Chapter 307: Chapter 303 – Breakfast of the Sovereigns and the Blushing Morning
Morning on the First Floor of the underworld wasn’t anything like morning on the surface.
Here, light didn’t come from the sun, it came from dozens of white-gold crystals floating across the ceiling, radiating a soft glow like early dawn.
The air was warm but not scorching. Quiet but not dead. Peaceful for one specific reason:
Sofia arranged it that way.
She had completely transformed the First Floor into a place that no longer felt like hell, but like a temple or a sacred palace.
And that morning…
Two figures stepped out of the main chamber, the large door closing quietly behind them.
Sylvia and Sofia walked side by side.
They had just finished bathing and it showed. Sylvia’s usually messy hair now fell neatly and gleamed, black as wet obsidian. Her normally cold face looked slightly… fresher? Her skin looked smooth, like it had been tuned by death energy itself.
Sofia was even more obvious. Her golden hair flowed softly, still slightly damp, her cheeks rosy, and her wings emitted faint little sparks of light she clearly couldn’t hide.
The two of them looked like people who were… very satisfied.
Alicia was the first to see them enter the dining hall.
She was stirring tea in a crystal cup with casual elegance while Stacia sat beside her reading a small book, and the little Treant was soaking in a bowl of warm water like it was a spa.
When the door opened…
Alicia nearly sprayed her tea.
“PFFFF…!!”
Stacia glanced toward the door, then slowly closed her book. The corners of her mouth lifted, the expression of someone trying not to make a very pointed comment.
The Treant poked its head out of the water, its leaves puffed out adorably.
“PLOP?”
(Oh? You’re up?)
Sylvia and Sofia froze at the entrance.
Sofia realized the situation first and her entire face went bright red. Her cheeks burned, and even her wings flickered faintly, a physiological reaction of an angel in love, impossible to hide.
Sylvia… kept her expression blank.
But only on her face.
Inside, she was even redder than Sofia, possibly far more.
Alicia set her cup down on the table very loudly. Stacia adjusted her glasses (which had appeared from who-knows-where).
The Treant narrowed its eyes.
Alicia leaned forward, elbows on the table, eyes narrowed like a detective.
“Good morning… sleep well?”
Sylvia opened her mouth.
“…It was normal.”
Alicia immediately pointed at her dramatically.
“LIES!!! Your faces are glowing like you got tuned by a goddess of beauty!!”
Sofia covered her face with both hands, ears turning tomato-red.
“A-Alicia!! Don’t say that…!”
Stacia closed her book with a soft thud and looked at them with no smile but with eyes that clearly said: I know exactly what you two did.
“Well, sit down,” she said calmly. “Breakfast is ready. You must be… exhausted after fighting all night.”
FIGHTING, ALL, NIGHT.
Sofia nearly collapsed from embarrassment.
Sylvia maintained her stoic, icy façade.
But inside…
(…Stacia… please don’t say it like that…)
(Did they hear anything?)
(No. The room walls are thick. But… still…)
(…AARGH.)
Sylvia sat down silently, as if nothing whatsoever was going on. Sofia sat beside her, her wings trembling from embarrassment.
The Treant hopped out of its bowl and stomped toward Sylvia, slapping her leg with its tiny branch.
PLOP PLOP PLOP!!
(You left me!! You two are selfish!!)
Sylvia picked up the little Treant and placed it on her lap.
“…Sorry.”
The Treant huffed.
PLOP.
(I protest, but I forgive you.)
Alicia sipped her tea, barely holding back laughter.
“See? Even the Treant knows you two were noisy the whole night.”
Sofia smacked the table lightly.
“A-Alicia!!!”
Stacia added, “You both certainly look like you’ve just… fought.”
Sylvia almost choked on air.
(Don’t react, Don’t say anything, Remain quiet.)
…..
