in realization. “…No way… You are—”
