Chapter 273: Demons?
Arghhhhhh~” Maria staggered forward the moment her feet hit solid water-ground again. Her knees bent, her whole body wobbling like a drunk toddler. One hand slapped over her mouth, the other grabbed her stomach with pure desperation.
“I swear.. am never going to get used to these spinning wormpoolss…” she croaked, half bent over. “They spin everything inside me.. my soul, my brain, my stomach, my intestines EVERYTHING is still spinning!”
She gagged softly.
Razeal ofcourse just ignored her
“So are we in the second sea now?” he asked, voice smooth as if Maria wasn’t dying beside him.
He stared ahead, gaze locked on the breathtaking coral city blooming in the watery distance. The entire underwater world seemed alive glowing colors, carved coral architecture towering like living temples, streets flowing like liquid crystal, and a faint hum of a dense population radiating from the depths.
His crimson eyes narrowed further as he absorbed everything.
And then he glanced behind at the thin, impossibly straight invisible line in the ocean where the water shifted color.
The border.
The same type of dividing line he had seen before a line that separated Wild Sea from Third Sea.
But now… it was behind them.
Which meant…
Second Sea.
Still, he waited for the confirmation.
Beside him, Neptunia was also half-dead from nausea her blue hair sticking to her cheek, eyes unfocused, shoulders sagging. She had been tossed out of the same vortex, spiraled by the same cosmic force, yet somehow Razeal looked like he had stepped off a calm boat rather than being blender-spun through dimensions.
“…What is he MADE out of…?” Neptunia muttered under her breath, staring at him like he was an unnatural creature. “Does he not have organs? A nervous system? Anything?? He definitely got thrown harder than me.. and he’s just standing there.. What a weirdo…”
Razeal ignored her too.
Finally, Neptunia lifted her head, blinking slowly, and looked at the oceanic horizon. Her breathing steadied as the environment settled around her the cleaner water, brighter light, and refreshing aura unmistakable.
“Yes…” she said, nodding at last. “We’re standing at the edge of Second Sea. Right at the entrance.” She pointed backward at the faint dividing line. “We literally just crossed the border.”
“Hmmm. Good.” Razeal nodded, satisfied.
“Seems like this Thalassa… the Mother or whatever… isn’t that bad.”
Neptunia’s eye twitched.
“Mother Thalassa,” she corrected sharply.
Razeal continued casually, unbothered, “She did send us back here. Even carried us forward some distance. I remember we were teleported into the ancient battleground right from the middle of Wild Sea.”
Neptunia muttered again under her breath.
“…More like she yeeted us OUT because someone half-destroyed her battlefield…”
She said in her head still remembered his last attack.. the one that annihilated billions of sea beasts in a single strike. It made her spine cold even now.
Razeal ofcourse didn’t notice whatver she was saying in her head.
He kept staring toward the glowing coral city.
“So, should we go in now?” he asked.
“Of course not YETTTT!!”
Maria suddenly marched in front of him, still holding her stomach, eyes wide as she glared up at him.
Razeal blinked, confused.
“What?”
“I mean FIRST,” Maria snapped, jabbing a finger upward toward his chest, “you are going to tell me what the fuck you did to me!”
Razeal stared.
Maria continued, eyebrows scrunched, voice rising in frustration and panic.
“I DEFINITELY have no idea.. NONE about what happened. And don’t you think at least a LITTLE explanation is needed?? You took my heart out. Then put some OTHER heart in. I want to know whose heart it was.”
She thumped her chest lightly.
“And what kind of side effects it has! Because just some time ago.. my heart was BURNING. BURNING! And my whole body went paralyzed I couldn’t even twitch a finger! And don’t even get me started on the lava feeling I swear it felt like molten metal was flowing through my veins!!”
Razeal squinted at her.
“…Is it that important?”
Maria stared back at him.
Then she pointed at her face.
Then at her chest.
Then at him again.
“Do you think it is NOT?!”
Her eyes screamed,
“Are you fucking serious right now?”
Razeal tilted his head a little. “I mean you’re alive, aren’t you as i had promised you?”
Maria looked like she was about to strangle him.
“Alive? ALIVE?? Do you think simply being alive explains anything?! You cannot just take a girl’s heart out shove something weird inside and then walk away like THAT’S NORMAL!”
Neptunia coughed softly from behind, whispering to herself, “…Honestly, he would as farr as ive noticed.”
Maria ignored her.
She stepped closer, jabbing Razeal’s chest again. “Tell. Me. Everything. Right now. I’m not stepping one foot into that glowing or what city until I understand what monster heart you put inside me.”
