Chapter 399: A Tiger Doesn’t Kill Its Own Cubs
Feng Xiyan was delighted to see Bai Hanyun’s blushing and pouting face, but he didn’t dare tease her too much for fear she would actually get angry.

He smiled softly and said in a coaxing tone, “Alright, alright, I was wrong. Didn’t you say you had a gift for me? Why don’t you show me?”

Coaxed by Feng Xiyan’s gentle voice, Bai Hanyun snorted. “Since you have admitted your mistake, I will forgive you this time.”

After saying that, she took out three metal boxes, her secondary phone, and the book filled with instructions written by Feng Wu from her Qiankun Pouch.

Looking at the Yang Mirror in her hands, Bai Hanyun said, “Yang Mirror, please help me send these to Feng Xiyan.”

“Got it,” the Yang Mirror replied lazily.

A second later, the three metal boxes, the phone, and the book vanished from the ground and appeared in front of Feng Xiyan.

Picking up the book, Feng Xiyan flipped through a few pages.

After reading for a while, he couldn’t contain his excitement and asked, “Yun’er, is what’s written in this book true? Can these things really kill people from afar and even stronger than the Qin Bow?”

Bai Hanyun chuckled at his excitement and replied, “Of course. Although BB guns and BB bullets aren’t as powerful as real guns and bullets, they are strong enough to pierce bronze armor.”

“If I had a way to buy real guns and ammunition, I would give you some. With real guns, bullets, and explosives, it would be easy for you to take over the Yu Empire and wipe out those corrupt officials, and that useless emperor of yours.”

Feng Xiyan was deeply moved after hearing Bai Hanyun’s words. Though her tone was bold, he could feel that her concern for him was genuine.

Gazing at her affectionately, Feng Xiyan said, “Yun’er, I don’t know how to repay your kindness. How about… I pledge myself to you?”

When Bai Hanyun heard this, she blushed furiously and glared at Feng Xiyan. “Hmph, you wish!”

Knowing she was embarrassed, Feng Xiyan stopped teasing her and began checking the BB guns while Bai Hanyun explained how to use them.

Behind her, Feng Wu quietly took a few steps back, trying to stay as far away as possible while pretending to be deaf, mute, and blind.

Lowering his head, Feng Wu stared at his shoes and thought, ‘Please don’t let Master notice I’m here.’

While Bai Hanyun and Feng Xiyan happily chatted, forcing Feng Wu to endure a full serving of dog food silently, the atmosphere elsewhere was far from pleasant.

Inside the interrogation room of the Xi Yang police station, Bai Yansheng sat in handcuffs, seething with rage, his expression so dark that someone could squish ink out of it.

Sitting in front of him, Lu Renyi was reading the case documents submitted by Jiang Yinqi and his team.

Seeing that Lu Renyi was ignoring him, Bai Yansheng gritted his teeth and asked, “When can I see my lawyer?”

Without looking at him, Lu Renyi replied calmly, “You can’t meet anyone for now.”

Angered by Lu Renyi’s words and behavior, Bai Yansheng slammed the table and stood up. “I want my lawyer! I won’t talk until I meet him!”

Glancing up from the documents, Lu Renyi said evenly, “Bai Yansheng, if I were you, I would stay quiet right now. You should be grateful that the one questioning you is me, and not those people from the military.”

The moment his words fell, Bai Yansheng froze.

He had only taken a few assets from Bai Hanyun and earned a bit of money using the Bai Group. Why would the military be involved in this matter?

Looking at Bai Yansheng’s confused face, Lu Renyi calmly ordered, “Sit down.”

Still in a daze, Bai Yansheng obediently sat down.

After a brief silence, Lu Renyi asked, “Bai Yansheng, was it you who sent assassins to kill Bai Hanyun?”

Hearing the question, Bai Yansheng came back to his senses. Looking at Lu Renyi with contempt, he thought, ‘So this is your goal? Heh!’

Observing Bai Yansheng’s expression, Lu Renyi could easily guess what was on his mind.

Before Bai Yansheng could speak, Lu Renyi added calmly, “Bai Yansheng, don’t even think about pinning the crime on the other shareholders. They have already confessed everything to us.”

When Bai Yansheng heard this, his expression darkened. Gritting his teeth, he thought furiously, ‘Useless trash! How could they confess after only a few hours of interrogation?!’

Although his heart was filled with anger, his mind remained clear. Clenching his fists, he paused, then slowly calmed down.

‘No, this isn’t right. If that man had already confessed, they wouldn’t be interrogating me and wasting time like this.’

As the thought crossed his mind, realization flashed through him. Bai Yansheng relaxed his clenched fists, sneering inwardly.

‘Heh. They want to trick me? Keep dreaming. From the start, the one who did everything was that man. I was never involved in the assassination, so there was no trace left behind. The police must be desperate to lie so blatantly.’

Thinking that he had guessed it right, Bai Yansheng’s expression gradually returned to normal, and his body relaxed.

Looking straight into Lu Renyi’s eyes, Bai Yansheng said confidently, “What assassination? What are you talking about? Hanyun is my daughter. How could I kill her? Don’t you know even a tiger doesn’t kill its own cubs?”

Lu Renyi listened to Bai Yansheng’s argument calmly.

Before leaving the Bai Group’s headquarters, he had already exchanged information with Lei Jingqian, Hu Chaoyang, and Jiang Yinqi. With the evidence and information gathered by the four of them, it wouldn’t be difficult to lock Bai Yansheng behind bars for life.

However, Lei Jingqian, Hu Chaoyang, and Jiang Yinqi wanted to catch the mastermind behind Bai Yansheng, so Lu Renyi had no choice but to get Bai Yansheng to talk and see if they could extract anything useful from him.

Seeing how smug Bai Yansheng was, Lu Renyi smiled slightly and slowly said, “Bai Yansheng, you are not Miss Bai’s father. Have you forgotten that you are just an adopted son of the late Chairman Bai?”

The moment Lu Renyi’s question fell, Bai Yansheng’s smug expression froze instantly. “How did you know?”
