Chapter 550: Back Home_Part 2
Hence, just like always, he ignored them and gulped down his blood, focusing only on finishing his drink so he could leave.
But once people got the idea that they could pick on him, certain that there would be no consequences whatsoever when it came to the first son of the Dagons, the men rose from their table, eager to prove their point that Max was a fool, all good looks and no sense of how to fight like a man.
They had bullied him before, more than once, back when they had first relocated to Velmere and laid eyes on the grown son of Lord Dagon. At first, they had wanted to befriend him, but when he didn’t respond the way they expected, they bullied him instead. Even then, he never said a word to his father, nor did he ever fight back.
Now, the three young, arrogant vampires left their table and moved to surround him where he sat, gulping down glass after glass of blood.
“Good evening, Dagon. Tell us, how was it at that academy? Have you become a licensed doctor yet?” asked one of the men, Hunter, who had a toothpick lodged lazily between his teeth.
Max ignored him completely, as though he hadn’t been addressed at all.
Hunter snorted, then jerked his head toward his friends. In unison, they grabbed their mugs and poured the blood beer over Max’s head.
Max barely flinched as the liquid drenched his hair, soaked his clothes, and ran all the way down to his boots, the strong stench clinging to him like an insult layered atop another. He didn’t even blink.
“See what I told you, girls?” Hunter taunted loudly. “He doesn’t fight. He’s a sissy and a fool, always has been. And going to that academy didn’t change a damn thing. He’s got holes instead of a penis between his legs.”
He roared with laughter, his friends joining in as though he had just told the funniest joke in the universe.
“His parents must’ve given birth to the wrong gender,” another sneered. “That sister of his, though, she’s nothing like him. The bitch fights like a man and is screwed up in the head. She beat up Austin just because he touched that brother of hers. But this one?” He gestured at Max. “What a pity.”
Angel’s fingers tightened around his mug. They were crossing dangerous waters now, involving Rosey, and his baby brother, but he said nothing. Instead, he reached for another glass of blood and gulped it down.
Then another voice crossed the line.
“She’s hot,” Hunter said with a provoking grin, turning his gaze directly on Max. “If only she acted like a woman instead of a hellion. I’d give anything to taste her between—”
Some people simply don’t know when to back down. No matter how patient one may be, there is always a breaking point. Insult him as much as you like, Maxwell would never raise a finger to fight. But insult his family, disregard his sister, and you would get far more than you bargained for.
The slap with the glass of blood came so suddenly that no one saw him move.
In the blink of an eye, the young man was no longer seated.
He stood right in front of them, smiling politely, after slapping Hunter to kingdom come, knocking him unconscious with a single blow. And before anyone could even process what had happened, he grabbed a chair and slammed it hard into the face of the next vampire who had dared speak crudely about his sister, breaking the chair in the process, along with the unfortunate vampire’s eyes.

Rosey stood before the mirror in her room, hands on her hips as she looked at her handmaid with pursed lips.
“I am not wearing a dress tonight. My brother is no stranger whom I need to put up an appearance for.”
“My lady, Lady Belle told me to tell you that you are to wear a dress and not your regular attire for the dinner,” her handmaid said as she held out a beautiful azure dress that Rosey stared at in distress, like she was being handed something utterly disastrous, because it was. She hated dresses and avoided them as much as possible unless for certain occasions.
Just to keep her handmaid from forcing her, Rosey took the dress and dismissed the girl. Unlike many noble women, she had been raised to do her own bidding despite having a handmaid. Her mother didn’t raise her and her brothers to be demanding nor commanding to their house help.
After the maid left, Rosey put the dress away and brought out her trousers and shirt, which she had pleaded with her father long ago to get for her. And just as he always gave her everything, he had gotten her several sets and stored them in a trunk.
Unfortunately, Mama didn’t like her dressing like a boy.
She didn’t see why she needed to put up an appearance simply because Angel was coming home. It was Angel, her brother, not some suitor who came calling to ask for her hand. Those men never lasted anyway. In the end, they always ran the moment they were alone with her and she showed them her real self.
She couldn’t help her excitement about her brother’s return and the occasion that was finally bringing him home after years of being away.
She dressed quickly, excitement bubbling inside her at the thought of her elder brother, someone she knew she could share things with, someone who would understand her just like their father did. She had many things she needed to tell him.
Unable to wait any longer to find out when he would arrive, she opened her mind link and connected it to Angel.
“Are you in Velmere already? You shouldn’t have turned Papa down when he said he would come and pick you up. You’re taking forever to arrive!” she complained the moment their link connected.
Her brother let out a small chuckle before his calm voice answered, “Don’t scream my ears out, Rosey. Look out your window.”
Rosey ran to the window, pulled the curtains aside, and peeked through the glass, spotting a figure landing in the middle of the grounds below.
“You’re here!”
She gathered the mass of her blonde hair and tied it up in a way that made it look short and unladylike, then rushed out without touching up any makeup so she could be in the hall by the time Angel walked in.
She had just stepped out of her room when she collided with her younger brother, Finn, who was also running, hurrying down after spotting their elder brother landing outside from the window.
He bumped into Rosey without stopping to apologize, nearly making her lose her balance. He was bigger and taller than her now, but she reacted quickly, opening her wings and reaching out to grab him by the back of his shirt. With a sharp tug, she yanked him backward with enough force to send him sprawling onto the floor. She then tugged hard at his blue hair, making him yelp.
“You little piece of mud! You always think that because you’re as tall as me, you can do as you please. Tsk, I’ll teach you a lesson,” Rosey said with a smirk. “I am seven years older than you, Finn. Apologize, or I’ll pull out your scalp!”
Finn had been born a year after Angel went away to the academy, but unlike their elder brother, he had their father’s bronze skin, blue hair, and was born with wings and teeth, like the little devil he was. It had been said he had been born like that because their mother now shared a mark with their father which made her carry a part of the demon blood that gave Finn the advantage of being born with more percentage of the demon side in him, his growth had been as sudden as his birth had been. He wasn’t even in the womb for more than five months!
