Chapter 274: Chapter 274
Seraphina’s POV
“I’m sorry.” The words kept spilling out. “I’m so sorry. I should have been patient. Should have investigated with you instead of just—”
My voice broke. Again. I couldn’t stop crying. Couldn’t stop the guilt crushing my chest.
“I pushed you away when you needed me most.” The confession hurt. “If I’d just listened. Just trusted you. We could have figured this out together.”
Damien’s arms tightened around me. Pulled me closer against his chest. His warmth. His heartbeat steady under my ear.
Real. He was real and alive and here.
“Sera.” His voice was soft. Gentle. “Stop.”
“But I—”
“Stop.” He cupped my face. Tilted it up so I had to look at him. Those silver-blue eyes meeting mine. “You’re here now. That’s what matters.”
“I almost lost you.” Fresh tears fell. Hot against my cheeks. “You were dead. Actually dead. And I thought—”
“But I’m not dead.” His thumb brushed away my tears. “I’m right here. Because of you.”
“Because I didn’t trust you,” I choked out. “Because I believed lies instead of—”
“Because you’re human.” He pulled me back against his chest. His hand stroking my hair. “Because you saw evidence that looked real. Because Gabriel and Emma are very good liars.”
His heartbeat thrummed against my ear. Steady. Strong. Alive.
“I should have known better.” My fingers clutched his shirt. “Should have known you’d never—”
“Shh.” He pressed his lips to my hair. “We’re okay now. That’s what matters.”
I lifted my head. Looked at his face. At those eyes I’d thought I’d never see again.
“I love you.” The words came out fierce. Desperate. “I love you so much. I’m sorry I didn’t say it enough. I’m sorry I—”
He kissed me.
Soft. Gentle. Like I might break.
I kissed him back. Harder. Needing this. Needing him. Needing to prove this was real.
His hand cupped the back of my head. Fingers tangling in my hair. The kiss deepening. Becoming something more.
Something that said we’re alive and together and nothing else matters.
When we finally pulled apart, we were both breathing hard.
“I love you too.” His forehead rested against mine. “Always have. Always will.”
We stayed like that. Just breathing. Just holding each other. Just being.
The tent flap rustled behind us.
“Alpha?” Lucas’s voice. Hesitant. “Are you—can I—”
“Come in.” Damien’s voice was stronger now. More himself.
Lucas stepped inside. His face was a mess. Dirt and blood and tear tracks he hadn’t bothered wiping away.
His eyes landed on Damien. On me in Damien’s arms. On both of us alive.
His face crumpled. “You bastard.” The words came out choked. “You fucking bastard. I thought you were dead.”
“Can’t get rid of me that easily.” Damien smiled. Weak but real.
Lucas crossed the tent in three strides. Grabbed Damien in a hug. Hard. Desperate. “Don’t you ever do that again. Don’t you ever—”
“I’ll try not to.” Damien hugged him back. One-armed. The other still holding me.
Lucas wiped his face roughly.
Damien shifted. Started to stand.
“Whoa.” I grabbed his arm. “You just came back from the dead. You need to rest.”
“I’m fine.” He was already on his feet. Steadier than he should be. “Better than fine actually. Whatever you did—whatever that healing was—I feel stronger than before.”
He rolled his shoulders. Tested his range of motion. No pain showed on his face. No weakness.
“The wounds are completely gone.” Lucas was staring. “Not even scars.”
“Alpha mate healing.” Damien looked at me. Something warm in his eyes. “My incredible mate’s gift.”
I flushed. Looked away. “I didn’t even know I could do that.”
“Your wolf knew.” He touched my face gently. “She knew exactly what to do.”
“We should move.” Lucas straightened. All business now. “The warriors are waiting. They need to see you’re alive.”
Damien nodded. “Agreed. Let’s go.”
We stepped out of the tent together. Into the morning light. Into the chaos of the camp.
Warriors everywhere. All of them stopped what they were doing. Stared.
At their Alpha. Who’d been dead. Who was now walking among them like nothing happened.
“Alpha!” Someone shouted. Then everyone was shouting. Crying. Celebrating.
They surged forward. Damien held up his hand. Instant silence.
“I know what you all saw.” His voice carried. Strong. Commanding. Pure Alpha. “I know you felt my aura vanish. Thought I was gone.”
Murmurs of agreement. Heads nodding.
“But I’m not gone.” He gestured to me. “Thanks to your Luna. Who brought me back. Who saved my life.”
All eyes turned to me. I wanted to shrink back. Disappear. But Damien’s hand found mine. Squeezed.
“She’s also discovered her true nature.” Pride colored his voice. “She’s not omega. Never was. She’s Alpha. Pure Alpha blood.”
Gasps. Shocked faces. Some looked skeptical. Others awed.
“Her wolf emerged to save me.” Damien continued. “Silver-white. Powerful. Magnificent.”
“And she killed Valerie.” The words came out before I could stop them.
Damien turned. “You killed her?”
I nodded. “Poisoned her. With the same poison they used on you.”
His lips curved. Not quite a smile. Something darker. “Good. She deserved worse.”
“Voss escaped.” Lucas stepped forward. “Sera wounded him badly but he crawled away. Into the forest.”
“How badly?” Damien’s voice went cold.
“His stomach was torn open.” I swallowed. “Deep wounds. Heavy bleeding. He won’t get far.”
“We need to finish this.” Damien looked at Lucas. “Gather everyone who can fight. We’re hunting him down.”
“Sir.” Lucas hesitated. “You just—you were dead. Maybe you should—”
“I’m fine.” The words came out sharp. Final. “And this ends today. Voss. His rogues. All of them.”
He turned to address the gathered warriors. His voice rising. Carrying across the camp.
“Voss thought he could destroy us!” Damien’s words rang out. “Thought he could kill your Alpha and claim this territory!”
Warriors straightened. Hands going to weapons. Eyes hardening.
“He was wrong!” Damien’s voice got louder. “We’re still here! Still fighting! Still strong!”
“Today we end this threat!” He raised his fist. “Today we hunt down every rogue! Every traitor! Everyone who dared attack our pack!”
The warriors roared. A sound of pure fury and determination.
“Find Voss!” Damien commanded. “Find him and bring him to me! And any rogue you encounter—any enemy who stands in your way—”
He paused. Let the silence stretch.
“Kill them.”
The words hung in the air. Cold. Final. Absolute.
“No mercy!” His voice rose to a shout. “No prisoners! Anyone who sided with Voss dies today!”
The warriors exploded.
Howling. Shouting. Weapons raised. Pure battle fury.
“For the pack!” Someone yelled.
“For the Alpha!” Another voice joined.
Then everyone was shouting. Chanting. The sound building. Growing. Becoming something primal and terrifying.
Warriors pounded fists against chests. Against shields. Against anything that would make noise.