Razeal stared at her for a long moment, his expression unreadable.
Then he sighed lightly.
Alright… Razeal slowly nodded, rubbing his chin like he was trying to gather the correct words from the scattered mess inside his head. His crimson eyes narrowed as if he was genuinely considering where to even begin with this madness.
“Hmm… so first of all…” he finally said, calmly, almost too casually for the weight of what he was about to say. “Congratulations. You are no longer a full pure human.”
Maria literally froze as her eyebrows shot up mouth partimg a little even her brain stopping a little.
“Huhhh??”
It wasn’t even a normal confused sound. It was the type of confused noise a person makes when their entire understanding of reality just gets drop-kicked out of their skull. She could practically see floating question marks spinning around her head like mocking little birds.
“Not… a full human?? What do you mean by THAT?” Maria asked, her voice raising half an octave as she stared at him like he had just told her she was secretly a goat.
Razeal just shrugged slightly, still rubbing his chin lazily. “Well, I won’t explain much at least not in complicated terms. So let me tell you in your own language.”
Maria narrowed her eyes dangerously at that comment, but he continued before she could punch him.
“The heart I replaced into you… was from an 8th ranked being. A very different race. So because of putting that into your body, your race has been slightly altered.”
He said it calmly. As if he was explaining she had gotten a haircut or lost a shoe NOT that she had been turned into something not-human.
Maria’s eyes widened even more. “An… 8th-ranked being’s heart?” she whispered, disbelief ripping through her voice.
Her mouth hung open, truly agape. Anyone who wasn’t an idiot knew what an 8th rank meant. There were very, very few beings in the world at that level. Even her mother was one and that alone made her aware how terrifyingly powerful an 8th rank being must be.
So how the HELL did he… get the heart of one?
She stared at him suspiciously, eyes scanning his annoyingly handsome face. His expression was cold, composed, almost bored like all of this was normal.
But Maria couldn’t stop thinking
He really might be strong enough to steal a heart like that… He is weird enough too… and terrifying enough…
She reluctantly shook the thought away.
“So…” she finally said, still trying to process this. “Which race am I now? I mean.. which race did that heart come from?”
She kept staring at her own arms, her skin, her fingers, scanning herself for anything unusual. She knew about heart-fusion theories. They weren’t new, but they were rare. Extremely rare. Only insane people or desperate people even attempted it.
And the effects were different: dragon hearts granting insane mana storage, elemental hearts granting affinity and elemental mana flow, magical creature hearts giving weird unique powers…
But NONE of those felt right with what she experienced.
She had no scales.
No wings.
No elemental phenomena swirling around her.
So what the hell
“Well…” Razeal said, drawing out the word as his eyes flicked over her like he was preparing for her freakout. “That was the heart of a demon. A Greater Devil, to be exact. A very high-ranking demon. You can say you are very lucky.”
He said it and then looked away again, rubbing his chin thoughtfully like he was deciding how much to reveal. He knew she had never heard of this race. He knew she wouldn’t understand any of this. Demons didn’t exist in this world not in records, not in myths, not in legends.
So hearing this?
It was like telling a farmer their cow had turned into a spaceship.
“A demon?” Maria frowned hard. “What? Devil? Greater devil? High-ranking demon?”
She blinked at him rapidly, processing the sheer level of nonsense he had just thrown at her.
“You aren’t talking bullshit to me, right? I’ve NEVER heard of this kind of race. Not in any history books, not in ancient bestiaries, not in religious texts NOTHING. Believe me, lying to me is stupid. Because I won’t believe it. I’ve read about almost every magical race in this world, and I’m a hundred percent sure there is NO such thing as demons or devils.”
She crossed her arms and glared up at him like she was absolutely sure he was messing with her.
Razeal deadpanned. “I’m not lying.”
He pointed his finger directly at her forehead.
“And jokes on you. You’re now half demon. Right now. So saying demons don’t exist would mean you don’t exist.”
Maria stared at him with the expression of someone who was questioning all her life decisions at once.
She swallowed slowly.
Then turned her head stiffly toward Neptunia.
“Have you ever heard about demons?” she asked, almost desperately.
Never…” Neptunia shook her head firmly, her blue hair swaying with the motion. “Never heard of such a race either. Not even once.”
Maria’s gaze immediately snapped back toward Razeal.
She didn’t speak not that she need to. Her stare said everything loud enough.. Don’t lie to me.
Tell Me The truth.
Razeal simply shrugged casually, almost lazily, like she was accusing him of stealing cookies and not rewriting the biology of her entire existence.
