709: The Druid God Stampede 709: The Druid God Stampede Only a handful of people, like Ethan, weren’t wearing any cosmetic outfits.

And those players all had terrible gear-it was obvious they couldn’t afford a cloak.

“What the hell…

With all the outfits in the cosmetic shop, you all…

you all just choose cloaks?

What’s the meaning of this?” Standing at the auction house entrance, Ethan felt a profound sense of absurdity.

“Hey…

look at that guy.

Doesn’t he look familiar?” a player suddenly said, stopping in his tracks.

His words drew the attention of others, who also halted.

“He does look familiar.

Feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before!” “The Druid God?

Yeah, that’s him!

I saw him in that video on the official site.” “Everyone, get over here!

There’s a live one!

A live Druid God!” ‘Oh, great,’ Ethan thought.

‘I’ve been recognized.

And what do you mean, ‘a live one’?’ Just as the thought crossed his mind and he prepared to make a quick exit, a crowd of multi-colored cloaks swarmed around him.

“Druid God, give me your autograph!” “Druid God, I’ve admired you for so long!

Finally, I get to see a real, living one!” “All of you, move aside!

I want to have the Druid God’s babies!” Thump, thump, thump… The moment that shout rang out, Ethan could feel the ground vibrating.

To his utter horror, a figure clad in a fiery red cloak, built like a linebacker, was barreling through the crowd.

Two indistinct masses trembled on its chest as it effortlessly shoved other players aside, sending obstacles sprawling left and right.

Its target was Ethan!

The behemoth launched itself into the air from several meters away, arms spread wide for a crushing hug.

“Holy hell, no!” Ethan instinctively sidestepped and, almost on reflex, delivered a sharp, backhanded slap.

Smack!

“Ahhh…

I love you, Druid God!

It feels so good when you hit me!” The massive figure was sent flying, arcing over the heads of the gathered players.

The sight of that active, tumbling body in the air drew even more stunned gazes.

BOOM!

When the female player hit the ground, the very pavement shook.

Beneath their hoods, every onlooker wore a synchronized wince.

“Yikes…

Hey, where’s the Druid God?” When the players shifted their focus back, they found the center of their circle empty.

Ethan was gone.

“I saw the Druid God put on a cloak and shove his way into the auction house!” “After him!

I’m getting that autograph today.

If I do, I can brag about it for a year!” “Who needs an autograph?

I’m gonna snag the Druid God’s boxers for my collection!” “Ugh, you’re disgusting.

This is the city.

You try that and the guards will throw your ass in jail!” “Who cares?

If I can get my hands on the Druid God’s personal loot, sitting in a cell for a week or two is nothing!

It’s not like my guild is good enough for the Fortress Wars anyway!” “Ugh, stop.

I’ll stick with an autograph.

Your fetish is seriously messed up.” Whoosh… The entrance to the Harmony City auction house was instantly packed solid, becoming completely impassable.

Soon, a news story from WCC Radio appeared on the official Ethereal website: [WCC Radio Report] Sightings of the ‘Druid God’ outside the All-You-Need Auction House in central Harmony City have resulted in a gathering of hundreds of thousands of players.

A subsequent stampede has caused 1,293 fatalities…

within a Safe Zone.

— Ethan hid on the auction house’s second floor, a non-public area currently accessible only to him.

Lurking in the shadows, he removed his disguise and wiped the sweat from his brow.

‘This is insane…’ He’d considered that showing himself in public might cause trouble, but he never imagined it would be on this scale.

If he hadn’t slipped away, he might genuinely have had his pants pulled off.

With that many people in the city, where combat skills were disabled but physical jostling wasn’t, he wouldn’t have stood a chance against a thousand grasping hands.

He shivered, thinking about it.

It wasn’t four hands he’d have to worry about, but four thousand.

Peeking down at the chaos below, he pulled his head back, turned on his heel, and hurried toward the back.

Little did he know that moments after he left, not four thousand, but a hundred thousand hands would converge on the location.

Players flocked there, all hoping to catch a glimpse of the living legend.

By the time the stampede made the news, Ethan was already accessing the auction house’s system interface.

To his delight, he discovered the revenue collected during this period amounted to a very healthy 12,983 gold.

“Not bad.

Finally recouping some losses,” he muttered, withdrawing all the gold immediately.

He glanced outside.

There was genuinely no way out.

“Teleportation,” he commanded.

“Location: Renegade Alliance Guild Hall.” Whoosh!

The Druid God, pursued by his fans, vanished from the auction house’s second floor.

In a flash of white light, Ethan found himself looking at his guild’s stronghold.

The area was much less crowded than the central plaza.

This time, he kept his black cloak firmly on and ducked inside-access was restricted to Renegade Alliance members only.

Inside the hall, he found it completely empty.

At this hour, everyone was probably out doing their own thing.

But even normally, it wasn’t usually this deserted unless a guild event was about to start, and members gathered to collect potions or exchange gear from the guild vault.

His first stop was the Guild Vault.

He opened the interface and checked the guild’s finances.

Gold Held: 1,203 Gold Seeing only a four-figure sum made him frown.

The guild had only this much capital after all its development?

He opened the transaction log.

Rows upon rows of income and expenditure entries filled the screen.

As he scanned them, understanding dawned.

Looked like the guild had been making some big moves the last few days.

The majority of the outgoings were for purchasing materials-herbs, ores, and the like.

Equipment was also a major drain.

While Ethan had scored a massive haul of gear from the Carnage Faction before he left, most of it was restricted to that faction’s use.

Furthermore, that particular batch of loot couldn’t be made public.

He didn’t see it in the guild vault; Celia had probably stored it elsewhere.

One benefit of the guild hall was that any items left here were safe from system decay, unless someone with the proper permissions deliberately destroyed them.

“Ethan!

You’re finally back.

You’re awfully comfortable being the absentee leader, aren’t you?” a voice called out from behind him.

“You come back and the first thing you do is check the guild vault.

Afraid I’m embezzling?” Ethan turned around, slightly embarrassed.

The voice came from the direction of the Council Hall.

Standing there was none other than Victor’s wife, Celia-his own Honorary Leader.

“Don’t tell me you’ve run out of ideas for funding,” she continued, hands on her hips.

“Because I’m fresh out.

The guild’s running at full throttle, and the coffers are bleeding dry.

It’s your turn to figure this one out.”
