Chapter 472: System’s Title Section?
Afterwards, everything went as planned. Everyone trained in the Captain’s gauntlet of traps throughout the jungle, which he had reset. And she went off with the Jungle Lord to learn the rest of the techniques.
The Captain was kind enough to teach the last two of his techniques to the Wendigo, who only found the last technique to be the most difficult to understand.
What wasn’t planned was Emilio trying to train with her as well. She wasn’t sure if it was so he could somehow get close to her, or to actually improve.
Lillian narrowed her gaze on the young man, who sparred with the Captain. Her eyes looked over his figure and form.
Unlike her, Emilio won’t make as fast progress due to his talents.
Well…
Talents when it came to martial arts, that was.
Lillian took a quick look at her status.

[System Shop]

‘2,000 or so Theatrical Points in two days? Yikes…’ Lillian whistled; it wasn’t bad.
Her eyes then trailed around her status before settling on something she found was… Unfamiliar.
‘That’s new…’ Lillian looked at the title section on her status and smiled wryly at what she had so far. Rejected Jungle Lord? Pathetic Rabbit of Fated Truths? What were these titles?
Did the Jungle God not find her appealing enough for her to be a guardian of one of its jungles? And why was it that she was called a pathetic rabbit instead of just a rabbit?
Did she really resemble a rabbit that much?
Sighing, Lillian tapped on one of the titles and decided to look into it.

[Title: Rejected Jungle Lord]
[Description: The Jungle God looked down upon your vicious battle against one of his guardians. He laughed loudly, amused and much entertained, especially with your last spectacle. With one of the requirements fulfilled to become his guardian, he stretched his hand out before shrinking back under the striking glare of several higher concepts; thus leading to the rejection.]

Lillian’s face twitched when she read this. The Jungle God… Shrunk back by a higher concept? By a higher concept, did that mean another god of a much more prominent and powerful element?
And several of them? Did she have several higher-level gods interested in her?
If so, didn’t that mean she would have become the next Jungle Lord if it weren’t for their intervening?
‘I could have gained so many abilities!’ Lillian shrieked before snuffling out her despair. Although she lost a chance for extra abilities, she was ultimately glad, since that would’ve meant she would be stuck here.
‘I definitely wouldn’t want that…’

