Chapter 338: My Morning Protein
****************

CHAPTER 339

~Valerie’s POV~

My heart skipped several beats as my lips parted soundlessly.

My breathing was shallow and uneven. What was I supposed to answer? I didn’t even know what I’d be agreeing to… entirely.

Was it an occult group that dealt with more than just killing? Was it demonic? Did they practice dark magic?

All I have learnt and was taught did not seem to help me with my decision as I wondered if it was an invitation… or a trap?

The elegant writing on the page almost seemed to pulse under my gaze, like it was alive, like it was waiting for me to make a choice.

“Astra…” I whispered internally, my voice shaky. “Do I… answer?”

My wolf stirred faintly, her presence pressing warmly in my mind.

“Be careful, Val. It may very well be Nightshade Thorn, but…” She hesitated, her usually confident tone laced with unease. “…but I don’t know what to make of this.”

I swallowed hard, torn between scepticism and an inexplicable pull deep in my chest.

My fingers trembled as I hovered over the page, heart pounding so loudly I was sure someone outside could hear it.

And then the writing burst into tiny streaks of dancing flames, curling and consuming each letter like it was daring me to act before it was too late.

Before I even realised it, I breathed out, “Yes.”

The page shivered beneath my fingertips as if the very fabric of the parchment had absorbed my answer.

In an instant, the word “Yes” bloomed on the paper in bold, purple ink, pulsing once… twice… before it burned away completely.

I stared down at my empty hands, the cream-colored paper now nothing but ash that vanished like smoke. Only the heavy golden key remained in my palm.

My breath hitched. “What… just happened?” I murmured.

“You just tied yourself to something,” Astra answered softly, her voice curling around my thoughts like a wary whisper. “Whether that’s good or bad… I can’t tell yet.”

I nodded faintly, even though she couldn’t see me. “Tomorrow,” I whispered. “Tomorrow, I’ll find out more.”

Clutching the key, I tucked it safely beneath my pillow, stripped off my clothes, and padded toward the bathroom.

The hot water was supposed to wash away my nerves, but the more I thought about that letter, the heavier my chest felt.

When I finally collapsed onto my bed, damp-haired and exhausted, my stomach growled, reminding me I hadn’t eaten.

But my body was too drained to care. I let the exhaustion pull me under, sinking into a restless sleep.

—

By the time I woke up, it was barely dawn. Night still greeted the academy.

My breath caught instantly, though, because that weird, electrifying sensation between my legs had returned — the same one I’d been waking up to for the past two weeks.

Only… this time it was stronger.

A startled gasp escaped me as I shifted beneath the covers, my heartbeat thundering wildly. Heat pooled low in my belly, sharp and demanding, and my breath came in uneven bursts.

Then, as I blinked blearily down, I noticed movement.

My covers had slid slightly, pooling around my waist. And there — against the pale skin of my inner thigh — a curtain of soft, silvery hair glimmered faintly in the early morning light.

My throat went dry, my heart stuttering violently.

“N-No way…” I whispered, voice shaky, my lips trembling as I tried to speak his name.

“X-Xade…”

But it didn’t come out as a call. It came out as a moan.

I froze. My breath caught in my throat, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might burst right out of my chest.

Xade’s silvery hair brushed against my thigh as his warm breath ghosted over my skin, making shivers ripple up my spine.

I wanted to move, to speak, to do something, but my body refused to obey me.

Then, I felt it.

The slow, deliberate drag of his tongue against the sensitive skin near my core.

A sharp gasp tore from my lips, my back arching instinctively as heat exploded low in my stomach. “X-Xade…” I breathed out shakily, my voice barely a whisper.

He didn’t answer.

Instead, he hooked his hands around my thighs, spreading them wider, holding me down with a strength that made my pulse race even faster.

Every brush of his tongue was agonizingly slow, almost teasing, until I was trembling beneath him, my breath hitching in ragged bursts.

“Please…” I didn’t even know what I was begging for — release, mercy, more — but the word slipped out anyway, broken and needy.

Xade chuckled softly against my skin. The sound vibrated through me, making me gasp again.

“I haven’t even started yet, little wolf,” he murmured, his voice rough, edged with hunger.

Then he did start.

His pace quickened, his tongue working me with devastating precision while one of his hands slid upward, gripping my waist possessively.

I fisted the sheets beneath me, my nails digging in as wave after wave of sensation crashed over me.

“Oh, f-fuck~” I whimpered, biting my lower lip to keep from crying out too loudly, but it was useless. Every flick of his tongue, every graze of his teeth, sent me spiralling closer and closer to the edge.

“Xade—!” I gasped his name, my voice strangled and breathless.

He finally glanced up at me, his piercing eyes locking with mine, molten silver burning with wicked satisfaction.

My chest heaved, my cheeks flushed crimson, and yet he looked completely in control, like a predator savouring his prey.

“You’re trembling already,” he teased darkly, his lips brushing my skin. “Tsk, love…”

I moaned helplessly, my body betraying me as I clenched around nothing, desperate and aching.

Then, just as I felt myself teetering on the brink, he slowed… torturously.

I groaned in frustration, my hips bucking slightly. “Xade… don’t stop…”

His smirk deepened, sinful and wicked, as he rose slowly from between my thighs, his face glistening faintly, his breathing heavy but controlled.

His eyes dragged up my flushed, trembling body until they locked on mine again, sharp and unrelenting.

He leaned over me, his lips brushing against my ear as his hot breath made my entire body shiver.

“I can’t wait,” he whispered, voice husky and dripping with promise, “for my turn to ravish you… as I please, my morning protein.”

My entire body jolted at his words, heat surging through me so intensely that it left me breathless, and I fell back, my eyes pulling close.
