Chapter 423: Kill The Donkey After It Pulls The Cart
“Miss Bai, please enjoy the tea and snacks while you wait,” Fu Jiarong said as she placed a plate of cakes and four cups of tea on the low table.
Before leaving, she glanced at Feng Wu and saw that he was staring intently at the mini cakes.
Recalling the terrifying feeling she had earlier when Feng Wu glanced at her, Fu Jiarong quickly stood up and said, “Miss Bai, if you need anything else, you can call me by pressing this blue button.”
Following her gaze, Bai Hanyun noticed a small blue button on the wall. She nodded and said, “Got it.”
After explaining the button’s function, Fu Jiarong added, “Then I will take my leave first.”
Leaving those words behind, she rushed out of the private room as if a ghost were chasing her.
Tilting her head slightly, Bai Hanyun scratched her cheek and muttered in confusion, “What’s wrong with her? Why did she run away as if a ghost were chasing her?”
Hearing this, Feng Wu glanced at the closed door for a second, then looked at Bai Hanyun and asked with expectation in his eyes, “Fairy Bai, can we eat this food?”
Bai Hanyun nodded, pushed the plate of mini cakes toward him, and smiled. “Yes. If you want more, I can ask Miss Fu to bring another plate.”
Getting her permission, Feng Wu’s eyes lit up. Taking a piece of mini cake, he said in a good mood, “Thank you, Fairy Bai.”
Sitting across from them, Hua Yuyu and the Wang brothers thought at the same time, ‘Miss Bai is good at taking care of children.’
While Feng Wu was enjoying his mini cakes and tea, time flew by in the blink of an eye.
Fifteen minutes later, Li Hu parked his blue sports car in an empty spot beside a black SUV and turned off the engine.
Glancing at the car’s dashboard clock, he grinned at Li Qin and asked, “How is it, Paternal Grandfather? I didn’t boast, right? As I said, I got you here in fifteen minutes.”
Opening his eyes, Li Qin wiped away the cold sweat from his forehead and said, “Fortunately, you didn’t drive me straight to meet Yan Wang.”
Hearing this, Li Hu rolled his eyes and got out of the car.
Coming out of the sports car, Li Qin took a few deep breaths to suppress his nausea before walking toward the entrance of the Gu Bao Antique Store.
As Li Hu pushed the door open, the bell on the door rang crisply.
Ding~ ling~!
As the sounds echoed in the spacious store, Fu Jiarong looked up from her phone and saw a tall, handsome man around her age walk in. Just as she was about to greet him, she saw Li Qin walk in behind him.
Pausing the short drama she was watching, Fu Jiarong glanced at the time displayed on her phone and teasingly said, “Master Li, you are so fast today.”
Li Qin ignored her teasing and hurriedly asked, “Where is Miss Bai?”
Knowing he was anxious to meet Bai Hanyun, Fu Jiarong stopped teasing and walked out from behind the counter.
“Miss Bai is in the private room upstairs. Please come with me.”
Just as Li Qin was about to follow her, he paused and turned around to look at Li Hu. “There is nothing you need to do here. You can go home now.”
Hearing this, Li Hu pouted and complained, “Paternal Grandfather, are you going to kill the donkey after it pulls the cart?”
Looking at Li Hu’s accusing eyes, Li Qin took out his phone and typed something.
A moment later, a notification sounded from Li Hu’s phone.
Ding!
Li Hu took out his phone and glanced at his paternal grandfather suspiciously. However, the moment he saw the incoming transfer notification, his expression changed faster than an actor of the Sichuan face-changing opera.
Putting away his phone, Li Hu smiled sweetly at Li Qin and said, “Paternal Grandfather, as your good grandson, I will follow your orders and return home.”
With that, he walked away and made a calling gesture as he added, “Call me when you finish your business. I will come and pick you up.”
Urging him, Li Qin said impatiently, “Alright, alright. You are so long-winded.”
After the door closed behind Li Hu, Fu Jiarong chuckled and asked, “Shall we go upstairs now, Master Li?”
“Yes, yes. Let’s go, let’s go.” Following her upstairs, Li Qin rubbed his hands excitedly as he thought, ‘I wonder what kind of treasure Miss Bai brought with her today.’
While he was busy guessing what kind of antiques Bai Hanyun brought with her today, they reached the private room, and Fu Jiarong knocked on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Without waiting for a response, she opened the door, stepped aside to let Li Qin pass, and said, “Miss Bai, Master Li has arrived.”
Inside the spacious private room, Bai Hanyun saw Li Qin approach with a wide smile. Standing up from her seat, she smiled and shook his outstretched hand.
“Master Li, I hope you have been well since our last meeting,” Bai Hanyun said warmly.
Seeing this, Fu Jiarong closed the door and went downstairs.
At the same time, Li Qin shook Bai Hanyun’s hand while he secretly glanced around the waiting room, but didn’t see any boxes.
Pausing for a second, he wondered in confusion, ‘Didn’t Miss Bai come today for an antique appraisal? Why didn’t she bring anything? Could the antiques be in her car’s trunk?’
Although Li Qin’s mind was filled with questions, he still greeted her enthusiastically. “Thank you for asking, Miss Bai. I have been well, just a bit sad because I haven’t found any authentic antiques recently.”
As he spoke, Li Qin gestured for Bai Hanyun to take a seat and continued, “I heard from Jiarong that you wanted to see me. Do you have some antiques you would like me to appraise?”
Seeing the expectation in his eyes, Bai Hanyun replied, “Master Li, I didn’t bring any antiques with me today, but I do need your help.”
Although disappointed, Li Qin still smiled and asked, “Oh? What kind of help do you need from me, Miss Bai?”
