631: No use delaying things.

631: No use delaying things.

Chapter 631 A week had passed since the academy’s tournament and then the demon attack.

The students were still recovering from the shock of all the people they lost and hence training and studies were paused, giving the students a break for the past one week.

Though the majority wanted to leave the academy for their various houses or clans, the academy refused, keeping them back from leaving, insisting it was for their safety.

Many students were frustrated, some confused, while others simply felt trapped.

The atmosphere across the academy felt heavy, a mixture of grief and uncertainty hanging in the air like a thick cloud.

Sera, after returning back to the academy after the attack, went straight to the higher ups in pure rage.

Specifically to Leo, to demand the reason why backup was not sent.

And this was the reply she received.

“Trust me Sera, I wanted to come down as soon as possible.

Honestly, when we got the message of the attack, I was on my way coming but…” Leo muttered, his hands clenched as he ground his teeth back and forth as if he was restraining his anger.

“But what?

Because of you all, Kent died, a lot of students died!

I would have died too if it wasn’t for some sort of miracle that saved us all!

The least you owe me right now is a good damn explanation why things went this way.” Sera retorted as she glared at the vice principal.

Leo just sighed as he stood up from the seat and then looked around the room before turning back to Sera.

“When the leaders got the news of the attack, they left immediately.

They all went to their various clans and Selene instructed and threatened that I stay back at the academy.” Leo replied as he clenched his hands tightly to the extent that his knuckles turned pure white.

“Why?

Why did they do this?” Sera questioned again with her teeth grinding back and forth.

“They returned because they were worried that the demons might actually attack their clans.

They were not sure if the coliseum was the only location of an attack.

They thought since a lower echelon appeared, more might have been dispatched to their various clans hence they needed to leave and protect their people.

And Selene threatened me to stay back because Orion was not around, and since the principal was not, as the vice principal, I needed to protect the academy.

I needed to defend it in case an attack got here too.

And I was to wait behind just in case the demons attacked Orion’s clan.

I was to go defend it since he was not around.

I begged and refuted, asking to come help at the coliseum, but even Rowen butted in saying I should stay back, and hence I was forced back and could not even come help you all.” Leo replied as he tightened his grip on the head of the cane in his hand.

“Damn it!

Those old bozos!” Sera thundered in anger as she kicked a chair with immense force, sending it flying out of the room and scattering into splinters.

“Their damn kids were back at the coliseum fighting for their lives, on the verge of losing it, and they decided to go running back to their damn clans.

If their kids had died, would they have had any successors for the damn clan?

Tch!” “You should know that the leaders do not have just one kid, so I guess it was easy for them to sacrifice those at the coliseum for the sake of their clans.

Even though it currently sickens me to the core, there is nothing I can do or say about it.” Leo replied as he clenched his hands tighter again, staring out the window.

“So what now?” Sera asked with a huge frown on her face.

“Now?” Leo asked as he heaved a sigh and then turned towards the female instructor before looking her straight in the eyes.

“Now we have no choice than to prepare ourselves better because we are now at war.” __ Meanwhile, Grey could be seen on the roof of the academy.

Over the past few days, since there were no classes to attend, he became fond of coming to the roof and sitting down.

He usually stayed there for long hours, quietly observing the academy grounds below, reflecting on everything that had happened.

The gentle breeze brushing against his skin made the silence feel almost comforting, yet beneath that calm, a storm of thoughts churned within him.

He should be down training, but he didn’t feel like it for days.

Luckily, the potion Thalos had fed him also regenerated his limbs, and now, he had his two arms fully functioning once again.

He was now left with just a single potion in his pendant while he looked ahead.

From where he was, he could not really see the town where the academy was located, but he could still make out all the key spots and places within the academy grounds.

The wind softly stroked his hair as his eyes scanned and observed the academy while he remained grim in thought.

‘That attack, the demons, it is no mistake to say that I have been added to their hit list after what I did that day,’ he thought as he heaved a long, tired sigh while rubbing his temples.

‘My enemy list keeps growing on a daily basis, and it is beginning to give me a headache.

Even though I am now a stage 3 warrior, I still feel weak compared to the sheer number of enemies I have amassed.

Thalos has also evolved.

Earlier, if we were to compare his ranking to that of beasts, he said he was at the rank of a divine beast, on the cusp of being a primordial beast.

Now that he has evolved, it means that he is as strong as a primordial-ranked beast, a rank just below that of the god tier-the highest rank a beast can achieve.

Hpmh!

What a valuable ally,’ Grey muttered inwardly with a wide smirk on his face as he stroked his chin.

‘Luckily, those who saw his gargoyle form promised not to tell the higher ups.

Hence, he is back in the academy in the guise of a human, and a weak blue band student at that.

I haven’t even seen instructor Gunther since,’ he thought with a small frown on his face as he stared ahead.

“I have decided,” Grey said as he rose from his sitting position.

“I need more allies, not just any allies, but powerful ones.

I can feel a war brewing, and I don’t want to be caught unaware and lacking.

I think it’s time for me to visit the Noxarian faction to get…” His words trailed off as he heard the roof door open, causing him to spin around worriedly, only to see three familiar faces stepping through.

“Hey Grey, I feel like there’s no use delaying this any longer,” Rivock said as he stepped into view with Noelle and Mada beside him.

“Huh?” the Supreme Magus muttered with a raised brow.

“We need to talk,” Rivock replied with a soft smile as Noelle proceeded to shut the door behind them, the sound echoing slightly across the rooftop.
