Magus Supremacy - Chapter 734
Chapter 734: Day of Revelation (2)
CHAPTER 734

“I see…” Yami muttered with a deep sigh.
An hour had passed, and throughout that long stretch of time, Grey steadily divulged everything about himself, his origin, his world, and the life he had lived so far.
During his narration, the night sky had fully blanketed the world beneath thick, dark clouds as thunder rumbled endlessly above.
Occasional flashes of lightning split the heavens, followed by loud cracks of thunder that further amplified the solemn yet heavy atmosphere surrounding his revelations.
The mage spoke about how he was always bullied and weak, how he lived his early years powerless and insignificant.
He talked about the day he learned of his father’s death and how despair had consumed him to the point where he wanted to end his own life, only for fate to intervene.
He explained how a powerful mage summoned him, revealed the truth of his dormant potential, and spoke of a destiny Grey never believed he deserved.
From there, he spoke of unlocking his affinities one after another, of the countless dangers he faced, and how he nearly lost his mother on several occasions.
He talked about enrolling into a magical academy, forming friendships, and learning what it meant to trust others.
He spoke of missions undertaken together, of bickering and clashes, of bonds forged in battle.
He explained how he made an enemy of the vice principal’s first son and how their rivalry escalated into brutal confrontations.
Grey continued, talking about encountering a race of elves and how they treated him with kindness rather than fear.
He explained how he helped save their community and how the elf leader’s daughter eventually chose to leave her homeland to follow him.
Then he spoke about the academy tournament, about the beast break that occurred, and how two of his friends lost their lives during the chaos.
After that battle, he returned home only to be confronted by a Zodiac affiliated with the otherworlders, a man who ultimately murdered his mother.
He explained how their clash destroyed multiple houses within his town district.
He spoke of how the man attempted to escape by drawing a portal, only for Grey’s uncontrollable rage to scatter the symbols, resulting in his accidental teleportation to the forest of this world.
He explained how he managed to overpower and kill the man, though it came at a terrible cost.
He had been battered and bloodied beyond recognition, injured more severely than ever before since his awakening.
At that moment, he truly believed he would die.
“That’s how I lost my memories and woke up in your house, with all of you standing over me that day.”
“…I see.” Yami whispered, the room sinking into silence once more.
The couple calmly processed everything Grey had said, their thoughts spinning as they tried to grasp the magnitude of his experiences.
“And you were fifteen years old when you awakened and fought beasts stronger than yourself?” Yami asked quietly.
Grey simply nodded in response.
The couple exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them.
‘He has been through far too much at such a young age.’
They finally realized that the mage before them had endured hardships that forced him to mature far earlier than he should have.
He never truly had the chance to enjoy childhood, moving from one life threatening battle to another before he even understood what living meant.
Now he was eighteen years old, yet he carried himself like someone who had lived through dozens of lifetimes.
Grey welcomed the brief silence.
He reached for the bottle of alcohol once more and took a slow drink, reflecting on his pain and the weight of his memories.
He could no longer deny it or hide from it. He missed his home. He missed his friends, the people who had become his family back in his world.
“Th…this is a lot to take in,” Clarice whispered, staring at Grey with teary eyes as she felt the pain behind every word he spoke.
He had been orphaned at such a tender age.
Even though he did not witness his father’s death, he had helplessly watched his mother get impaled by a sword.
Thinking about it more deeply, Clarice finally understood why Grey had snapped the day she was nearly pierced by shadow and wind blades.
It was because, in that moment, he was reliving the day his own mother was taken from him in the very same way.
Could it be what triggered him to regain his memories?
In two minutes, Grey was done with the bottle as he gently slammed it on the ground with a satisfied sigh.
“Haaa…”
“Hpmh.” Yami muttered as he stared into Grey’s eyes, which had reddened from him holding back his tears and from the alcohol he had just consumed.
The two mixed together in his mind, soul, and body, almost making his eyes glow crimson as he forced a faint smile.
“Honestly, I’m at a loss for what to say,” Yami continued. “My mind refuses to come up with anything comforting.”
“That’s because you know nothing beyond fighting and acting like a brute,” Clarice snapped at her husband.
She then gently turned toward Grey, her expression softening into a warm, maternal smile.
“…You might have lost your parents, and I know we can never replace their value in your life because they brought you into this world.”
She paused, letting her words settle deeply into his heart before continuing.
“But you can consider us your second parents, and we promise to love you unconditionally, just like we always have.”
Hearing this, something clicked in Yami’s head as a grin spread across his face.
He stood up unsteadily and staggered toward Grey, then dropped down beside him and gently pulled the mage’s head into his arms.
“Judging from what you said, you never really had enough time to form memories with your dad since he was always busy trying to provide for the family.”
He paused, then slowly patted Grey’s hair, stunning the young mage.
“…But I promise you this. I won’t just be a mentor to you. I’ll try my best to fill that fatherly void. You can consider me your daddy.”
Clarice shot him a sharp glare.
“…Okay. That sounded weird.”
Yami laughed, and Grey did too as he gently disengaged himself from the embrace.
“…Thank you,” Grey said quietly.
“I truly appreciate both of you. From the moment I lost my sense of identity, you took care of me without hesitation.
If you had left me alone in that forest, I don’t know if I would have survived those injuries.”
He paused, his voice trembling slightly before he continued.
“…And even if I had survived on my own, I know I would have walked a different path than the one my mum set for me. I would have become something ugly. A menace.”
He lifted his head, his crimson eyes glossy as he looked at Yami and then Clarice.
“But you didn’t let that happen. You filled my life with love when I thought I had lost everything.”
“So for that, I’m deeply thankful. Thank you so much.”
Yami and Clarice smiled warmly. The older man reached out and ruffled Grey’s hair once more.
“You’re welcome, champ.”
A loud clap of thunder resounded outside as rain suddenly began pouring from the darkened clouds.
The wind howled softly, as if anticipating what was about to be said next.
“I guess it’s time we reveal our own identity as well,” Yami said, his tone shifting. “We’ve been secretive for a while, waiting for you to regain your memories first.”
He slowly lifted his gaze toward the stormy sky, a deep frown settling on his face.
“…Well. Here it goes.”
Exhaling sharply, Yami turned back toward Grey, his expression turning grave and fearsome.
“Grey… our family is not what it seems. We are dangerous.”
