Chapter 326: Day of the Competition
The Human Capital, a bastion of obsidian towers and ancient, defiant walls, thrummed with a nervous energy. Every road leading to the city gates had disgorged its cargo of contestants—the powerful, the desperate, and the politically motivated. All races, all species, united by the single, brutal objective of the Throne Succession Competition.

The legendary families—the Qin, the Blade, and the Xin—arrived with grand, intimidating entourages, their banners snapping like challenges in the crisp air. Yet, they were merely the familiar threats. The true unease stemmed from the influx of powerful, unknown figures, their origins cloaked in shadow, and the open presence of the upper World’s worst enemies: the Wendigos and the Elves. The old rule of engagement was a thin, threadbare truce, and for the human populace, the simple, desperate prayer echoed in every heart:

‘A Human must win.’

At the towering main gate, the group from the Rising Star Mercenaries rode in. Sunny led the line, his gaze sharp and calculating. Flanking him were Josephine, Morgana, Precious, Ethan, Elara, Brite, and Thomas.

Sunny’s eyes swept over the crowded street, the sight of his own guild’s Mercenaries—now scattered amongst the common folk, laughing and gossiping—a comfort. They were his eyes and ears, gathering the crucial intel he needed. His own progress had been slow, the Primordial Stone’s restrictions demanding patience. He had spent the preceding days in brutal physical training and deep dives into the system store’s skills, punctuating the rigor with moments of treasured intimacy with his wife.

His focus, however, kept returning to Josephine. She had finally realized her situation two days prior. Thanks to Morgana’s persistent, almost maternal care, the obvious was finally undeniable: she was pregnant. Sunny had known almost from the beginning—but he maintained a gentle silence, waiting for the moment she chose to share.

But the sheer scope of the system’s revelation still unsettled him. The upgrade hadn’t just quantified his strength; it had unveiled Josephine’s true lineage, a truth so stunning it felt like a cosmic joke: she was the reincarnation of two Goddesses.

His eyes flicked to the new line in her status: Bloodline: Lunar Moon (Goddess Artemis) and Bloodline: Metal Goddess (Goddess Gaia).

Goddess Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the moon, granted her the Lunar Moon Bloodline—control over weaker creatures and exponentially increased strength under a full moon. Goddess Gaia, the primordial Earth Mother, manifested as the Metal Goddess Bloodline—the power to command the earth and all metals, even the trace amounts within a living creature’s blood and bone.

As a werewolf wielding the power of two distinct divine beings, Josephine was a cosmic anomaly, a potential world-breaker.

Sunny looked back at her, a profound mix of awe and protective fear in his eyes.

”A monster, but my monster,” he thought, the possessiveness fierce.

The three Fairies used the mysterious egg to stabilize the volatile mix, forging the two disparate bloodlines into a single, unified power source. The result: a body capable of birthing three heavens.

‘If it weren’t for the unpredictable and leveling power of my system.’ He mused:

‘I would be utterly eclipsed by her strength.’

He shifted his gaze to Morgana, riding serenely beside Josephine. The witch’s features were calm, but there was a guardedness in her eyes.

‘I have a feeling she doesn’t know everything either…’

He settled his thoughts, the father’s instinct hardening into resolve. ‘If my kids are so powerful, won’t they be able to protect their mother?’ A deep breath.

‘It’s still good to be cautious. The world is rarely fair to the gifted.’

The group came to a halt before the main arena, a gigantic Colosseum constructed from an unfamiliar, deep-black obsidian metal.

A helmeted guard stepped forward, offering a bow that was less respect for rank and more a desperate measure of self-preservation. “Are you here to partake or as an audience?” His voice shook slightly; he was facing a party that included a Sixth Order, a Fifth, two Fourth, and three Third Order powerhouses.

”Both,” Sunny replied simply.

Elara, ever the pragmatic Guild Master, brought out a finely embossed scroll. She tossed it to the guard, who fumbled to catch it. His eyes widened, his gauntlet shaking as he read the royal seal and the powerful names listed.

”You… You may pass! My deepest apologies, sirs and madams!” He dipped into an even deeper, desperate bow.

Elara smirked, a sliver of genuine pleasure lighting up her typically serious face.

“That’s the power of the Rising Star,” she whispered to Thomas, feeling the satisfaction of their guild’s hard-won reputation. In the Capital, they were not just a presence; they were a force.

As the group strode through the massive gate, the ten guards sagged in relief.

”My goodness, such pressure,” the lead guard muttered, wiping sweat from his brow. “This competition is going to be hell.”

”That Sixth Order guy,” another whispered, his eyes on Sunny’s retreating back. “He must be the one representing the Rising Star. They didn’t just get powerful; they got terrifying.”

A distance away, shielded by a merchant stall, Qin Li blinked in surprise. He saw Sunny and his group vanish into the Colosseum.

”Hey!” he nudged his sister, Qin Wei, pointing. “I just saw Mr. Alex enter. Why don’t we go and greet them?”

Qin Wei’s eyes, usually warm for her brother, became instantly cold and focused. She lowered her voice, pulling him closer.

”Don’t forget this. Though we are friends with them, we are all going after the throne. We are a family, and we must be unified in our goal,” she said, her sisterly tone replaced by that of a focused heir. She glanced nervously around, her gaze lingering on the cloaked figures.

”I got news. Two people will be arriving soon, and they have no allegiance. One is the rumored Child of Destruction—a terrifying factor. The other is an unknown, equally dangerous power.” She fixed her intense gaze on her younger brother, not as a sibling, but as a superior. “For now, we communicate with no one. We observe, and we wait. Is that understood?”

Qin Li, usually confident and jovial, felt a sudden chill from his sister’s intensity. He saw the genuine fear and focus in her eyes—a new, frightening layer to her character. He quickly nodded, swallowing his pride.

”Yes! I understand, Wei!”

He didn’t understand the depth of her political machinations or the intelligence she had gathered, but he understood the shift in her demeanor. The competition had already begun, and for the powerful, it started not with a clash of weapons, but with the cold, hard withdrawal of trust.
