Chapter 369: Are You Mad?!!!!
“Hey, Kitty… Are you sure this is the room?” Sunny asked, his voice echoing slightly in the corridor. He stood motionless, staring at the translucent glass door before him. It looked fragile, almost decorative, entirely out of place in a warship built to shatter planets.
[Yes, My King. What you seek is inside this room.]
Kitty’s voice responded, vibrating through the wall panels rather than a speaker, creating a surround-sound effect that felt almost biological.
Sunny nodded his head, his expression hardening. “Open it.”
[Yes, My King.]
CLICK!
BAM!
Sunny listened to the heavy, industrial sound of multiple high-density locks disengaging one at a time. A deep frown etched itself onto his face; he could clearly see the door was made of glass, yet the auditory feedback sounded like heavy tumblers shifting inside a bank vault.
He watched as the glass slowly slid to the side, dissolving into the wall. The air that rushed out was ancient, smelling of ozone and crushed starlight.
The room beyond was a spherical containment chamber, lined with dampeners. At the absolute center, suspended in a gravity-null field, hung a gemstone. It was a jagged, fist-sized crystal of oscillating red and black, pulsating like a dying star. Chains made from pure, condensed spirit energy—glowing white and etched with runic scripts—were hooked into the gem, anchoring it to reality.
HMMMM!!
The gemstone vibrated. It wasn’t a sound; it was a frequency that rattled the teeth in Sunny’s skull, humming like a heart in a living creature.
”Is that it?” Sunny asked, taking a tentative step forward, the hairs on his arms standing up.
{Detected a Law!!!!}
Sunny froze on track. The System window popped up in a violent shade of red he hadn’t seen before, hovering directly over the artifact. The frown on his face deepened.
[Sorry My King, I can’t enter this room. I only control the securities,]
Kitty’s voice sounded from outside the door, tinged with a digital approximation of fear.
[My programming forbids entry.]
Sunny exhaled, steeling his nerves, and walked deeper into the room. The pressure increased with every step, a physical weight pressing down on his soul.
{Warning!!!}
{Law isn’t yet altered.}
”Isn’t yet altered? What is that?” Sunny asked, his gaze fixed on the gemstone. The swirling colors inside seemed to be watching him.
{Meaning, the God this Law belongs to still resides in it… If Master absorbs the Law without destroying the soul within, Master will be corrupted and the soul will take over Master’s body.}
Sunny stopped walking, the System’s words replaying in his head. The gravity of the situation shifted instantly. This wasn’t just a battery or a weapon; it was a prison.
”You are telling me there is a God in there?!” Sunny asked in shock.
{Affirmative.}
Sunny’s shock lasted only a microsecond before his gamer instincts kicked in. A predatory light entered his eyes.
”Ok, how much Exp will I get killing a true God who has mastered a Law?” Sunny asked with a smirk.
{Come again?}
The System was stunned by the question, as if processing the sheer audacity of its host.
”You heard me.” Sunny’s smirk turned into a feral grin.
{Master will know if he kills a God.}
Sunny nodded his head, satisfied with the ambiguity, and started walking again. His aura began to flare, golden energy wrapping around his body to counter the pressure of the room.
{Umm… Master, what are you doing?}
”Of course, I am planning to kill this God. I don’t know what a Law means, but I believe with this strength, I can protect my family to the very end,” he muttered, stopping directly in front of the vibrating gemstone.
He closed his eyes for a moment. He couldn’t risk collateral damage.
”First.”
With a thought, he accessed his dimension management. In a flash of light, everyone he had stored in his “Earth World”—Alex, Casey, and the others—vanished, teleported instantly back to the safety of Eldoria.
With that taken care of, he slowly raised his hand towards the gemstone. The energy chains rattled violently.
{Master. You can die?}
The System’s voice had lost its robotic edge, sounding genuinely concerned.
”I won’t.”
{I suggest you call your family.}
Hearing the System sounding more like a human than a machine, Sunny finally paused. His hand hovered inches from the artifact. He pulled back, exhaling a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
”Fine.”
He activated the System screen and sent a call request.
DING!
Instantly, the call went through. The holographic screen expanded, filling the dark room with the vibrant colors of a garden. Josephine and Ellen appeared, sitting at a white iron table, drinking tea under the sunlight of Eldoria.
”Huh? I thought Ellen was here with us?” He asked, blinking in confusion as he remembered Ellen was among the troops he had just sent back.
”She came back with all the ships, how was it?” Josephine asked, placing her teacup down gracefully. She looked regal, but her eyes scanned his face for signs of injury. “Did the Star Nation and auction go well?”
”It’s all taken care of, but it seems someone is behind all this. Oh, the Elders of the Immortal Council are all dead.”
”What?”
Josephine and Ellen were stunned, their eyes wide in disbelief. The Immortal Council had been a constant power structure for centuries. For them to be wiped out was a geopolitical earthquake.
Sunny went ahead and explained everything—the possessed bodies, the “Heaven of Souls,” and the trap at the castle—from the start to the end.
Josephine listened intently, her knuckles whitening as she gripped the table.
”So… You want to venture into a place you know nothing about, and you might not return?” Josephine asked, a deep frown marring her beauty.
”Um… You don’t have to put it like that,” Sunny said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “It’s just a tactical risk.”
”ARE YOU MAD?!!!!!!”
Josephine’s voice resounded all over the room, amplified by the ship’s acoustics. The sheer volume froze Sunny in place. Even the System and Kitty remained dead silent, terrified of the enraged Queen.
{…..}
[…..]
”…..?!!!”
Sunny rubbed his ears, wincing. “I can hear you without you screaming,” he said, trying to regain some dignity.
”Me screaming?!! You dare say that?!! Do you know how dangerous what you’re doing is?!!! What if you–” Josephine paused, taking a ragged breath, forcing herself to calm down. Her anger was just fear wearing a mask.
”Calm down, Love… This isn’t the first time I have done something dangerous, and I will make sure to return alive, I promise.”
Josephine stared at him for a long moment. The silence stretched, heavy with unsaid fears.
”It is ok, Mum.”
Ellen’s small voice finally shattered the silence. She reached out and placed her hand over Josephine’s.
”I believe that Dad will come back to us, stronger than ever… You can go ahead, Dad. We will be waiting for your return,” she said with a smile that was identical to Sunny’s—confident and fearless.
”Thank you, Cupcake.” Sunny smiled brightly, his heart feeling lighter. He turned to Josephine, who folded her arms on her chest, her posture rigid.
”Fine, come back alive! Not a single scratch!” She said, her voice stern, trying to hide her concern but failing miserably.
Sunny smiled lovingly at the two women who anchored him to reality. He nodded his head.
”Yes. Oh… I need your help with something.”
Sunny said, and quickly explained the plan regarding the Star Nation’s administration and the troop movements to the two, who nodded their heads in understanding.
”We will get it done before you return,” Josephine stated, slipping back into her role as a ruler.
”I know you will… And please, don’t mind Jinx. I will be back.”
Before Josephine could ask what he meant by that cryptic warning, Sunny disconnected the call.
The screen vanished, leaving him alone in the dark room with the humming red stone.
”It’ll be funny seeing her face when Jinx calls her Mum. Hahaha.” He laughed, the sound bouncing off the cold walls.
Then, the laughter died. Sunny turned back to the gemstone. The playfulness vanished from his face, replaced by the cold, hard stare of a King.
”Now. Let’s get to work.”
