Chapter 784: Gaoh the Black Knight
The red-skinned teacher sat on the desk and took out a book—its cover showed many demonic-looking creatures.

“Boo!”

“Boo!”

“Boo!”

The children booed at the sight of the book’s cover, and their parents just laughed as well as they remembered when they had the same reaction as kids.

The teacher opened the first page and started reading:

“The demons beyond the mist—humans—are responsible for the Great Death that happened many, many years ago.

“Their bodies are tainted with evil—vessels of the darkness itself—and the Great Protectors of the mist rose from their slumber to protect us from them.

“However, every now and then, those evil humans manage to get through the mist and come to our land to steal our children, kill our loved ones, and spread chaos and destruction.”

The teacher read.

The children stayed quiet with their hands clenched, and their anger towards humans burned wild like the hottest flames of hell.

“…That’s why, children, we must grow strong!

“The prophecy shared from our beloved ruler of the Silver Castle has yet to come true, but one day it will.

“The evil forces of humanity will one day sail through the fog and sweep across our world, ravaging and burning through our lands!

“We cannot let that happen!”

The teacher shouted.

“…Shitty humans.”

“…I will kill them all!”

The children gritted their teeth.

…

A village house’s window was slightly open. Just a little bit. It was enough for black smoke to slither inside.

When inside, the black smoke turned into a gray-haired young man—Kiernan Hunter.

“…”

Kiernan looked around the house and went through every room, absorbing every detail.

He then went through the kitchen’s cabinets—he only found some wooden bowls, spatulas, big spoons, and a few pots and pans—all wooden.

‘…Everything is pretty normal.’

He then saw a photograph—it showed a happy family.

‘I wonder if we jumped to conclusions when it comes to these people. Maybe they are not that bad, as it does seem like they are as normal as us, humans.’

Kiernan thought.

…

“…You found anything?”

Pankratios asked.

Kiernan, Antigone, and Liora sneaked back, as they were given the responsibility of going to check out the houses.

“Nothing.”

Kiernan said.

“…I didn’t find anything.”

Antigone said with a sigh.

Liora only shook her head.

“It is just a small village, so I am not all that surprised, but there must be a place where they horde all the books.”

Pankratios said with a frown.

In that moment, his eyes widened.

It wasn’t only him.

Xerxus and Imperius stood up and turned around to look over to the sky. They could sense something horrible approaching.

At that moment, a large black dot appeared in the sky, growing larger and larger with each passing second.

It was soon close enough to be obvious that it was a dragon—and not just any, but a metal-scaled black dragon!

“ROAR!”

The black dragon roared loudly for the world to shake around it.

“Hide!”

Pankratios shout-whispered, and everyone hid behind boulders and other large rocks, hoping the dragon wouldn’t notice them.

The black dragon fell over them and slowed down its speed. It landed at the village square, breathing heavily.

The golden-feathered griffins seemed scared, and they all flew away from their own home, which they would never do unless the danger was just incredibly significant.

In that moment, the teacher, children, and their parents left the school building and went to welcome the black dragon.

“Good sir, what do we owe this pleasure to?”

At that moment, the village chief came—an elderly man—and asked the black dragon in a trembling voice.

The black dragon lowered its head, and everyone saw that somebody was riding the dragon. The figure stepped down.

“Sir Black Knight!”

Everyone knelt on the ground and bowed their heads in respect. They didn’t look fearful anymore, but only extremely respectful.

“Rise yar heads.”

The old man said.

He had short gray hair with scars running down his face alongside some wrinkles. Despite being old, he was built like a brick house with explosive muscles and shoulders as wide as his body allowed.

That man was powerful!

The village people stood up and started clapping their hands and jumped in one place in joy at the sight of him.

It looked strange to members of the Martial Order, as it looked like a bunch of people fake-celebrating their dictator.

Instead, it was just the way that the red-skinned people showed their utmost love and loyalty to their superior.

“What’s the name, if I may ask, great sir, of the Black Knights?”

The village chief asked humbly.

“…Gaoh, the 30th Black Knight under the service of the Great Lady of the Silver. I have come here on an urgent matter.”

Gaoh said.

“It must be serious. What is it?”

The village chief asked.

“…Humans have sent their warriors to our land, and we have reason to believe that they are close by.”

Gaoh said with a cold expression.

The village people looked shocked, and panic started to creep in, and they all looked truly frightened.

“Do not be ‘fraid, I am here to protect each and every one of you.”

Gaoh said.

His words brought comfort to everyone, but they were still afraid, as anybody would be after hearing about demons being nearby.

“…”

Peeking over the hill, Pankratios’ face looked pale, and he went back to hiding by the boulder, where everyone else was.

“Is something wrong?”

“…Yes. We’ve been exposed. I don’t know how, but that guy who rode that black dragon here knows about us and doesn’t seem pleased that we’ve come.

“…Worst of all, that guy is a True Immortal.”

Pankratios said with a heavy expression.

‘True Immortal?!’

Everyone screamed inside their minds.

Kiernan also shed some cold sweat and knew that was indeed very horrible news and was shocked that there was someone so strong here.

Pankratios, Xerxus, and Imperius were all False Immortals—it was the first stage in the Immortal Stage, and after that was the Demi Immortal stage.

True Immortal was beyond Demi Immortal, and it was the last rank before the infamous Martial God Stage.

It meant that guy at the village could become the next Martial God of the generation!
