- Chapter 522 - 522 Attribute Collector, A Fellow Prisoner
522: Attribute Collector, A Fellow Prisoner 522: Attribute Collector, A Fellow Prisoner [Attribute Collector: A Cheat-like Talent that allows the User to extract and absorb objects called ‘Attribute Orbs’ from any living thing.
There are several different types of Attribute Orbs that can be dropped, including Vigor, Physique, Spirit, and Affinity.] Reading the description for his newly acquired Bound-Talent, Cassius almost couldn’t believe his eyes.
This was, without a doubt, the same kind of Attribute Collecting Ability that he remembered from novels in his past life!
Just as his excitement level reached all-time highs, the Bound-Talent wasted no time in showing off what it was capable of.
[Spirit +0.05] Falling from the sky was a light blue Attribute Orb with these exact words written on it.
As soon as Cassius noticed it, he willed it toward himself, causing it to change trajectory mid-flight.
This, in turn, produced a magical reaction from inside him as the Orb shot straight at him and infused his existence with an extremely abstract concept.
[Absorbed Spirit Attribute Orb * Spirit increased by 0.05] “So this is Spirit…” Cassius didn’t realize what it was when it was just a number on a stat sheet, but now that he felt an improvement of this quality in real time, he gained a far better understanding of what it was.
“Mana.” Or, in this world, it should be named something like “Qi” or “Spiritual Energy”.
But no matter what it was called, Cassius now had a way to amass more of it.
DING!
DING!
DING!
The sound of Attribute Orbs forming sounded from higher up in the Alcatraz abyss.
Not even a moment later, more Attribute Orbs of the Spirit type descended from the endless darkness above, falling just close enough to where Cassius was locked up that his [Attribute Collector] Talent could suck them in.
[Absorbed Spirit Attribute Orb * Spirit increased by 0.13] [Absorbed Spirit Attribute Orb * Spirit increased by 0.07] [Absorbed Spirit Attribute Orb * Spirit increased by 0.21] [Absorbed…] Cassius wasn’t sure why what was happening was happening, but for some odd reason, Spirit Attribute Orbs were raining down on him.
At first there were only a few, but within seconds, that number exponentially multiplied until eventually settling down at a constant drizzle.
However, that constant drizzle ended up amounting to hundreds of Spirit-type Attribute Orbs being absorbed every minute.
This was another odd, inexplicable thing, for the only attribute Orbs that fell from the sky were of the… Spirit variety.
“I wonder what’s going on up there for this phenomenon to occur,” Cassius curiously wondered as he happily benefited, his Spirit Attribute leaving his other Attributes in the dust as it skyrocketed.
Unfortunately, just as he started thinking that Spirit Orbs would continue falling indefinitely, the constant amount being drizzled gradually diminished€“until eventually, not a single Spirit Orb could be glimpsed in the darkness.
“Huh…?” This happened right as Cassius’s Spirit stat was going to surpass 10 points.
He frowned, looking to the illusory beauty lounging on his shoulder for answers.
“Hey, why are you looking at me like that?
No, don’t tell me…” Idle gasped, defensively hugging her breasts.
“You savage beast!
I know you’ve been without a woman in a while, but I’m not your rebound!
You can’t just use and abuse me as you please whenever you please-…” “Ha, this is a relief,” Cassius suddenly said.
“Huh?
What do you mean by that??” “Well, it’s just that you were being a little too useful as of late.
But just now, you eased my worries.
You’re still the same Idle I’ve always known, as useless as ever.” Idle’s cheeks inflated as she crossed her sensual legs.
“Humph!
And here I was going to tell you that whatever was dropping those Spirit Orbs is likely going to do so again.
But no, since I’m sooo useless, now I’m not going to tell you anything!” “…” “I’m sorry…” Cassius’s voice came out as barely a whisper.
“Huh?
What was that you said??
Maybe I’m a bit hard on hearing because of how useless I am!” Idle was not going to give in so easily.
She wanted him to regret ever underestimating her!
“I said I’m sorry, okay.
Can you just tell me why those Spirit Orbs were raining from above and how to get them to do so again??” Cassius spoke loud and clear, concealing a small tongue click.
“I’m not hearing the magic word!” Cassius thought deeply before saying, “Fuck you?” “No, stupid Host!” Idle snapped.
“Fine, whatever.
I’ve decided since the moment I was rebooted and improved that I’d start being nicer to you.
We did defy the abysmally small odds and survive the forced ascension process after all.
Which, by the way, exceeded even my expectations!
I genuinely thought we were both going to perish and never be seen again€“a result that would’ve aligned with the future I predicted for you back in the Ascension Tower.” Being reminded of the Ascension Tower, Cassius had images of over a dozen stunningly beautiful women flash through his mind.
He smiled before he recalled how powerless he was in the face of that god-like cultivator, causing him to ball up his fists until the whites began to show.
“Hey, don’t get all gloomy on me now,” Idle reprimanded, softly kicking him in the side of the head.
“You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get your revenge later.
For now, listen to what I’m saying as I was just about to tell you how my kindness truly knows no bounds and that I’m going to be nice enough to inform you that the cause of that Spirit Orb rainfall can likely be attributed to the presence of… another prisoner.” Another Prisoner??
Was she trying to tell him that there were people other than him down here!?
“I know what you’re thinking and no, it’s no person that’s trapped in this prison with you.” Idle dramatically paused before her expression hardened as she said, “It’s a Leviathan.” A Leviathan!?
“You mean like the ones I encountered in the Ascension Tower??” Cassius asked, recalling there being a race like that on one of the Tower’s many floors.
Shaking her head, Idle replied, “No, whatever this thing is, it’s nowhere near the same as the entities you met in the Ascension Tower.
This one is the real deal, and from how the Moon Sect Elders were describing it on our way down, this behemoth has apparently been trapped down here for tens of thousands of years, surviving all this time with just its unimaginably massive amount of vitality.” “Also, at the time, I was able to feel an immense amount of fear coming from the Moon God Sect Elders when we first entered the Leviathan’s sphere of influence.
And this fear, it was not acquired… It was instinctual,” Idle added.
“You’re saying…” Before Cassius could finish uttering his guess, Idle said, “Yes, it’s very possible this creature once hunted the Ancestors of the Moon God people like prey.” “And now this same predator is deep in slumber, its occasional snores being the action that’s causing Spirit Orbs to drop.” Cassius froze.
“Its… snores…?”
