Chapter 545: Family Dinner_Part 2
Evenly walked into the dinning hall, with her son walking ahead of her. After the words Rohan had spoken to her so many months ago in the cottage, Evenly had begun to take care of herself and cope with her grief by writing letters and sending them to the wind, pretending she was sending them to a husband in a faraway land, working away from home.

It cleared her mind, especially when she received replies to a few of the letters, though at first she had suspected it was Angel or his father who had written them in Rav’s handwriting to make her make-believe even more convincing. She didn’t know how either of them had made it possible for her to receive replies that sounded so awfully like Rav, but she kept writing every day, hoping to receive more.

Angel had once told her when she asked if he was the one writing the replies, ‘It’s not me, nor Papa, that much you should know, Enny. I told you, I will bring back Uncle Rav someday. Believe me, and believe every letter reaches him. Keep writing.’

Evenly knew the people she lived with had extraordinary powers, and they could make some things possible. She had never failed to write the letters and wait for the replies that came once or twice a week.

They talked about their children, and she told him about each progress in their growth, as if he were indeed in another land. She asked when he would be back, but he never answered that question and only asked another. In one of his letters, he had told her that writing to her and having her write made him feel present in their lives, and he wished he were there.

Every time she read his letters, it brought tears to her eyes, as she missed him so much and wanted to truly believe he was the one writing to her.

Their twins had just turned one year old a few weeks ago, and because of the vampire blood in their son, he could already walk, unlike Elle, who was still learning.

Aryen, with his black ebony hair and very pale skin like his father, had light red eyes and dimpled smiles, which he carried often. The moment he walked into the hall, where Evenly noticed they had guests present, Aryen immediately made his presence known as he began to run toward Rosey, hopping and trying to jump at the same time. He could now match her aggressive playfulness since he had learned to walk, but before he reached her side, he tripped over his own feet and fell face-first onto the floor in front of the demon guests.

Before anyone could reach him to pick him up, one of the demon guests, Zyran, rose from his chair and lifted the boy gently from the floor into his arms. He walked toward Evenly, whom he had noticed the moment she stepped into the hall, finding her strikingly beautiful and unable to take his eyes off her.

Zyran was a demon searching for a woman to bear his last seed, and he had not found one yet, especially since their king had been urging him to do so in order to bring more demon children into the world, like his twin brother had his twin daughters.

This vampiress, whom he could tell did not have a husband, as no other man seemed to claim her attention, caught his interest. Carrying her son toward her, he smiled his most charming smile, the kind that often made women melt. But Evenly only offered him a necessary polite smile and took her son from his arms, muttering a soft, “Thank you.”

She began to walk past him, but he quickly stopped her by saying, “I am Zyran, the son of Emris.” He introduced himself while silently hoping she would be the one to bear his seed.

He was desperate to find a woman willing to carry his last seed, and he had no desire to search far and wide for one, especially as he did not have a pact with any dark witch at the moment. Since she was a widow, he wondered if she would do him the honor, if fate might be kind enough to place her in his path, though he wisely kept those thoughts to himself, wanting her to at least fall for his charm first before such intentions were ever spoken aloud.

“Nice to meet you, Zyran,” she said without offering her own name, but he pressed further.

“What is the name of the lovely lady, if she doesn’t mind my asking?”

“Evenly Christian Hathaway,” Evenly replied, hoping the formality would make him abandon whatever intentions he might be forming, as she had no interest in another when her heart already belonged to someone else. The demon, however, didn’t seem to catch the hint and stopped her from walking past him again. Thankfully, this time Rohan came to her rescue.

“Back off, demon. She’s taken and has a man. Go find yourself a woman willing to give you a night and a child you can take back to your world. Every woman in this house is off-limits,” Rohan said nonchalantly as he lounged in his chair, watching the scene unfold.

Zyran immediately bowed in apology to Evenly, pulled her chair out for her, and then returned to his own seat, skulking slightly as Ereves would not let him off unless he secured a child of his own, just like his twin brother, who already had twin daughters, girls who could, in no time, seduce any man into giving them an offspring if they do desired.

Female dark demonesses were rare and far fewer in number than males, and it seemed Reed was the first dark demon to have been blessed with two demonesses at once.

Belle quickly called the servants, whom Rohan had assigned from the closest village on the mountainside, to begin serving the food and clear the awkward moment that had followed after the demon had tried to make a move on her friend.

Soon, the dishes were served, along with wines and blood wine. The dinner went on just fine, though not entirely smoothly, as Rohan and his father kept finding reasons to bark at each other and exchange sarcastic remarks across the table. Belle took it as proof of how similar they were and how neither of them wanted to fully accept it, especially her husband, who denied every aspect of his resemblance to his father as though it were a disease.

They also seemed to like the same dish, but Rohan refrained from reaching out for it when he noticed his father already taking some. Instead, he changed his mind and began eating the cut, well-prepared vegetables he hated, just so he wouldn’t prove, at least to himself, that he was similar to Ereves
