602: A Trickster Mage!

602: A Trickster Mage!

Chapter 602 “Boy?

Ha!

You call me a boy?” The demon chuckled loudly as it stared at Grey, then the next second, its expression shifted as if a switch had been flipped.

It glared at the Supreme Magus.

“Careful how you speak to me, lil one.

I have lived dozens of your lifetimes.” “And yet, you will perish at the hands of this lil one.

Isn’t that ironic?” Grey clapped back with a slight smirk.

‘No.

Something is off about Grey.’ Thalos thought as a frown crossed his face.

‘He doesn’t talk this much before a fight.

He is usually all brawn and barely any patience.

He charges in with little dialogue.

But now, he is dragging this conversation.

It is like he is stalling.

But why?’ ‘What is Grey trying to do?

I’ve never seen him talk this much.’ Finral thought, brows tightened.

‘The echelon has its focus on Grey.’ Sera thought as she snapped out of her daze from Kent’s death.

She quickly scanned the surroundings.

The weaker students were trembling in fear.

Out of the seven red band students from earlier, only six remained, including the direct descendants.

About fifteen blue bands lay unconscious or wounded at the sidelines and a dozen yellow bands were pale with fright.

‘Judging from Grey’s strength earlier, if we all fight together, destruction will ensue.

These students will be caught in the crossfire.

They are too weak and will only get in the way.

I need to get them out while the demon is distracted.’ Sera thought and quickly tugged Albed’s sleeve, signaling her silently.

Quietly and quickly, they began pulling the students one at a time, moving them away from the center.

Grey’s ears twitched, and he smirked subtly.

His hand by his side moved, a single finger drawing strange patterns in the air behind him.

‘What is he trying to do?’ Thalos thought, confused, until a faint gust of wind brushed past him.

His eyes darted around and then widened when he noticed the students being stealthily evacuated.

The emptying space around them was becoming noticeable.

If it continued too long, the demon might catch on.

‘I see…’ Thalos thought before creeping forward.

Reaching Rivock, he tugged his arm.

“What do you want?” Rivock growled quietly, frowning.

“Shut up and listen,” Thalos muttered.

“Block the demon’s view.” Then he moved to inform the other red bands.

‘Block the…’ Rivock paused, raising his head.

He saw the students being escorted out, and Grey standing perfectly aligned with the demon’s line of sight, obscuring what was happening behind him.

It clicked instantly.

Soon, everyone was in place, their bodies used as a wall to block the demon’s sight while Sera and Albed continued moving the weaker students further from the battlefield.

They could not leave the coliseum entirely or the demon would notice, so they took them to the farthest safe zone.

Grey kept talking to the demon, his tone steady, and at the same time, his finger stabbed at the air repeatedly, forming invisible symbols.

After a while, the two instructors successfully cleared most of the weaker students, until Sera stopped, her face paling.

“Oh shit, one more left,” she whispered, as she spotted Liam still frozen a few feet from the demon, unable to move.

‘The students are almost clear.

But how do we even defeat this demon?

It is stronger than the cannon fodder from earlier.

We are barely standing.

And I’m almost out of Ki.’ Rivock thought, deep frustration growing as he clenched and unclenched his fists.

“Who says you can even defeat me?!” the demon suddenly shouted as it glared at the mage in anger.

“I have killed scores of humans.

I have killed Yun warriors stronger than your puny self and you think you can defeat me?!” “Sure, sure.” Grey nodded along, still keeping his finger moving behind him.

“You have defeated Yun warriors, but have you ever defeated a warrior mage before?” he asked with a sly smirk stretching across his face.

“Gil, you are such a fool.” The demon sighed as if it wanted to facepalm.

“Why am I even engaging a weakling like you in useless conversation when I could easily wipe everybody in this coliseum in the blink o… huh?!” it muttered as it suddenly turned around.

It could still see a few students, but something was undeniably wrong.

‘I can hear fewer heartbeats than earlier.

What is going on?

Where are the remaining students?’ the demon thought with a deep frown when realization suddenly slammed into its mind.

“You…you tricked me into a silly conversation just to evacuate the others!

How dare you?!” the demon, whose name was Gil, roared in absolute rage and Grey quickly shifted in his spot.

The aura exuding from the demon became immensely violent as it hit Liam hard, causing the student to gulp loudly.

His knees buckled and sweat drenched his face like he had been standing under a waterfall.

“I will kill you all, starting with this weakling!” Gil thundered as it glared at Liam, whose heart was thumping madly in his chest.

Without hesitation, the demon blitzed forward like a blur.

“Thalos!” Grey shouted, and in a single step, the gargoyle appeared directly behind Liam, who was still on his knees in dread.

In one swift motion, Thalos grabbed Liam by the collar, lifted him clean off the ground, and threw him backward with all his strength, sending the student flying away just in time as the demon appeared in front of Thalos.

Gil’s claws came crashing forward, and at the exact moment, Thalos twisted and turned his back to it.

The claws smashed into his back with so much force the ground beneath their feet shattered apart instantly.

Thalos was lifted into the air and hurled away like a broken doll.

“How dare you all!” the demon thundered in pure rage, jerking its head up as it released a thunderous roar.

But its eyes suddenly widened in horror as multiple lights began illuminating its vision.

‘What the hell?!’ the demon thought as hundreds of lightning spears formed in the sky, hovering above it with their deadly tips aimed straight at its body.

The demon froze.

Grey stood a few distances away, smirking despite the pain.

“Kuk!” The Supreme Magus coughed out specks of blood, yet the smirk on his face never wavered.

“When the Supreme Magus speaks, just know destruction is about to ensue.” Snap!

Grey snapped his fingers loudly, and the countless lightning spears screamed down from the sky with a deafening crackle, lighting up the entire coliseum in blinding brilliance.
