Magus Supremacy - Chapter 623
623: Abandoned?
623: Abandoned?
Chapter 623 “Blood demon art: Strings of horror.” Gil coldly muttered and in front of all humans, visible blood red strings shot into the air and all of them began sprawling along his back.
They shot out of his back, dozens upon dozens of red strings swirling and wiggling from his body as if they were alive… as if they were tentacles, and their tips pointed forward as the demon stared at the duo who, despite everything happening, still took a stance without flinching.
“I don’t need to tell you what this can do.” The demon calmly said, a strange contrast to its earlier murderous tone.
In a split second, the strings shot forth at crazy speed heading towards the duo.
‘Shit.
These are much faster than the invisible strings from earlier.’ Grey thought as a pair of lightning boots instantly appeared around his feet.
‘Not enough.’ He hyped himself again as Ki swirled around the soles of his feet.
‘Still not enough.’ Wind magic finally coiled around his legs and then a thunderous bang shook the air loudly as the Supreme Magus sprang forward like a blur… like a phantom slicing cleanly through the storm of strings and trying his hardest to dodge them.
But as if they truly had a mind of their own, several of the strings curled back instantly, shooting towards his back with eerie precision.
Spinning around mid-air, he immediately pointed his hands like a rifle while still darting backwards.
“Wind pulse ultra.” He called out and a sharp mini bang erupted as compressed wind, sharp like a bullet, shot from his fingers, smashing into the tip of the incoming strings and slightly veering them off course.
He spun again, checking where he was headed, only to see the demon directly in front of him with more strings coiling around its foot.
Gil hurled that leg forward with terrifying force, causing it to streak toward the human at high speed.
“Shit!” Grey spat as the wind howled around his body, aiding him to spin away in an instant.
But the kick was too fast and the strings boosted it even more.
The leg smashed into his cheek with brutal force.
Blood red strings tore into his skin as the Supreme Magus was blasted away violently.
His cheek ripped open and blood sprayed across the air.
“Damn it!” Rivock muttered as he moved as fast as he could.
The effect of the blue pill had already worn off, leaving him with only his normal speed against the countless barrage of the blood red strings.
His Ki swords moved like a blur, clashing with the dozens of strings while his arms burned in pain.
But he refused to give up.
He swirled, darted and weaved around, dodging some that nearly impaled him.
Still, the strings were too many and began breaking through his defence.
One shot forward faster than he could react, heading straight for his head.
Rivock leaned to the side at the last second, making the attack smash into his shoulder instead.
It sank deep, too deep, and blood spewed instantly from the torn flesh.
He was not given a single moment to recover.
Another string broke through his defence and stabbed into his thigh, ripping a fresh line of pain that shot through his nerves.
Blood sprayed again, warm and thick.
And soon enough, more strings were closing in from every direction.
The battlefield shook with each clash as Rivock’s breathing grew heavier.
His grip tightened, his legs trembled and his eyes burned with determination.
Even though he was getting pushed back step by step, he still refused to crumble.
Every slash he threw was filled with stubborn rage, and even as his wounds multiplied, the descendant showed no sign of backing down.
He could feel his heartbeat pounding like a drum, each thump warning him that one mistake would mean death, but he still pressed forward, swinging as if the world depended on it.
Pew, Pew, Pew, Pew!
More strings sliced through the air, lodging into his non-lethal parts and restraining him there, blood dripping from every injury as the descendant was now unable to move his body.
‘Wait!
Why can’t I move?
Wh… why does it feel like my movements have been restricted?
Like I’m paralysed?
Shit!
Don’t tell me that these strings have paralysis effects.
Damn, this is bad.’ Rivock groaned inwardly as no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to even twitch a finger, talk more of a muscle.
“I warned you all right from the start, no one is a match for me.
How do you expect to beat an echelon?
We are just below our leader in strength and you think you can defeat me?
Ask your damn leaders!
Those old enough to remember the past!
Ask how they fucking lost against the demon race if it wasn’t for a particular meddling mage that disrupted our plans.
His saving grace was that the upper echelons couldn’t arrive on time otherwise humanity’s meager victory would not have been achieved.
And I’m here, here to reclaim that victory and show those old geezers up there that they are powerless against us!” Gil shouted, making sure everybody could hear him clearly while the direct descendant remained stuck to the strings piercing his body.
“You all keep fighting, fighting and trying to beat me.
Why?
Why the hell are you fighting?
For this shitty academy?
For the sake of victory?
For humanity?
You want to save humanity?
Tch.
Your efforts are all in vain.
I have been here for an hour and a half now, why haven’t you all been rescued?
Your shitty leaders aren’t even here.
Do you know why?
You have all been abandoned.” The demon declared as its cold gaze swept across the coliseum, watching the faces of the students drop like stones.
“They don’t care about you all.
Whether you are their kids or not, they don’t give a fuck.
All they care about is their positions, their clans and their pockets.
They let me kill hundreds of you already and I will still kill more, and they won’t do shit.
That’s the kind of situation you are all in.
Abandoned and left to die.” it finished, its voice echoing like poison through the air.
The humans looked on the verge of breaking down, their minds spinning as they tried to absorb everything the demon was saying.
Some of them even wobbled where they stood, doubt creeping into their eyes as fear twisted their thoughts.
“And who decided that?” Grey’s voice cut through the tension as he slowly staggered from where he had been sent hurling earlier, blood spraying from where his cheek was supposed to be.
“They abandoned us huh?
And so?
You think I also give a fuck about them?
Heck no.
Those old geezers can all go to hell for all I care.
I’m not fighting for humanity, never will I.
I’m also not fighting for this shitty academy.
Heck, it can burn to the ground for all I care.” “Then why do you keep fighting?
Why do you still get up so many times even after I hurl you away?” The demon calmly asked.
“Why the hell are you still fighting?!” It shouted the last part, fury ripping through its voice.
“I’m fighting,” Grey sighed as he sucked in a deep breath and then pointed his hand forward.
Instantly, a sword appeared in his grip.
“I’m fighting because you think you are better than I am and I want to prove you wrong.
I want to show you that you are so beneath me.” “Prove it then.
Prove me wrong.” The demon coldly said as the ground trembled slightly beneath their feet, the air tightening between them like the calm before a deadly storm.