“You two not knowing about it isn’t my problem,” he said, staring directly into Maria’s eyes with cold seriousness. “Just because you don’t know about it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. And I have zero reason to lie to you about it.”
Maria’s breathing steadied. She looked at him a moment longer, trying to read him as if to see if there was even a crack in his expression.
There wasn’t.. Not that she was confident that she could read this bastard.. He’s always been weird.. to her.. Honestly.
“Alright…” she finally murmured, exhaling slowly as she nodded. “Fine. Clearly I don’t have many options here. So tell me about demons.”
That request made Razeal pause.
He slowly tilted his head, studying her from head to toe like he was evaluating her worthiness to hear the answer. Then he fell silent
He wasn’t deciding what to tell her and also deciding as how much to hide.
Because the truth was something he absolutely did not want to explain. Definitely not now and maybe even never.
There was no point telling her that demons were from another world.
That they were feared, hated, hunted.
That their existence was wrapped in blood and calamity blaahh blahh whatver shit.
So he chose the easy option.
Lie.
And lie beautifully.
“Well…” Razeal finally spoke, voice smooth. “Demons are very interesting creatures. A high-level race. That’s the simplest way to say it.”
Maria and Neptunia both leaned closer, curiosity shining their eyes.
Then Razeal suddenly asked:
“Have you heard about angels?”
Maria blinked. “Of course. Who hasn’t?”
“Good,” he nodded. “That helps. Because demons are… like angels too.”
“Ohhhhh?” Maria and Neptunia both stared at him like he had just told them the sun was a glowing apple.
Razeal continued anyway, stone-faced:
“Beautiful. Kind. Nice. Cute and adorable. They really like lovely, good people and then they choose to help them.” He nodded repeatedly, maintaining a perfectly serious face.
Maria’s eyes squinted dangerously.
“But angels might ignore you,” he added. “Demons won’t. They are kinder. Way kinder. They might have a little temper but honestly? Very easy to get along with. Pure benevolence. Very truthful. Compassionate. High-hearted. Soft. Gentle. Just… total sweethearts.. Just simple strawberrys..”
He finished with the same deadpan expression like he hadn’t just spoken the greatest bullshit of the century.
Maria and Neptunia just simply stared at him.
Even the ocean breeze paused awkwardly.
[ Host… I mean… yes we’re villains but WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? Even demons themselves wouldn’t approve of this “creative introduction” This just feels wrong honestly..! ] Villey’s voice trembled like it was about to faint from secondhand embarrassment.
Razeal ignored it completely.
He merely raised a finger and pointed straight at Maria.
“Have you seen yourself now? You became half demon and instantly became more beautiful and powerful. Believe me.. demons are one of the best races to ever exist.”
Maria narrowed her eyes even more.
It was honestly bizarre hearing him praise anything.
Suspicious even.
Like he was hiding something.
She gave him a look that practically screamed:
You’re lying. I KNOW you’re lying.
Razeal didn’t care.
“If you don’t believe me, ask her.” He jerked his chin toward Neptunia. “You definitely improved.”
Neptunia blinked, then awkwardly looked at Maria from head to toe.
And then the strangest expression crossed her face.
“…You did,” Neptunia admitted slowly. “You were very beautiful already, but now you definitely improved.”
Her gaze lingered.. too long on Maria’s chest… and then her thighs… then back up again.
Her cheeks puffed slightly with a tiny spark of envy… Definitely jelous.
Maria caught Neptunia’s gaze briefly, then lowered her eyes again, staring down at herself. Something about Razeal’s words, his tone, his expression it all felt strange. Suspicious even. Like every sentence he spoke was dipped in honey only to hide the poison underneath.
Demons… benevolent? That alone felt ridiculous lile no race that kind, that loving, that “pure sunshine” could exist without anyone in the world knowing about it. It made no sense.
“Demons, huh…” Maria thought internally, squinting slightly.
Before she could continue doubting him, the water before her rippled suddenly. The surface twisted, swirled, and then rose upward like a sheet folding itself. In seconds, it shaped into a perfect circular disk smooth, reflective a mirror of shimmering water.
Maria blinked.
Then stepped in front of it.
Her breath got stuck in her throat.
“KKyaaaaaaa?!”
Her scream echoed across the entrance of the Second Sea.
She slapped both hands to her face and leaned so close her nose almost poked into the watery surface.
“My left eye.. my left eye is RED?! What the hell.. what happened to my beautiful aqua blue?! Now I look WEIRD why one blue and one red?! What kind of mismatched demon accessory is this?!”
