- Chapter 524 - 524 Blood Is The Way
524: Blood Is The Way 524: Blood Is The Way “Heh, let this great one explain to the ignorant pup,” Idle arrogantly turned her nose up, puffing out her large chest.
Cassius rolled his eyes, but still stayed quiet and let her do her thing.
“Ahem, so basically, every Attribute after reaching certain milestones will experience Awakenings.
The first of these Awakenings happens after hitting 100 points for an Attribute,” Idle explained.
“After Awakening with an Attribute, that Attribute will receive a major boost in value, as seen with what happened with your Spirit Attribute.
However, that is not the highlight of an Awakening.
No, what makes Attribute Awakenings so very good is as you guessed it: the Quality that gets attached to the Attribute!” “For you, the Attribute Quality you awakened with for Spirit is the Asura Attribute!” Cassius furrowed his sword-like brows in thought, his handsome features contorting in confusion.
“I understand what you’re talking about now, but I still don’t know what the Asura Quality even is or how to utilize it.” “Well, neither do I!” Idle beamed.
“…” “Hey!
Stop staring at me with that disdainful gaze, okay?
There’s no possible way for me to know something that must be figured out by you and you alone,” Idle said with a knowing tone.
“But if you’d like a hint on how to begin exploring the functions of your Spirit Quality, try honing in on whatever stands out the most to you in your core being.
There’s something like a powerful mass of blood, right?
Start there.” Cassius blinked before giving it a shot.
However, after a minute or two of getting nowhere with his investigation, he frowned.
That mass of blood inside him seemed so close, yet every time he attempted to connect with it, it would move exponentially further away.
And then, the very second he lost focus, the blood mass would return to its original distance from himself.
If Cassius didn’t know any better, he’d think this thing inside of him was playing tricks.
“Just keep at it!” Idle encouraged, horribly failing to disguise the glee she felt over seeing him struggle so much.
“With time, you’re sure to completely discover the utilization of your Spirit Attribute.
After all, it is your unique Quality!” Cassius’s frown deepened.
Now that he was actively sensing within his body for that mass of blood, he started to sense a deep familiarity with whatever the thing was.
He also knew without a doubt that the moment he grasped the mass of blood, obtaining his freedom from this prison would be all but guaranteed.
So Cassius kept at it.
Between the Leviathan’s snoring intervals, he would actively perform an activity akin to meditation.
Each time he did this, he’d internally reach for that mass of blood.
And though it didn’t seem like he was progressing at all as the distance between them just continued resetting, he felt like he was on the precipice of uncovering something.
It was only after nearly half a day passed inside Alcatraz that Cassius finally gained something from all his arduous effort.
“A connection!” He exclaimed.
That’s right!
It may have taken a while, but he finally did it!
He successfully reached out and touched the mass of blood, even if his imaginary fingers merely brushed up against the construct.
However, that brief moment of contact was more than enough for the connection to solidify.
And from this connection, Cassius learned a great many things.
First of all, this seven-by-seven-meter wide mass of blood was not a mass of blood at all.
It was instead a variation of what cultivators called the “Spiritual Sea”: An internal space filled with the essence of a cultivator; namely, their Spiritual Energy.
For obvious reasons, though, it was dubbed the “Blood Sea”-and instead of regular Spiritual Energy, his Sea was filled with something a bit more… special.
“Should I call this red energy Asura Energy?” This was where the Quality aspect of his Spirit Attribute came in, for ‘Asura’ was likely more special than your typical Quality and did what most Qualities could not by changing the color of the Spiritual Sea as well as its properties.
“Every droplet of my Asura Energy is worth over ten droplets of a normal Spiritually Awakened Cultivator’s Energy,” Cassius stated, gleaming this information from the Awakening itself.
Just this benefit alone made the Asura Quality a godly cheat.
But add that onto the lethal capabilities of the Quality and something truly overpowered was born.
“With me being only at the 1st Awakening of my Spirit Attribute, the attack capabilities of the attached Quality naturally aren’t very much.
However, it should still prove quite useful in getting out of here.” For starters, using his own blood, he could manipulate it and form things like blades or objects.
He could also tap into the blood supply of other living beings, controlling every ounce of blood in their bodies under the right conditions.
And last but not least, he could convert the blood of fallen foes into his Asura Energy, thus increasing his Spirit Attribute.
This, along with potential Spirit cultivation methods, would surely provide a continuous supply of the Spirit stat even after he eventually left the influence of the Leviathan.
“On a side note, give it a few more hours and I should cross the 1000 point threshold for Spirit.” He knew nothing similar to what just happened when he reached 100 Spirit would occur in the near future.
However, just seeing another zero behind his Spirit Attribute would make him sufficiently happy.
Furthermore, with every one hundred points of Spirit added, Cassius’s Blood Sea would expand by another meter.
This, in turn, increased his Asura Energy capacity.
“It’s just too bad I can’t do much with any of that right now…” Cassius sighed, yanking at the tight chains that bound him.
With his other three Attributes having no way to be improved at present, he could only rely on Spirit.
But at the same time, Spirit for him was limited to superficial improvements; he had no way to utilize his Asura Energy while chained after all.
“If only I could figure out how to cut myself,” he sighed, speaking like a mentally unstable maniac.
“Wait… What if I just bite down on my gums to draw blood…?” Suddenly realizing something huge, Cassius tore through his inner-mouth’s flesh, blood now leaking from his mouth.
He then willed his Asura Quality to mold the trace amounts of blood into a tiny blade.
Although the blood blade was barely a few centimeters in length, it was more than large enough to cut his body, making it easier to draw greater and greater amounts of blood for his personal use.
This was the way!
This was the start of his Grand Escape from Alcatraz!
