Magus Supremacy - Chapter 607
607: Was it worth it?
607: Was it worth it?
Chapter 607 In a strange realm, a sea of white flooded the entire space.
It stretched for as far as the eyes could see, endless and silent, almost as if time itself refused to move here.
A spotless sea of white that made one feel this place wasn’t ordinary and might belong to someone extremely powerful.
In this realm, two chairs stood facing a floating holographic image suspended in the air.
The display showed the battle currently happening in the coliseum.
The clash between the humans and the lower echelon demon raged on, violent and chaotic, yet this realm remained calm.
Two figures sat on the chairs.
One had short brown hair, his hands trembling slightly, not from fear but from anxiety and helplessness.
The second man was draped in a flowing white robe without a single stain on it.
His long white hair was tied in a ponytail, and his expression remained unreadable as he stared at the hologram.
He exuded a quiet pressure that could suffocate anyone weak-willed.
This man was one of the first generation of mages.
One of the first mages whose name was Blake.
A powerful mage who summoned Grey the day he intended to end his life and revealed to him the potential the Supreme Magus carried.
This same Blake worked in the shadows to ensure the Supreme Magus remained safe.
He even went as far as sealing Grey’s memories so he would not remember who he was, what he was, or where his true home lay.
For an entire year now, the Supreme Magus had been wandering with no clear idea of his real identity.
And currently, Blake and the brown-haired man watched the hologram displaying the battle unfolding in the coliseum.
“I don’t understand.
Why isn’t Grey doing anything but just standing there?” the brown-haired man asked, frustration clear in his voice.
“What can he do?
I already said this before.
At his current power level, he doesn’t have the strength to go against that demon.
Unless he somehow remembers how to use his other two affinities, this is a lost cause,” Blake replied calmly, his gaze never leaving the display.
“Then why don’t you just unlock his memories?
Why the hell are you still keeping him like this?” the man snapped, concern leaking into his tone.
“Are you worried?” Blake asked, tilting his head with a faint smirk.
“Over the years we have known Grey, do you think even limitations can stop him?” “That was Grey when he was still in his world.
When he was still in Arondale and had four powerful affinities,” the man muttered with a slight frown.
“And can’t you see he has grown ever since he got here?” Blake said quietly.
“His brain has become sharper.
He can escape situations even without brute strength.
Think about it.
The Grey we knew back then, wasn’t he always irrational?
So hot-headed he would charge into a situation regardless of the consequences.
But right now, what do you see him doing?” “Huh?” the man blinked before turning back to the hologram.
The direct descendants were being battered, bleeding, yet still standing as they combined their prowess against the demon.
Off to the side, the Supreme Magus stood unmoving.
His eyes were fixed on the demon, his fists tightly clenched as if he was holding himself back from entering the fight.
The display zoomed into his eyes, and that was when the man finally noticed it.
Grey wasn’t following the movement of the descendants at all.
His eyes were locked solely on the demon, analyzing, waiting… as if he was searching for something hidden beneath its every move.
Darting all around it as if he was scanning the being for something.
“Is he… is he analysing the demon?” the brown-haired man, Jim, asked quietly.
“Now you get my point,” Blake replied with a small smile as he leaned back into his seat.
“I think he is looking for an opening or a weakness in the demon.
That’s why he hasn’t jumped in yet.” Sigh!
Jim let out a tired breath as he slumped back in his chair, his eyes glued to the scene as Sera struggled up from the rubble.
Even injured, she still dashed forward to join the fight, her eyes blazing with determination.
“But still… is this all worth it?” Jim asked, voice soft.
“Huh?
What are you talking about?” Blake replied with a faintly raised brow.
“Sealing his memories.
Not letting him access his full magical potential.
The boy lost his mother the very day he was dragged into this world.
You didn’t even let him grieve properly before you wiped everything away.
Now he doesn’t even remember his last name, much less where he came from.
Is this fair?
Is it really worth it?” Jim asked, frustration and guilt mixing in his voice.
“I wonder how hard it is for you to understand me,” Blake sighed as he shook his head, eyes returning to the display.
The hologram zoomed in again on Grey.
“Don’t you remember how hot-headed and irrational this fool used to be?
Have you forgotten the rage that consumed him when he fought the assassin who killed his mother?
He destroyed a quarter of his hometown in that battle and didn’t care who got caught in it.
You really think if I hadn’t sealed his memories, he wouldn’t have gone to war against the otherworlders?
And have you also forgotten how terrifying their leader is?
Grey would’ve died before he even blinked.
So yes, I had no choice.” Sigh… Jim exhaled again, rubbing his forehead.
As much as he hated to admit it, the first mage was right.
“And about whether it was worth it,” Blake continued, a sly smirk tugging at his lips, “I’d say it was more than worth it.
Because sealing everything forced him to grow differently.
It allowed him to become the first mage in history to understand and wield Ki.
And the end of this battle against a lower echelon ten will determine just how worth it this really is.
Hopefully, if he survives this, Grey will become a true menace.
And when the time comes,” Blake muttered as a wider smile stretched across his face, his eyes locked onto the Supreme Magus on the screen.
“The name of the Supreme Magus will shake the heavens and all realms.
Trust me on that.”
