Chapter 689: Fifth Affinity finally unveiled!
CHAPTER 689
Back at the Cromwell residence, Noir had just finished his massacre and decided to check up on Clarice, who was hiding in the small building off to the side.
Shrinking back in size, he zipped through the house, appearing directly in front of the older woman who clutched her knees to her chest, sobbing softly while staring at Vanessa’s and Millie’s bodies.
Along with Yami’s students.
“Oh good, you are okay,” Noir’s voice resounded in the woman’s mind.
But it was not the fact that the wolf could speak that irked her. It was what he said that made her face twist as she glanced toward him.
“I am… I am okay? Do I look okay to you? I just lost two kids in a single day. My husband has lost his students. I lost my house, the very place where I trained my children for years.
I lost everything, and I do not even know if Grey is alive or dead wherever he is fighting. And you say that I am okay?!”
She yelled loudly, scolding the wolf as if he were her own child.
Hot tears streamed down her face as she glared at the familiar, who remained silent for a brief moment.
“You lost two kids in a day, so what? Your husband’s students are dead, so what? You lost your house, so what?” Noir asked, his gaze fixed firmly on Clarice.
“What?!” the woman shouted, disbelief flooding her voice as if she could not comprehend what the familiar was saying.
“I am a familiar. I do not feel emotions, and even more so since I am one of the great four Familiar Kings,” Noir began, his eyes never leaving her trembling figure.
“Ever since Grey lost his memories, I could not show myself to him, so I watched from the corner of his mind.
I watched the affection your family showered on him. You made him feel like he was your biological son. That warmed even my heart.
You are not the only one pained by the death of your girls. Grey is too. I saw how close he was to them, how deeply they loved him. He is shattered inside. He is broken.”
The familiar paused, observing as Clarice’s lips quivered while she listened.
“You said you lost your girls, but you still have two children. You have two sons. Finral, and now Grey. Your husband’s students are dead, but he can train others. Your house is gone, but it can be rebuilt.
But do you know what cannot be regained? The way your girls looked at you. There is no doubt they are not here right now, but they could be watching you.”
Clarice froze, staring around the room as tears cascaded down her cheeks.
“Do you think they would be happy watching their mother crumble? Would they smile seeing you broken and refusing to take revenge for them?
Those who attacked today are not just random enemies. They are a full organisation, filled with monsters far stronger than this. Grey seeks to erase them all.
Are you not supposed to stand beside him? To support him as his new mother?”
Noir paused again, watching as Clarice’s shoulders shook violently, her head lowered.
“I… I do not know what to do.”
“Yes, you do!” Noir snapped with a low growl.
“Wipe those tears. Strengthen your resolve. Make sure your girls receive justice. They will not find peace unless you stand tall and fight for them.
You may not be the one to kill their murderer today. Grey will handle that. But you can still help in the war against the Otherworlders.
Stand up and show the world a mother’s resolve. Stop sulking like a child. Even Millie, who was still young, would not cry like this.
Tsk. Pathetic.”
Hearing this, Clarice slowly looked up.
It felt like Noir’s words struck a chord deep within her as she ceased crying.
Her trembling hands shot up, wiping her tears while forcing a smile out. Her teeth gnashed back and forth as she stared at the bodies surrounding them.
“I promise, no matter what, I will make sure I grow stronger. I have always been a stay at home mum, watching from the sidelines and not interfering.”
Clarice squeezed her hands tightly while speaking through gritted teeth, her knuckles turning pale from the pressure.
“But enough of that. It is time the world sees a mother’s wrath. It is time those Otherworlders pay massively for all the sins they have committed. I will make sure that I support my son, Grey, in doing that. That is my promise.”
Her voice shook slightly, but there was steel within it, a firmness that had not been there moments ago.
Noir’s furry face curled into a smirk.
“And that is the spirit. Now come on. Lock this house up. Let us go look for Grey and watch how he takes care of your kids’ murderer himself.”
Clarice sniffled softly as she rose to her feet, her legs still shaky but her resolve firm. She nodded once, ready to do as the familiar said.

Back at the mountaintop, Z5 had just been sent crashing through the mountain, crumbling the entire structure as his body shot out of it and collided with the forest in the distance.
His body finally came to a halt.
Blood dripped from his head down his face as his breathing turned uneven. Slowly, he staggered and forced himself to his feet.
Both his arms were gone.
One had been erased as if it never existed. The other had been ripped off brutally, blood still gushing from the stump.
He huffed, gasping for air.
Each breath made his insides burn as if they were set ablaze.
Tremendous pain surged through him, far worse than anything he had ever experienced before.
His vision blurred, the world spinning faintly.
“Cough, cough!”
He hacked violently, blood spewing from his mouth with every cough.
“You have always wanted to know what my fifth affinity is, right?”
Grey’s voice streaked through the air as he slowly descended, landing five metres away from Z5, who struggled to steady his breathing.
“Well, let me do you the honour of showing you instead of racking through your brain.”
Grey grinned as he watched Z5 shuffle weakly on his feet.
Even without his arms, Z5 braced himself. Wind ruffled around his body, coiling tightly, ready to explode forward in a desperate attempt to attack.
“Spatial Magic: Portal of Transportational Agony.”
Z5’s eyes widened in pure horror as the words left Grey’s mouth.
‘Spatial magic? The rarest of ma…’
His thoughts collapsed before they could fully form.
In an instant, portals swirled open.
They were not his shadow portals. These were ashen in colour, dull and ominous.
The portals opened all around Z5, from every direction, numbering more than a dozen.
From each one, a crackling sound echoed as the tips of enormous lightning spears slowly emerged, electricity surging violently around them.
“Go!”
Snap!
