Chapter 473: A Minor Deal for Improvement?
His… Talents? A way to increase his talents? Was that even possible…? He had heard people being able to remove the impurities within their Mana Shell and boost their existing abilities by double, usually through surgery. But he had also learnt that those same people died not too long afterwards.

The act of interacting with the physical state of someone’s Mana Core was taboo, even if it was for a good cause, for just even the slightest mishap could cause them to be crippled or lead to their death.

That was why some would only rely on the Jester to assist them with improving their talents.

…

She… She wasn’t thinking of opening him up now, did she?!

Although he had seen the things she had done and was grateful for her assistance when he was about to die, he couldn’t allow the lady to open him up like a cardboard box and let her fiddle around with his Mana Core as if it were a snow globe!

Ignoring the pain from his sore muscles, Emilio sat instantly up; his eyes wide as he stared at the girl, who seemed to look back with a hint of amusement in her eyes.

Could it be she was just playing around with him? Did she figure out his poor talents and was now mocking him through this sick joke?

Even if his heart did feel something for the girl, he couldn’t tolerate such behaviour!

He opened his mouth, intending to speak out against the white-haired girl’s claims about improving his talents, but was then met with—

SPLASH!

—A faceful of drinkable water.

Emilio gulped down the water on instinct before flinching back and turning away. He wiped his face vigorously, having already forgotten about the soreness in his arms.

“H-hey! What was that for!?”

“Hm~? You looked thirsty.” Lillian tilted her head, still holding her amused smile as she continued to remain crouched beside the young man, “And I also needed a way to jolt you out from those thoughts of yours.”

Thoughts? Could it be that she had the ability to read his thoughts?!

Lillian continued to enjoy the panicked and shocked look on Emilio’s face as she swiped her finger and wiped his body clean of water and sweat. She then pulled out five identical-looking light blue pills in between her fingers.

Emilio raised an eyebrow as he saw this. While he had seen pills with the same colour as them, he felt as though these ones were far different and magical compared to the ones he was thinking of.

“What are those, miss Lillian…?”

“These? These are the solution to your problem, my friend.” Lillian smirked and waved them in front of his face, instantly causing his eyes to follow them like he was mind-controlled.

“The solution to my… Problem?”

“Uh, huh. Gulp one of these down, and your mana would feel much more refined. Even your affinity would further increase!”

“My… Affinity?”

Emilio watched as Lillian flicked the pills into the air with the back of her thumb, akin to someone flipping a coin before swiftly catching them with ease.

Was Lillian truly speaking the truth? Could these pills actually help him with his issue? He hadn’t ever heard of a mystical drug that could purify a person’s impurities, regardless of the level of their world’s current technology.

‘Wait… I had heard that the humans who lived on Hearth were able produced mystical drugs capable of removing a person’s impurities!’

They were known as Affinity Pills. Was that what Lillian had in her hands? How did she get her hands on them!? From what he knew, these pills were highly sought after and were rare to ever be seen.

In fact, nowhere in the public market or black market had such an item!

Emilio slowly held his hand out to the magical pills in Lillian’s grasp before watching as they were slowly brought away from him. He stiffened at the sound of Lillian’s chuckle.

If they truly were Affinity Pills, he needed to get his hands on them! On all five of them!

“I won’t ask where you got them from, but please… What do you want for them? Name your price and I have it!”

Bearing the name of a prestigious noble Family, Nightraven, one could say that he was filthy rich, to the point where even one-third of his current wealth could last a low-income family with three children for several years and pay for their tuition.

He was, without a doubt, not short on cash.

But would someone like Lillian really accept this?

He watched as Lillian’s lips curled into a sly smile as she tilted her head.

Emilio assumed this head gesture of hers as a way to make fun of him. After all, what good was material wealth inside a Trial if she wouldn’t be able to use it if they didn’t escape?

Coming to this dreaded conclusion, Emilio’s eyes turned teary and his lips trembled, causing his face to become extremely adorable without him knowing; something he was rather known for in the family.

This face of his seemed to unknowingly inflict quite the damage onto Lillian as she flinched at the sight of him. He watched as the corners of her lips twitched wryly.

Lillian, shaking her head with a slight smile, patted his shoulder with her free hand before muttering:

“You want to hear the price? Sure. In exchange for these pills, I won’t ask for much. I just want your unquestioning trust and loyalty, as well as another thing, which I will ask later from you.”

Emilio froze at the request.

Was this really all she wanted? Just his trust and loyalty? For such a precious and highly sought-after item, wasn’t she asking for too little? He knew some would ask for 100 thousand semis for even one of these!

…

Maybe.

He wasn’t ever good at pricing things.

‘But what is that other thing…?’ Emilio wanted to ask her about it, but he felt that if he asked or said anything more, then this deal might increase further in price!

“Just my trust and loyalty…? Well… You already got them with how capable you’ve proven yourself, but very well, miss Lillian. I shall follow you whole-heartedly!”

Lillian stared into Emilio’s eyes, which seemed to glitter at her; the way he smiled as well caused her eyes to squint at how bright it was. Was it just her, or did he look a bit… Too feminine…?

Deciding it wasn’t worth thinking about it, Lillian passed over the pills and instructed him on how to take them. It wasn’t that different from taking any other pill, with the sole exception that these quite literally melt in your mouth.

After giving them over and leaving Jon in charge of looking over his body, Lillian threw a glance over to the Jungle Lord and the Captain’s battle. They seemed to be still going at it, full of vigour.

She envied their strength, but could only keep moving forward.

Walking over to Viesta, who was seated in a cross-legged position, Lillian couldn’t help but smile a bit. Since this morning, the woman couldn’t do anything but speak and describe what the inside of her Mana Realm looked like.

This was the sort of reaction Lillian would have had as well if hers wasn’t so plain and boring…

‘Viesta even has a guardian in her Mana Realm… So, lucky…’

Sighing, Lillian shook the woman awake before summoning another 5 Affinity Pills from thin air.

If she had the ability to grow the strength and talents of those around her, Lillian was fine with parting with a few hundred Theatrical Points she had stored up.
