Infinite wealth In A New World - Chapter 328
Chapter 328: Surprise
”Hey… You must be, Alex… I heard a lot about you.”
The voice was surprisingly innocent, cutting through the tense silence of the arena. Sunny turned to face the speaker: a small girl, looking no older than fifteen, dressed in elaborate, ancient Chinese attire. She tilted her head, a smile playing on her lips, her hands politely clasped behind her back.
’Another one?’ Sunny sighed inwardly. The competition was already exhausting.
He adopted a facade of weary confusion. “Why are there so many kids here? Can’t your parents hold onto you guys?” he asked, his tone deliberately dismissive.
The little girl’s smile brightened, a strangely genuine reaction. “It’s so good someone cares about me. No one in the human Kingdom has ever cared, not even once,” she said, her large eyes filled with a manufactured sadness.
’Human kingdom?’ Sunny frowned, immediately engaging his system. He ran a quick profile check and the resulting stat block stunned him.
’A Second Order powerhouse, and the Third Pillar of the Wendigos? How could a Wendigo have such a deceptively cute face?’
Seeing Sunny’s silence, Faye continued, her innocent façade cracking with a hint of predatory pride. “Oh, maybe you’re nice because you don’t know me. I am Faye, and the third Pillar under the Wendigos’ Kingdom. I am here for that.” She pointed a small, graceful finger at the crown.
”Oh. Okay.” Sunny nodded flatly, turning back to the crown, seemingly losing interest.
”Why are you even here? Why does the Wendigos’ Kingdom need a human crown? Aren’t you guys full eating us?” he asked, looking at her over his shoulder, his expression flat, injecting a brutal dose of reality into the conversation.
”Fufufu…” Faye giggled, but the sound was sharp. “The other Wendigos eat you guys. I and others are the new generation of Wendigos. We are Humans, but our blood is Wendigos—”
”Cut the crap, you’re just an experiment. I know.” Sunny looked up at the sky. His system’s deep knowledge base provided the perfect counter-narrative:
“You’re a kid who got kidnapped by the Wendigos and later experimented on, making you half-Wendigo.” He exhaled, letting the words hang in the air. “Don’t think I don’t know.”
“….?!”
Faye’s cheerful façade completely shattered. Her eyes widened, losing their calculated charm. “How… How do you know all that?” she stammered. Only the absolute highest ranks of her kingdom knew the truth of her origin.
”How I know doesn’t matter,” Sunny said, walking away. “Anyway, we’re here for the crown, not to make friends. Good luck.” He left a genuinely stunned Faye behind.
’Who really are you, Alex?’ she thought, staring at his retreating back, the earlier arrogance replaced by wary curiosity.
Sunny maintained his pace. ‘Asking her about Olivia will only raise more suspicion. Besides, I don’t want to make friends with anyone related to the Wendigos.’ He scanned the audience. The lack of the Wendigo King and the Elven Royal Family was conspicuous.
‘It is really strange. They only send their representatives. They must be waiting for a specific outcome.’

”Hello, everyone!”
A clear, authoritative voice cut through the arena’s tension, drawing every gaze upward. Hovering above the Colosseum were five figures in pristine white ceremonial outfits—the Elders presiding over the contest.
The lady leading them, an imposing figure of serene power, moved her gaze across the fifty contestants, pausing momentarily on Perran before settling on Sunny.
”I am Elder Nicolette. I will start from the beginning for those of you who do not know the procedures here,” she began, her tone carrying weight.
”There is a standard rule placed on the Upper World: If a King fails to provide an heir before his death—be it mysterious or natural—a successor competition must be held. Due to some unique situations, this competition was fast-tracked. So here we are.”
She then delivered the rules, which defined the lethal dynamics of the match:
“Once you take the crown, you must defend it to the very end. The match concludes when only one person remains.”
“You are not allowed to directly attack anyone else who is not currently holding the crown!” She fixed her eyes pointedly on Perran. “If you do, you will be punished, and automatically disqualified. Note: This rule does not apply to the one with the crown. He or she is allowed to attack anyone or use anything at their disposal.”
”Good luck, and see you in the next life.”
With that chilling farewell, the five Elders swiftly descended to their designated platform high above, taking their seats to watch the carnage.
_
”3!!”
A massive, ethereal flaming numeral appeared high above the Colosseum, starting the countdown.
”2.”
Sunny glanced at Faye, who was now yawning again, seemingly bored and unconcerned with the timer. He checked Perran and Matilda; they were both still, planning to act only after the initial bloodbath. However, the three cowled figures behind Matilda were tense.
’If it were the past, I would have rushed forward to kill these people and gain EXP… But now, no matter how many I kill, it’ll be useless without the Primordial Stone.’ Sunny thought to himself.
‘I will just sit out of this initial rush and observe.’ He watched Qin Wei, recognizing the fierce ambition in her stance, the moon blade in hand.
The moment the timer hit zero, a cacophony of speed skills burst forth from almost half the contestants. They lunged towards the pillar at once, a concentrated wave of power seeking the Throne.
BOOOOOM!!!!
An explosion of kinetic energy sounded from the crown’s location. The shockwave was immense, throwing most of the rushing contestants backward. Some smashed into the ground; others managed to slide to a halt or skillfully arrested their fall with God Rank weapons. The strong ones simply braced and stood firm.
Sunny blinked, watching the smoke clear. Standing where the pillar once was, was a figure in brilliant green, intricately woven armor—an Elf—who held the crown in one hand and a long, wicked green scythe in the other. A smirk played on her lips as she placed the crown securely on her head.
”A Sixth Order?!”
The shock rippled through the remaining crowd. Only five Sixth Orders were confirmed to be present, the rest being Fifth Order and below.
”You want the crown?!” the Elf roared, spinning her scythe high above her head. “You’ll have to take off my head then!”
Instantly, thick, living tree veins—massive, reinforced roots—burst violently from the Colosseum ground. They shot out with terrifying speed, lashing out at every single person in the arena, including Sunny.
’What the hell?!’ Sunny thought, stunned.
‘The first person to grab the crown is immediately going all out for a complete wipeout!’
