Chapter 428: Bai Li’s Ending
Hearing that the police were here, Bai Li struggled even harder. “Let me go! Bai Hanyun! Order him to let me go!”
Glancing at her, Bai Hanyun sneered and asked, “Do you think I will let you go after your attempt to kill me? Do you think my brain is flooded like yours?”
Just as her words fell, three police cars came into view. Before long, they stopped a few meters away from the bloody ground.
Stepping out of the first police car, Lu Renyi was stunned to see the bloody scene before him.
“….. Heavens… what happened here?” he asked in shock.
While Lu Renyi stared at the headless bodies and scattered heads on the blood-soaked ground, his subordinates got out of the car.
The moment they saw the scene, they turned pale. Some couldn’t hold back and rushed to the side to vomit up their food.
“Blergh~!”
As the sounds of vomiting echoed in the silent surroundings, Bai Hanyun raised her hand and waved at Lu Renyi. With a smile on her lips, she said, “Captain Lu, you are finally here.”
When Lu Renyi heard this, he came back to his senses and turned to look at Bai Hanyun. Seeing her waving at him with a smile on her lips, he felt that he needed to rethink his impression of her.
‘For an ordinary, wealthy young lady to stay calm after witnessing whatever happened here, Miss Bai is really not simple.’
With this in mind, Lu Renyi walked up to Bai Hanyun. Out of his professional habit, he asked, “Miss Bai, are you alright?”
Just as he asked this, Lu Renyi noticed Bai Li, who was pinned to the ground under Feng Wu’s foot.
Seeing Feng Wu stepping on Bai Li’s face while she struggled weakly, Lu Renyi frowned slightly, but said nothing.
Although Bai Li was a wanted criminal, for an upright police officer like Lu Renyi, seeing Feng Wu stepping on her face still made him uncomfortable.
Moving his gaze back to Bai Hanyun, he asked, “Miss Bai, can you tell me what happened here?”
Bai Hanyun noticed the slight change in Lu Renyi’s expression when he looked at Bai Li.
Motioning to Feng Wu with her eyes to release Bai Li, Bai Hanyun simply explained, “Today, on our way home from the Gu Bao Antique Store, a black car was following us. Because the road was narrow and we couldn’t lose them, my bodyguards decided to lead the car here and confront them head-on.”
“Unexpectedly, the one following us was Bai Li and her hired thugs. Since they had guns, we had no choice but to defend ourselves.”
“In the end, the situation spiraled out of control, and we were caught in a life-and-death fight. If not for my bodyguard killing the thugs, the ones dead right now would be me and my bodyguards.”
After listening to her explanation, Lu Renyi scanned the surroundings and saw several guns scattered on the ground, proving that Bai Hanyun was telling the truth.
Before he could speak, one of his subordinates picked something up from the ground.
Looking at his discovery, the police officer’s expression froze for a second before he shouted toward Lu Renyi, “Captain, I think you should see this!”
Noticing his shocked expression, Lu Renyi nodded at Bai Hanyun, then walked toward the police officer, “What did you find?”
The police officer showed him the bullets and said, “Captain, look at this.”
Squatting beside him, Lu Renyi picked up one of the bullets. Seeing it, he was stunned and asked, “Am I seeing this wrong? Are these bullets cut in half?”
The police officer nodded his head and replied in a low voice, “Captain, you are seeing it right.”
“These bullets should be cut in half with a very sharp weapon. Based on how smooth the cut is, it must have been done using a sword or a similar weapon.”
After saying that, both men suddenly paused and turned toward Feng Wu.
Seeing the long sword hanging at his waist, they looked at each other and said at the same time, “No way…”
After a brief silence, the police officer asked quietly, “Captain, have you seen those beheaded bodies?”
Hua Yuyu nodded, and the police officer continued, “Those cleanly cut wounds seem to have been made the same way as these bullets. The person who beheaded those men and the one who cut these bullets must be the same.”
Secretly pointing at Feng Wu, he hesitated for a second, then added, “I think we really need to check his sword, just in case.”
Thinking his subordinate’s words made sense, Lu Renyi nodded. “Alright. Leave this to me.”
Leaving those words behind, Lu Renyi stood up and walked back to Bai Hanyun.
Seeing that Bai Li had already been handcuffed and stuffed into one of the police cars by his other officers, Lu Renyi let out a sigh of relief.
Smiling at Bai Hanyun, he said, “Miss Bai, thank you for providing the information. If not for you, I don’t know when we would have been able to catch Bai Li.”
Bai Hanyun waved her hand and replied, “Captain Lu, you are too polite. I just did what I should do.”
Noticing that Lu Renyi kept staring at Feng Wu’s sword, Bai Hanyun took a step forward to block his view and asked, “Captain Lu, is there anything else you need from us? You see, it’s quite late now, and we still have things to do.”
Lu Renyi glanced at the bright sky and sun hanging overhead, then looked at Bai Hanyun speechlessly.
“…” It’s still so bright, but she said it’s already late? Does she live in a different timeline than I?
Ignoring his confused gaze, Bai Hanyun continued, “Since Bai Li has been arrested, I will take my leave first. Captain Lu, see you next time.”
Without giving Li Renyi a chance to respond, Bai Hanyun pulled Feng Wu and pushed him into the car.
As the car door closed, Lu Renyi turned to Hua Yuyu. Pointing at the car, he said, “Brother Hua, this—”
