Chapter 384: Fate
Seeing Gui Xiaoxu fall into deep thought, Ke Ting asked, “Boss, should I decline his request to meet you?”
After a few seconds of thought, Gui Xiaoxu raised his hand and responded, “No. Accept it. If he really wants to talk about the Xue Wu Gang, we can use this opportunity to stay off the military’s radar.”
Hearing that, Ke Ting’s eyes lit up. Giving Gui Xiaoxu a thumbs up, he said, “Boss, you are a genius! I will arrange it right away.”
Before he could leave, Gui Xiaoxu added, “The Bai Group scandal is all over the news. It’s the perfect time to lie low. Tell the others to stop receiving any requests and close the black market for now. Let them stay hidden and wait for further instruction.”
Understanding instantly what he wanted to do, Ke Ting replied, “Got it.”
After Ke Ting left the office, Gui Xiaoxu looked out at the bright sky through the floor-to-ceiling glass door. As tranquillity returned to the spacious office, his dark, unfathomable eyes slowly filled with coldness and calculation.
Half an hour later, the Bai Group’s shareholders’ meeting finally ended.
Leaving the meeting room, Hu Chaoyang and Jiang Yinqi went directly to the chairman’s office on the top floor of the building.
Pushing open the door, the two of them paused in their tracks when they saw the scene before them.
Exchanging looks, the two of them had the same thought at this moment. ‘Since when has the chairman’s office turned into a gaming hub?’
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Bai Hanyun looked up from her phone. Seeing Hu Chaoyang and Jiang Yinqi standing there, she smiled and asked, “Has the meeting ended? How was it?”
Coming back to their senses, Hu Chaoyang and Jiang Yinqi walked to the couch and sat down in the empty seats.
Jiang Yinqi poured a glass of water, drank it all, then said, “It’s done. I will prepare the share transfer documents and send them to you later.”
“Alright.” Bai Hanyun replied, then turned to Hu Chaoyang and asked, “Brother Hu, Assistant Ruan said you have something to tell us.”
Hu Chaoyang nodded and explained, “Hanyun, I think you should stay here and officially take over the company.”
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun tilted her head slightly and asked, “Why? I think our current arrangement is quite good.”
“As the largest shareholder, you should lead the company.” Noticing her reluctance, Hu Chaoyang paused before asking, “Hanyun, is the reason for your reluctance to come here that you have another plan?”
Bai Hanyun handed her phone to Feng Wu, then looked at Hu Chaoyang and explained, “Brother Hu, I’m actually in the process of building a live broadcasting headquarters.”
“The company’s already registered, and the goods are ready. Once I hire some live streamers and staff, and everything is on track, I plan to open an antique store in Fu Cheng Town.”
When Lei Jingqian heard this, he recalled the antiques Bai Hanyun had brought to Gu Bao Auction House before.
Staring at her, he thought, ‘This Miss Bai is really mysterious. Not only does she have a wide connection, she also has the wealth to deal with Bai Yansheng and the other shareholders.’
‘If the Bai family is this powerful, why do they still stay in this Xi Yang City instead of going to Shang Du City? Also, why didn’t she want to work in the Bai Group? Could it be that there is some reason behind that?’
Glancing at Hua Yuyu and Lu Renyi, he frowned slightly.
‘I wonder how these two first got involved with her. Is it really a coincidence that all of us are somehow connected to her… or has this all been part of her plan from the beginning?’
Unaware that her simple dream of a salted-fish life had caught Lei Jingqian’s attention, Bai Hanyun grinned at Hu Chaoyang and added, “So, Brother Hu, please help me take care of the Bai Group from now on.”
Hu Chaoyang studied her for a moment, then sighed and said, “Alright. If that’s what you want, I will do as you say.”
Seeing that they had finished talking about business, Jiang Yinqi looked at Lei Jingqian and noticed he was playing games with Hua Yuyu, Feng Wu, and Lu Renyi.
Jiang Yinqi raised his brows slightly and asked curiously, “Captain Lei, do you all know each other?”
Lei Jingqian nodded. “Yes. When Captain Hua was still active in the military, we used to cooperate on missions together.”
Jiang Yinqi then looked at Lu Renyi and asked, “What about you, Captain Lu? How do you know Captain Lei and Brother Hua?”
Lu Renyi looked up from his phone and explained, “Ah, I know Captain Lei through Brother Hua. Brother Hua and I were roommates at the military academy.”
Hearing this, Jiang Yinqi couldn’t help but marvel at fate.
Sitting beside him, Hu Chaoyang remembered something and said, “Zuquan told me this morning that Captain Lu is his gaming guildmate. Assistant Ruan also said that Captain Lei is his childhood friend.”
Listening to what he said, Jiang Yinqi sighed and said, “Alas, after all that was happening before, it turns out everyone is friends.”
After finishing the game, Lei Jingqian put away his phone and said, “CEO Hu, Attorney Jiang, I have a few questions for the two of you. Can you answer them?”
Hu Chaoyang and Jiang Yinqi exchanged a glance, then nodded.
Standing up, Hu Chaoyang said, “Captain Lei, let’s talk in the side room.”
Seeing the three of them heading to the side room, Lu Renyi also put away his phone and followed.
Bai Hanyun watched their backs, thought for a moment, then stood up and said, “Brother Yinqi, Brother Hu, I will take my leave first. My flight to Fu Cheng Town is this evening. If you need anything, just call me.”
Before entering the side room, Jiang Yinqi turned around and asked, “Hanyun, do you need me to drive you to the airport?”
