Chapter 440: Feng Wu’s Doubt
Noticing the approaching footsteps, Feng Wu flicked his long sword, and the blood splashed to the ground. Looking away from the last masked man’s corpse, Feng Wu turned in the direction of the incoming footsteps.

Seeing Hua Yuyu and the others, Feng Wu looked back at the masked men’s bodies and squatted down. As he searched the bodies, Hua Yuyu and his team approached him.

“Feng Wu, who are these people? What happened here?” Hua Yuyu asked while scanning the surroundings.

Without stopping his search, Feng Wu replied, “These people should be assassins sent by Prime Minister Wen. Since these assassins are here, my Master should be nearby.”

After he said that, Feng Wu found a token hidden inside the dead masked man’s clothing and took it out.

Seeing the black token with a red sand carving in its center, Feng Wu’s eyes flickered in surprise. ‘This is the identity token of Hong Sha Pavilion.’

Feng Wu’s fingers tightened around the token as he looked at the corpses of the Hong Sha Pavilion’s members lying on the ground.

‘There is no grudge or dealing between us and Hong Sha Pavilion. Why did they send assassins here? Could it be that their target is not my Master? Or… someone hire them? If this is the case, then the culprit must be Prime Minister Wen.’

While questions filled his mind, Feng Wu put away the token of the Hong Sha Pavilion and stood up. He then took out a small bamboo whistle from his Qiankun Pouch and blew it a few times.

Not hearing anything, Hua Yuyu and the others exchanged looks, but said nothing. They didn’t wait long before a few men in black wearing black masks suddenly appeared in front of Feng Wu.

Just as Hua Yuyu and the others were preparing for battle, the group of shadow guards knelt before Feng Wu and clasped their fists.

“This subordinate greets Captain Feng Wu. Captain, you are back.”

Feng Wu nodded at them and calmly said, “Stand up.”

After the shadow guards stood up, one of them noticed Hua Yuyu and the others. Seeing their strange clothing, one of the guards asked curiously, “Captain, who are these people?”

“These are Fairy Bai’s bodyguards,” Feng Wu said, then turned to Hua Yuyu and the others. “Brother Hua, these are my brothers from the Security and Protection Division of the Feng Clan’s shadow guard.”

After Feng Wu introduced the two parties, the shadow guards looked at Hua Yuyu and the others with admiration and respect.

Sensing their heated gazes, Hua Yuyu calmly nodded at the shadow guards. “Nice to meet you. My name is Hua Yuyu. You may call me Captain Hua or Brother Hua.”

Feeling honored that Hua Yuyu had introduced himself, the shadow guards clasped their fists in return.

“This subordinate’s codename is Sanshi Wu.”

“This subordinate’s codename is Sanshi Qi.”

“This subordinate’s codename is Si Shi.”

“This subordinate’s codename is Liushi Yi.”

Learning that all of their names were numbers, Hua Yuyu glanced at Feng Wu and thought, ‘No wonder Feng Wu’s name is also a number. It seems these people working as shadow guards don’t have real names.’

After they finished their introductions, Feng Wu looked at Sanshi Wu and said, “Sanshi Wu, escort Brother Hua and the others back to Xiqiang City. I will go to find our Master and Fairy Bai.”

Hearing this, Sanshi Wu’s eyes lit up. “Captain, do you know where our Master is?”

Feng Wu frowned slightly when he heard this. “Wasn’t your team tasked to protect our Master?”

Sanshi Wu saw Feng Wu’s slight frown and quickly explained, “Our Master tasked us to scout the area this morning. At that time, Commander and the brothers from the First Division were the only ones accompanying our Master.”

“When we saw the emergency flare half a sichen ago, we rushed here, but we found only a hundred dead masked men. Just when we were going to contact the Vice Commander to request help, we heard the bamboo whistle’s signal and rushed here.”

After listening to Sanshi Wu’s explanation, Feng Wu’s expression sank. For Feng Yi to lose contact, something serious must have happened to him and Feng Xiyan.

With that in mind, Feng Wu instructed, “You guys escort Brother Hua and the others to Xiqiang City. I’m going to find our Master, Fairy Bai, and Commander.”

Clasping their fists, the shadow guards responded in unison, “This subordinate accepts the order.”

Turning to Hua Yuyu, Feng Wu said, “Brother Hua, you can stay in the barracks and wait for me to return. I will find Fairy Bai and bring her back safely.”

Knowing he had no information about this world and that searching blindly would be dangerous and waste everyone’s time, Hua Yuyu agreed. “Alright. Please return safely.”

“Got it.” With that, Feng Wu activated his lightness skill and disappeared.

After Feng Wu left, Sanshi Wu looked at Hua Yuyu and the others, but couldn’t sense any internal energy from them.

He hesitated for a moment, then asked cautiously, “Captain Hua, this may sound rude, but may this subordinate know your level of martial arts? This subordinate will arrange transportation depending on your answer.”

Hua Yuyu had witnessed Feng Wu’s martial ability and knew that Sanshi Wu wanted to gauge how fast they could travel on foot, so he calmly replied, “We don’t have internal energy, but you don’t need to worry about transportation.”

Hearing this, Sanshi Wu and the others exchanged confused looks.

While they were waiting for Hua Yuyu’s explanation, he walked away. Standing a few meters from the others, Hua Yuyu took out two off-road military armored cars from his Qiankun Pouch.

The moment the two modified armored vehicles appeared out of thin air, Sanshi Wu and the others were stunned. A second later, they regained their senses and simultaneously drew their swords.

“Stand back!” Sanshi Wu warned, staring at the armored cars.

Realizing they treated the vehicles as hostile creatures, Hua Yuyu quickly explained, “Please calm down, brothers. These cars are our transportation. It has the same function as a horse carriage.”

Hearing this, Sanshi Wu fell silent for a long moment before signaling the others with his eyes.