She tugged at the bottom of her eyelids with both hands, pulling her face down comically while screaming. Even Neptunia took half a step back.
Then Maria suddenly froze.
Her eyes narrowed slowly.
Her gaze slid downward, very slowly… very suspiciously… to her reflection.
Her chest.
Her waist.
Her hips.
Her thighs.
Her entire body.
“…Wait.”
She leaned even closer, squinting hard.
“…Did I just… become… sexy?”
Neptunia coughed in the background almost chokimg on her own spit.
Maria ignored both as she continued intensely inspecting herself.
Her curves sharper.
Her thighs fuller.
Her waist tighter.
Her skin glowing.
Her legs longer.
Her entire figure like someone took her old body and pressed the Upgrade to Goddess Mode button.
The dress she wore she had replaced it earlier with one from her storage ring because the previous one was ripped apart by certain someone.. but now that dress was fitting differently. The fabric stretched tighter across her chest, clung smoother to her hips, and rode higher along her thighs. No wonder it felt different.
And then
She noticed something else.
“…I’m taller?!”
Maria nearly tripped.
She backed away from the mirror like it had offended her.
“I.. what when ..HOW did I grow?! I was NOT this tall before! I swear I grew like three or four inches! My whole dress seems shorter because of it!!”
Her voice cracked.
This was too much.
Demons??
Devils??
Becoming hotter???
Growing taller???
Red eyes???
This is just best thing that had happened to her.. Except red eye ofcourse..?
“Is this because of that heart too?” she whispered. “Am I really… half demon?”
She blinked rapidly, confusion, awe, irritation, Excitement and shock swirling violently inside her.
Razeal hummed as if deep in thought then opened his mouth.
And immediately began bullshitting again.
“Well, just a thing to realize…” he said, lifting one finger dramatically. “Good thing about devils… Believe me, the kind of devil who is also the Lord of Hell.. Lucifer he was created by God Himself.”
Maria and Neptunia looked towards him.
Razeal continued without shame:
“It is said he was made from… um… the musical instruments of heaven. One of the most beautiful creations ever. He was created to be worshipped by all.”
Maria’s head tilted like a confused puppy… As she have little knowledge about this.. Thought Neptunia was totally dumbfounded as she doesn’t really know about god concept or whatever..
“He was very lovely. God loved him so much He personally gave him the world’s most important job the Lord of Hell!” Razeal explained passionately. “Believe me, they love each other very much. Lucifer has a very close relationship with God. He always wants to meet Him and spend more time with Him.”
Razeal nodded, expression smooth and serious like everything he just said wasn’t complete nonsense.
“Really?” Maria asked, genuinely surprised. “God created him? And he’s the most beautiful person?”
Inside Razeal’s mind:
[ HOST PLEASE STOP .. YOU’RE COMMITTING A SPIRITUAL CRIME ] Villey said speachlessly
Razeal ignored it entirely.
“Of course,” he said, nodding with divine-level confidence. “The absolute most divine beauty. Perfect. Radiant. Gorgeous. His looks alone could conquer anyone.”
Maria slowly touched her cheek, softly brushing her fingers along her newly smoother skin.
“…Did I become something like an angel too?” she whispered to herself. “I mean which girl wouldn’t want that…”
She actually looked… hopeful.
Razeal internally smirked.
Then Maria remembered something.
“And what is hell again?” she asked suddenly. “You said this Lucifer guy was the lord of hell.. put there by God Himself.”
Razeal didn’t even blink.
“Well… it’s a good place,” he lied again smoothly. “Only special people deserve to go there. Kind, nice, wonderful souls. It’s like… a paradise of beauty and fun.”
Maria stared.
Neptunia whispered to maria as leaning closer to her: “Is he… mentally stable…?”
“Basically,” Razeal concluded, “hell is one of the best places ever.”
Maria narrowed her eyes sharply.
“…Means you’re never going there,” she said flatly. “Not even by accident.”
Razeal froze mid-sentence.
“…”
He coughed into his fist lightly.
“A.. Ah yes. Certainly.” He smoothed his coat with unnecessary force. “But YOU definitely deserve a place like that. Me? I’m… uh… too short for hell.”
Maria stared at him blankly.
Razeal gently placed a hand on her shoulder, looking down at her with the calm seriousness of a lying prophet.
“You deserve only the best.”
Maria blinked once.
Twice.
Then frowned.
“…Why are you acting so weird today?” she asked, eyes narrowing. “Seriously. What’s wrong with you?”
