Chapter 380: The Shareholders’ Meeting (2)
“Mhm, I will remember it.” Ruan Hanlin said, then he turned to Hua Yuyu and added, “Please take care of the Eldest Young Lady.”
“Leave it to me.” Hua Yuyu responded as he looked into Ruan Hanlin’s clear eyes.
Before leaving, Ruan Hanlin gave Bai Hanyun another smile, then hurried away.
While they were talking, Gao Gong and the others were checking the waiting room. Not finding any hidden cameras or recorders, he reported, “Captain, the place is clear.”
“I have already hacked into their security system and erased our traces,” Bao Shengjie said with a hint of pride in his voice.
After confirming the room was safe, Hua Yuyu turned to Bai Hanyun and said, “Miss Bai, you can relax now.”
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun let out a sigh of relief and sat down on the couch.
While they were waiting, Hu Chaoyang, Hou Zuquan, and a group of assistants stepped out of the elevator on the thirty-seventh floor.
As they walked toward the meeting room, Hou Zuquan reported, “CEO Hu, everyone has arrived.”
“Good.”
Arriving at the meeting room, Hou Zuquan pushed open the double doors and stepped aside.
The moment the doors opened, more than fifty people inside the spacious room turned around.
Without glancing at them, Hu Chaoyang confidently walked inside, followed by Hou Zuquan and the others.
While the assistants took their seats at the back, Hou Zuquan pulled out the main chair for Hu Chaoyang. Once he was seated, Hou Zuquan stood beside him with his table ready.
Looking at the shareholders, Hu Chaoyang said coldly, “Let’s begin.”
Leaning back in his chair, Bai Yansheng smiled and said with a hint of expectation and pride in his voice, “CEO Hu, the invitation we received yesterday said you have something important to announce. Since everyone is here, why don’t you just tell us what you want to announce?”
Hearing this, Hu Chaoyang looked at Bai Yansheng and calmly responded, “Director Bai, you are as impatient as ever.”
After saying that, he signaled Hou Zuquan with his eyes.
Upon receiving the signal, Hou Zuquan typed something on his tablet, and an image appeared on the large screen to the side.
The moment Bai Yansheng and the other shareholders who were in cahoots with him saw what was displayed, their expressions stiffened.
Hu Chaoyang saw every single change in their expressions and knew it was time to strike.
“Director Bai, I believe you know these people, right?” Hu Chaoyang asked coldly.
Snapping back to his senses, Bai Yansheng clenched his hands tightly under the table and chuckled. “CEO Hu, how could I possibly know those people?”
Although he tried to act nonchalant, the slight tremble in his voice betrayed him.
Hu Chaoyang had already predicted Bai Yansheng’s reaction when he saw the pictures of the assassins sent to kill Bai Hanyun after she left the Bai family.
“Is that so?” he asked, his eyes narrowing.
Noticing the probing tone in his voice, Bai Yansheng narrowed his eyes and shot back, “CEO Hu, is this the reason you called us here today? If that’s the case, I don’t think we should waste any more time here.”
Just as he stood up, Hu Chaoyang said, “Director Bai, why are you in such a hurry? There are still many things we need to discuss today.”
At his signal, the assistants stood up and distributed a document to everyone present. When they were done, they returned to their seats in silence.
Hu Chaoyang gestured for the shareholders to take a look and waited patiently.
A few moments later, one of Bai Yansheng’s allies slammed his palm on the table and shouted furiously, “This is slander!”
Looking at his face reddened from anger and anxiety, Hu Chaoyang smirked.
Soon, more and more shareholders stood up and began shouting angrily.
“CEO Hu, what do you mean by this?!”
Hu Chaoyang calmly turned to the big-bellied shareholder and replied, “As you can see, these are investigation reports on money laundering, corruption, and tax evasion—all of which you are responsible for.”
Hearing this, the man clenched his fists and asked through gritted teeth, “Since when?”
Knowing what he meant, Hu Chaoyang’s eyes turned cold.
He looked at the shareholders and said, “Since the day Chairwoman Bai invited me to be the acting CEO of the Bai Group, I have conducted a background check on everyone involved with the company in the past two decades.”
At those words, the big-bellied shareholder looked at him in horror and shouted in disbelief, “Impossible! The number of people connected to the Bai Group in those years would exceed ten thousand! How could you do that in such a short time?”
“Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean I can’t,” Hu Chaoyang calmly said. He then paused for a second and asked, “Have you forgotten who I am?”
The big-bellied shareholder froze at his words, realizing that he truly had underestimated Hu Chaoyang, forgetting his background simply because he had accepted the offer to serve as the Bai Group’s acting CEO.
After the reality sank into his mind, the big-bellied shareholder slumped back into his chair, his sweaty face full of despair.
Seeing this, Hu Chaoyang ignored him and turned his gaze to the others.
While Bai Yansheng’s supporters sank into despair one after another, the neutral shareholders exchanged uncertain looks.
After a moment of silence, the largest of the neutral shareholders asked, “CEO Hu, I assume you didn’t show us these documents just to hold them accountable. Why don’t you tell us what you really want?”
Hu Chaoyang glanced at his watch and knew it was time. Just then, the door swung open, and Jiang Yinqi entered with his team.
When the shareholders saw him, their expressions changed.
The largest shareholder looked back and forth between Hu Chaoyang and Jiang Yinqi, then asked as a bad premonition grew in his heart, “Attorney Jiang, why are you here?”
Hearing this, Jiang Yinqi took the document his assistant had handed him and placed it on the large oval table.
