Chapter 538: The other realm_Part 2
Rohan had a feeling what he was about to do was nothing but crazy, but he did it anyway. He liked crazy things, only he couldn’t believe he was going to such an extreme, stepping into another realm so different from all the others he knew to help Ereves. He had studied the demons of light for hours, and now he was standing before an open portal that would take him into their world.
The demons of light were no different from those of darkness; only the light ones were made to blend in with humans if they wished, as the light of day never bothered them like it did those of darkness. Just because they belonged to the light did not make them any better than the ones belonging to the dark. The only thing they did not do was make pacts with witches and pull people into sin, but they had their bad sides and ways, like feeding on human energy and sucking life force to avoid aging and to maintain their power.
Many of them lived among humans, and no one could tell them apart unless they stepped back into their world and revealed their true forms. Their world was a place that naturally repelled demons of darkness unless a demon of light took you into it. But Rohan was different, he wasn’t a full demon.
He rolled up his sleeves and muttered, “I hope I’m not going to regret doing this.” Then he stepped into the portal, which immediately sucked him into another world that made his eyebrows rise in surprise.
“Okay, I wasn’t expecting this,” he mused to himself, looking around at an entirely different world where everything was bright and buildings were tall and advanced, like stepping into a civilization far beyond the rest of the world, with black-stoned roads. People, no, more correctly, demons, were moving down the streets, going about their days, but his sudden appearance drew their attention.
Rohan realized he was the only being dressed in dark attire, and his tanned skin stood out against the fair, white-skinned people, who wore bright clothing.
Everyone was staring at him, and most of the demons on the streets were women and children. There was a saying that the female demonesses were walking seduction and completely irresistible, and he could see why many believed that. Ereves had warned him about their women, but Rohan didn’t even let his gaze linger more than a second on any of them. Yet whether you paid them attention or not, it wasn’t up to you to decide if you wanted their attention, because a few of them began to walk toward him while he was still looking around.
Though Rohan was part demon, if he didn’t reveal what made him a demon, that part of him stayed mostly suppressed. To them, what they saw was simply a very tall, devastatingly handsome man appearing out of nowhere on the streets of their world.
It wasn’t unusual, demonesses often invited men from other realms in to have their fun, but resisting him was another matter entirely. He was too good-looking to be ignored. He was dark, with the most perfect set of facial features, dressed in a black shirtsleeve with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, a few buttons undone from his throat to his chest, giving them a glimpse of a glimmering, bronze, strong chest.
The females walked with seductive grace, all of them with unusual eye colors, purples, shades of blue, and greens. They clearly didn’t know he was a dark demon, because some came even closer, swaying their hips and batting their lashes at him.
“Where can I find Thomas?” he asked a woman who stepped forward without a word, circling him as if examining an exotic item, giving a nod of approval to the other women.
“He is good and strong. Handsome and dark. I want to keep him. He is mine,” the demoness declared, and the other women began to back away. Female demons were known to step out of their world and claim men who caught their attention; they seduced the man into their world and placed a permanent claim on him.
Since the demoness was the first to step forward, she had already put a claim on Rohan in her own mind. “What is your name, handsome?” she asked, rubbing his shoulders and beginning to touch his chest. But Rohan stopped her immediately by grabbing her wrists and crushing them.
“Not a chance, demon,” he said with a grin that didn’t change his expression at all. “I am a married man with two beautiful children, and my wife won’t like it when she hears that you touched me. I hate repeating myself, but I believe you didn’t hear me the first time. Where can I find your lord, Thomas?”
The smile stayed on his lips, but it didn’t reach his eyes. His eyes suddenly darkened, the whites disappearing completely and revealing his identity as a dark demon. The women around him drew back in shock.
“Dark demon!” they gasped, running backward, as only their lords were capable of confronting a dark demon, who were known to be more powerful than their kind.
The demoness Rohan was gripping winced, almost fearfully, and said, “I will show you.”
“Good.” He let go of her hands, and she led him away from the streets, where demons were running to hide in their homes. Rohan had expected to be led to another purely white place, but where the demoness was taking him looked like a brothel with darker coloring and loud, flaring music that made his head ring and throb as if it would explode. He hadn’t come prepared for such noise, but he did not show it as he stepped into the building.
Half-naked demonesses, with only white sheets covering their nipples and private parts while the rest of their bodies were exposed, danced and moved around males who all had fair-colored long hair, silver, white, and unusual shades of blonde. Had it been him before, he might have found the women alluring, but now he was irritated as they began to touch him. Noticing his eyes and horns, they stepped back.
The demon leading him had blended into the crowd of women, and Rohan found himself in the middle of the chaos, the loud music assaulting him. Cursing under his breath, he realized he would have to take matters into his own hands. His eyes zeroed in on the source of the music, and he opened his wings, flying to the platform where the instruments were playing, without any musicians. He set them all on fire, burning everything down and finally gaining the attention of every single demon present.
Rohan realized how utterly garish and obnoxious the collective eyes of the crowd were, far too colorful for his liking.
“How can you all survive with such loudness?” he inquired, sticking a finger to his ears and rubbing them to wipe off the remaining vibrations of the music.
“Who let a dark demon out of the dungeon?” demanded one of the male demons, thinking Rohan was one of their prisoners.
“How did he get here?!”
“Okay, now before you all start wondering and raising chaos, I am here to see Thomas. Which of you is he?” Rohan asked, arms folded across his chest as he looked down at them from the platform he was standing on. Ereves had said Thomas was like their king, a leader, the one who had a say among all the others, the most powerful of the demons of light, and that was who Rohan would have to defeat in order to have command over the rest.
“Who are you?” another demanded, as no one had the right to call their lord by his name.
“Rohan Dagon,” Rohan said. “I am here to release the demons you have held as prisoners for over a hundred years.”
His confidence and the arrogant way he carried himself made the light demons let out a laugh. One of them in particular, who stood in the front with long silver hair, looked up at Rohan where he was standing.
“I admire your courage, Dagon, but you have no sense coming into our world just to release prisoners. How did you even get in here?” the demon asked, a smile playing on his handsome face, but behind the smile something entirely different was lurking, and from the way he asked, one could tell he intended to kill whoever had dared bring a dark demon into their realm.
“I see, you are Thomas,” Rohan said matter-of-factly.
“How did you know?” asked Thomas.
“You smell powerful. Though I hate to say this, I am the son of Ereves, the king of darkness,” he announced, just as Ereves had instructed him, knowing that many of them feared him, fear that ran so deep they could not even destroy Ereves without seeking help outside their world many years ago.
