Chapter 447: Another Gift
Sha Ying took out a secret letter and presented it to Yu Zhao. While Yu Zhao read it, he remained silent.

Moments later, Yu Zhao asked, “Who accepts the assassination mission from Wen Kang?”

Hearing Yu Zhao’s calm voice, Sha Ying couldn’t guess his mind. After thinking for a moment, he replied, “Answering the Master. We never received any assassination mission from Prime Minister Wen.”

Upon hearing this, Yu Zhao fell silent for a few seconds, then chuckled softly. “Looks like Wen Kang wants to throw dirty water on us for Feng Xiyan’s assassination.”

As his words fell, Sha Ying’s eyes flickered coldly.

“Master, should we—,” he made a slicing motion on his neck without finishing his words.

Yu Zhao handed the secret letter back to Sha Ying and calmly poured himself a cup of tea from the low table beside him.

Yu Zhao looked at the thin swirling steam floating into the air in silence, then calmly instructed, “Sha Ying, send our people to Xiqian City to meet with Feng Xiyan. Let him know that the Hong Sha Pavilion will help him fight against Wen Kang. If he asks for our reason… just tell him the truth.”

Clasping his fists, Sha Ying responded with a lowered head, “Yes, Master. This subordinate will go immediately.”

Yu Zhao waved his hand lightly. “Go then.”

Receiving his permission to leave, Sha Ying disappeared without a sound.

Left alone in the spacious carriage, Yu Zhao’s eyes flickered with amusement as he slowly swirled his teacup.

“Wen Kang, since you dare to scheme against this prince, then this prince will give you another gift in return.” He muttered lazily as a faint smile appeared on his pale lips.

While Yu Zhao enjoyed his tea and quietly formed his plan, the horse carriage finally reached the side gate of the imperial palace.

Climbing down from the driver’s seat, the coachman placed a low stepstool and said, “Your Highness, we have arrived.”

As the coachman lifted the curtain, Yu Zhao descended using the stepstool with the support of his personal bodyguard.

Just as Yu Zhao was straightening his sleeves, Qu Zhihuang, who had been talking with several old ministers and generals, noticed him.

“The Prince Regent is here. Let us go and greet him,” Qu Zhihuang said.

Following him, the ministers and generals approached Yu Zhao.

Clasping their hands, they bowed and greeted him respectfully, “This old subject greets the Prince Regent. May you be in peace and in good health.”

Smiling at them, Yu Zhao motioned for them to rise. “No need for the ceremony.”

Straightening his back, Qu Zhihuang observed Yu Zhao’s slightly rosy complexion. Relieved that Yu Zhao appeared healthier than before, he asked, “Your Highness, how is your condition today?”

Sensing his concern, Yu Zhao replied, “This prince feels better today. Thank you for asking, Imperial Chancellor Qu.”

Just then, a young eunuch arrived with a group of imperial guards and a group of strong eunuchs.

Bowing at Yu Zhao, the young eunuch clasped his fists and announced, “Your Highness, the Empress Dowager is concerned for your health and has ordered this servant to bring a sedan chair for you, so that you need not walk far.”

Yu Zhao smiled softly. “Thank the Empress Dowager for this prince.”

Upon receiving his acknowledgment, the young eunuch stepped aside and gestured for Yu Zhao to have a seat. “Your Highness, please.”

After Yu Zhao sat in the sedan chair, the young eunuch called out, “Lift the sedan chair!”

Following his command, the eight strong eunuchs lifted it, and the ministers, generals, and imperial guards followed behind.

Standing not far behind, several ministers from the neutral faction watched as the long procession grandly entered the imperial palace.

Seeing that no one else was nearby, one of them said solemnly, “The sky of our Yu Empire is beginning to change.”

Standing beside him, another sighed with concern. “It seems we will have to make our choice soon.”

The others nodded in agreement. After a brief silence, one of them looked up at the morning sky and urged, “It is almost time for the morning court. We should go now.”

With that, the ministers hurried toward the Hall of Righteousness.

While Yu Zhao delivered another heavy blow to Wen Kang and his faction in the morning court, Feng Xiyan, Bai Hanyun, and Feng Wu had just finished their breakfast.

Leaving the small cave, Bai Hanyun looked at the dried trees around them.

Seeing her staring at the dead trees, Feng Xiyan asked, “Yun’er, what are you looking at so intently?”

Questioned by him, Bai Hanyun asked back without looking away from the dried trees, “Feng Xiyan, do you think these trees are dead?”

Feng Xiyan followed her gaze and replied, “Trees have strong survivability. I don’t think these trees are completely dead.”

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun turned to him. “Feng Xiyan, is this place far from Xiqiang City?”

“It takes a day of travel by horse. Why are you asking?” Feng Xiyan asked curiously.

Rubbing her chin thoughtfully, Bai Hanyun glanced at him. “Feng Xiyan, are you in a hurry to return to Xiqiang City?”

Although Feng Xiyan was indeed in a hurry, seeing Bai Hanyun’s thoughtful expression made him change his mind. “No. If you want to do something first, I will accompany you.”

Standing behind them, Feng Wu scratched his cheek and wondered, ‘Does Master really have spare time now? Has he forgotten about the assassination?’

While Feng Wu speculated about Feng Xiyan’s thoughts, Bai Hanyun smiled and asked, “Did you bring the Artificial Rain Cannon with you?”

“I still have one.” Feng Xiyan nodded. He paused for a second, then asked, “Do you want to make it rain here?”

Bai Hanyun grinned and replied, “Last night, you were chased by assassins. Since someone wants your life, we must give them something to worry about so they don’t have time to bother us. Since we are already here, why not create a miracle?”

The moment Feng Xiyan heard this, realization flashed in his eyes. A second later, he gently rubbed Bai Hanyun’s cheek. “Yun’er, you truly are smart.”

Receiving his praise, Bai Hanyun smiled and said, “We should start now so we can return early.”

“Alright.”