Lillian frowned slightly at the mysterious question marks. She looked around in hopes of finding something, but was disappointed to find nothing.
Why was this one hidden?
Seeing there was no point and looking any further, Lillian swiped away and instead went into her System Shop to acquire something.
Lillian gazed upon the 2D image of a familiar-looking pill that cost 100 TP.
Lesser Affinity Pills.
At some point in the past, she had wastefully spent points on some of these in hopes of increasing her affinity—but to her dismay, she found them ineffective and no longer proved any effects.
And considering that she could only buy these qualities of pills from the shop… It was rather disheartening.
‘Only the more higher quality pills would suffice now…’
Luckily, there were other consumables she could buy, like potions that could boost her endurance, intellectual prowess, or even poison.
But right now, she was only focused on the lesser Affinity Pills. She was planning to give them to Emilio.
Since the level of talent was usually linked to the amount of impurities found on a mage’s Mana Shell around their Mana Core, there could be other reasons, but this one was the most prominent.
‘My Mana Shell must’ve had a lot of impurities as well…’
Going by how weak she was previously at the start of this year, that was definitely a sign of the ridiculous amount of impurities hidden inside her Mana Shell.
‘They’re usually permanent under normal and natural circumstances.’ One couldn’t remove the impurities within a person’s Mana Shell; well, no one but the Jester could.
With each progression, the Jester would step in and forcefully remove the impurity infection from the person. After all, if the person managed to survive that long, they should be granted the ability to live longer to entertain their heavenly audience.
‘Although if I remember correctly… Wasn’t there a Major Affinity Pill back at the top of the Cliff God’s temple?’
Lillian remembered there would always be a reward for a player whenever they reached the top of each temple.
However…
Lillian eyed the Captain, who was going easy on the sweaty Emilio.
‘He must’ve taken it when he was stealing all of the furniture at the top…’
If she weren’t so focused on planting the crystal into its stone slot and retrieving the flower, she would’ve claimed it for herself.
Sighing, Lillian waited for their spar to end. When it did, she sent her Jungle Lord to go spar with the Captain, who was still brimming with energy and strolled over to the young man.
***
“Huff… Huff…”
Thud.
Emilio fell onto her rear before completely falling onto his back. His muscles were sore and his eyes slightly droopy. Although he was a 1st Tier mage, he still required the minimum number of sleep.
And because of the Captain’s rude awakening when he arrived at his tent, he didn’t manage to get it. If anything, he could still blame the Captain, even if it wasn’t for training purposes.
He had been the one to keep him up last night with his thrilling tale!
Holding a hand above his eyes, he flexed it and tried to control his Mana, but grimaced when he couldn’t. Unlike the 2nd Tiers, who could control their Mana freely, he couldn’t and could only rely on his pure physical abilities and magic to survive.
Fortunately, though… With the help of Lillian, unexpectedly, he had been able to enter his Mana Realm—something he wouldn’t have expected.
Summoning a reflective glass shard into the hand hovering above his face, he stared into the face of an abominable beast hidden within the mirror world of the glass shard.
This was the creature that had almost killed him the first day he arrived in this world… And with Lillian’s utter benevolence, she granted him this Shard after killing it.
Once you give a Shard away inside a Trial, you can’t get that exact Shard back, no matter what. So, the fact that Lillian had casually given away something as valuable as a Monster Shard was… Shocking to say the least.
‘This bastards still brings them dreaded dreams at night…’
Although the monster was dead and now within his control, he was still afflicted with horrific dreams of that day; the feeling of his life slipping away and the corner of his vision darkening… It was chilling.
But.
That made him even more grateful for the lady who saved his life. If only… If only he could repay her the same way she had helped him when he needed it.
He doubted his saviour would want something as meager as money as payment for saving his life, so the only thing he could offer was his strength.
‘But…’
With his god-awful talents, all he would ever be capable of was acting as some worm bait for some large fish!
He had prayed every night to each of the Four Cardinal Gods in hopes of them granting him some kind of blessing… Or just to fix the poor impurities within his Mana Shell…
But, of course, like most deities would, none answered his prayers; thus leading him into despair as his siblings grew up far stronger… And taller than him.
Some of his siblings even had lovers already!
‘What good is an element like mine if I can barely cast any spells with it?!’
His element cost a foul amount of Mana to use, one that would leave even a single attack spell leave him dripping in sweat and panting if he were an average person.
Fortunately, he grew up in an established noble family with countless resources that could support him, although not enough, of course, due to his talents.
Even now, with just a small spar with a man as strong as the Captain, he could barely comprehend even a little into his Combat Style, much less the Expressions of its techniques.
‘Why must the heavens be so cruel…?’
When he had heard that Lillian had already learnt most of the Combat Style’s Expressions in an hour, he was dumbfounded; how did she do it? In terms of talents, how much of a difference was there between him and her!?
How could someone decrease the efforts needed from days to months down to just a singular hour?!
Emilio gritted his teeth.
Why was it that he was given such horrid talents? Did he not come from a powerful family of individuals with superior genetics? Why was it that only he was met with misfortune in their family?
He had even struggled with the most basic forms of his family’s Combat Styles… Why was the world so unfair!?
As Emilio continued to dwell on his negative thoughts and feel his tears bubble in the corners of his eyes, he noticed a shadow loom over him.
Lowering his hand away from his face, his eyes settled on the beautiful face of a girl with alabaster skin and white hair with blue eyes akin to the most gorgeous of gems.
As Emilio quickly wiped away the tears in the corners of his eyes, intending not to make himself appear as a weak fool in front of his saviour, he opened his mouth, almost about to ask if she needed anything, until his words got stuck in his throat.
“Hey, Emilio~… I know of a way to increase that talent of yours. Want me to help you with that~?”
Emilio gulped and sniffled as he said with a stutter:
“H-huh…?”
