Chapter 322: Unexpected Ally
Perran blinked, his golden eyes narrowed as he regarded the green-haired woman standing silently before him.

”Why are you here?” he demanded, his frown deepening.

Olivia, the formidable first pillar of the Wendigos, executed a light, formal bow. “My Lord, you have a guest. She is waiting in the throne hall.” Despite her terrifying strength and rank beneath the King, she maintained perfect deference to this disconcertingly powerful ten-year-old.

Perran raised an eyebrow. ‘She was serious. Mother moved faster than usual.’ He had anticipated the aid, but not the immediacy.

”Let’s go.”

He swept out of the room and headed for the ornate, winding stairway, setting a fast, deliberate pace. Olivia followed several feet behind, maintaining the respectful distance demanded by his immense power and arrogant temperament.

”What is her name?” Perran asked, without slowing.

”We don’t dare to ask, My Lord,” Olivia replied, her head remaining bowed.

”Useless,” Perran spat out, accelerating down the hall.

___

[Throne Hall.]

”You got to be kidding me.” Perran exclaimed, halting at the entrance.

Standing in the vast hall was a strikingly beautiful woman. She was an embodiment of nature and sensuality: long, vibrant green hair flowed down her back, and green leaves strategically covered her private parts and parts of her smooth, purple skin. Her face was dominated by a bright, warm smile and piercing, luminous red eyes. She looked almost identical to the ancient Tree-Tribe entity Sunny had encountered in the Mythic Realm.

”Aril Lilith,” Perran muttered the name, recognizing her as a high-ranking hybrid, placed in the upper world, and one of his mother’s most trusted slave. He walked directly toward the woman assigned to him by Lilith.

”My Prince… Mother asked me to help you,” Aril said, her smile unwavering. She glanced briefly at the silent, stone-faced Wendigos King and the four pillars of the hall.

”It seems Shadow is back to Mother’s side,” she murmured, a trace of professional rivalry in her voice.

”That isn’t my business,” Perran said coldly. His emotionless tone instantly drew Aril’s attention back to him.

”Let’s get things in order,” Perran continued, closing the distance between them. “You are here only as an onlooker. You are not allowed to interfere or help. All you have to do is stand back and watch.”

”But…”

”I know,” Perran cut her off, his piercing red gaze locking onto hers. “You are sent to protect me. But do I look like someone a Fifth Order being can protect? You will only be a burden, a bundle of worry that restricts my movements. So… for now, just stand by and watch everything. Do you understand?”

Aril’s bright red eyes narrowed. Lilith was her goddess; she had been thrilled to receive this high-stakes mission. But she hadn’t anticipated being relegated to glorified babysitter for this arrogant, emotionless child. She swallowed her pride. Her job was to watch and protect. If he ordered her to stand down for now, she could feign compliance.

”Very well, My Prince.” She gave a small, graceful bow.

Perran’s eyes shrunk to the size of needles, scrutinizing Aril for a moment. After a few tense seconds, he turned to the Wendigos King.

”How many days left?”

”Five days, My Lord,” Gerrard quickly replied, his tone subservient and strained.

”Good… I will be in my room until then.” Perran announced.

Before he could take a step, a new voice, laced with disdain and aggression, cut through the hall’s oppressive silence.

”Going so soon?”

“…?!!”

Everyone in the hall turned toward the entrance. Walking toward them was a bulky, red-furred humanoid cat with huge, demonic wings—a powerful beast-hybrid. In his grasp were two limp, lifeless bodies of Wendigo soldiers, their necks visibly broken.

Following him was a stunning vampire, with flowing red hair and crimson eyes. Beside her marched three tall males, all cloaked in black mage robes that completely concealed their expressions.

”A late Fourth Order cat, and a Fifth Order vampire,” Aril sneered, her voice dropping to a low, cold assessment, entirely unimpressed by the intimidating lineup. “While the three behind are all Fourth Order powerhouses. An impressive, if ultimately negligible, lineup.”

Vinous tossed the two lifeless Wendigos onto the stone floor with a dull thud. His gaze fixed on the group, and he asked coldly:

“Where is the Ruler here?”

”Oh… You are so arrogant,” Perran responded, a flash of pure boredom in his eyes. He snapped his fingers.

An invisible, unknown amount of Ninth Order pressure instantly descended, locking the entire invading group in place. Vinous, the vampire, and the three, froze mid-step, their expressions morphing from aggression to terror.

”This… This?! A… a Ninth Order powerhouse?” Vinous choked out, stunned that such an insurmountable power existed in this territory.

”Useless,” Perran dismissed them, preparing to obliterate them with a simple thought.

But before he could act, a voice, smooth as silk and resonant with ancient power, flowed in from the doorway, causing him to pause instantly.

”Long time no see, Perran.”

The pressure holding the five invaders vanished. Matilda, the Blood Queen, entered the hall. Her long, black velvet dress swept the floor, her presence commanding absolute attention, instantly silencing the room. All eyes—Wendigo, Demon, and Invader—watched in awe and confusion as she walked straight past the stunned Vinous, stopped in front of Perran, and slowly crouched down to his level.

”Do you remember me?” she asked, her voice soft, entirely focused on the child.

”Matilda?” Perran muttered, a flicker of genuine, unfeigned surprise in his eyes.

Matilda was a legend from his past. When he had been young, grievously injured, his powers drained, and hunted by legions of enemies, it was Matilda who had rescued him, fought off his pursuers, and personally cared for him during his time of weakness.

”I thought you died in the lower world?” he asked with a frown, a genuine concern for her safety bleeding into his cold demeanor.

”My Love couldn’t live without me,” Matilda stood upright, her powerful aura fully returning. She glanced over her shoulder at the two dead Wendigos.

”Hope this isn’t a problem? They stopped us at the entrance.” she asked, looking at Perran with the side of her eyes, a faint, predatory smirk playing on her lips.

”Not at all… Come on, tell me why you’re here.”

Perran’s immediate dismissal of the murder of the Wendigos soldiers caused King Gerrard to grimace. His people were dead, but he was powerless before a Ninth Order, and sixth order beings, one of whom was his supposed Lord. He could only sit still and watch as Perran and Matilda walked away, leaving the frozen parties alone in the silent, tense throne hall.