On the long table, a full meal was laid out:
– black toast made from underworld grain
– half-boiled magma eggs
– purified infernal meat soup
– sweet tea brewed from Nether Bloom petals
– and for the little Treant: a wooden bowl of mineral water and energy leaves as snacks
Alicia played with her toast but didn’t take a bite yet.
“So… how does it feel to finally reunite after more than a year?”
Sylvia: “…”
Sofia: “…”
Treant: Plop. (Ask again, ask again.)
Stacia stepped in diplomatically.
“Alicia. Don’t interrogate them. Let them eat first.”
Alicia lifted a brow. “I’m just being considerate.”
The Treant nodded solemnly like a union representative.
PLOP!
Sofia finally spoke in a tiny voice.
“I… I’m happy. That’s all.”
Alicia’s expression softened.
“That’s good.”
Then she stared sharply at Sylvia.
“And you? Happy?”
Sylvia chewed calmly, then glanced briefly at Sofia.
“…Yes.”
It was such a simple answer but Alicia knew Sylvia was melting inside from embarrassment.
The Treant patted Sylvia’s stomach with its tiny branch.
PLOP.
(I know too.)
Sofia lowered her head, stirring her soup.
“Sorry… for leaving you all behind like that.”
Stacia gave her a gentle look.
“It’s fine. You needed time. We understand.”
Alicia added, “As long as you didn’t destroy the whole room, everything’s good.”
Sofia covered her face again.
Sylvia nearly spat out her soup.
The Treant puffed out its branches proudly.
PLOP!!
(The room is strong. It didn’t break.)
Sofia squeaked, “TREANT!!”
Stacia snorted softly. Alicia burst out laughing.
The atmosphere grew warm, lively like a family finally complete again.
Warm enough that even Sylvia the coldest among them felt her chest soften each time she heard their laughter.
…..
A few minutes passed in peaceful, comfortable silence. The dining room felt like a new home’s morning calm, warm, filled with unspoken energy. Only the clinking of spoons, the whisper of steam from hot soup, and the Treant’s occasional plops could be heard.
Finally, Alicia set down her cup and looked at Sylvia.
“So… what’s next on the plan?”
Sofia automatically turned to Sylvia.
Sylvia automatically looked at Sofia.
They stared at each other for a few seconds long enough to communicate telepathically through sheer embarrassment before both turned away at the same time.
The little Treant raised its branch.
“Plop?”
(Are we going out today?)
Before Sylvia could answer, Stacia closed her book and spoke, voice soft but firm.
“I have a suggestion.”
All eyes and one pair of leaves turned to her.
Stacia continued,
“How about we return to the middle world first? Celes has been alone for too long… we don’t even know how much time has passed there because of the time flow difference.”
The room fell quiet.
Alicia rested her elbows on the table, looking at Sylvia and Sofia.
“She’s right. Even though it was just six months for us… we don’t know how long it has been in the middle world. It could be years.”
Sofia paled not out of fear, but guilt hitting her heart.
“Celes… She was alone. We left without warning…”
Sylvia closed her eyes.
Celes must be worried sick.
“…She’ll be angry,” Sylvia murmured.
The Treant nodded dramatically.
PLOP PLOP.
(She might throw a pillow at you later.)
Alicia cackled.
“Oh, she won’t be angry. She’ll just hug Sylvia so hard your bones crack.”
Sylvia imagined that and the tips of her cheeks tinted red.
Sofia spoke next, her voice gentle yet firm.
“Then… let’s return to the middle world first. We’ll make sure the castle is safe… and make sure Celes is alright.”
Stacia nodded.
“Then we can decide our next step.”
But just as Stacia closed the discussion… Sylvia spoke again.
“There’s one more thing.”
Everyone turned to her.
A soft cold aura spread around Sylvia not pressure, but a clarity that sharpened everyone’s senses. Her dark red eyes glowed subtly.
“Now that we’ve evolved… our strength is no longer on the level of ordinary demons. We don’t just match the gods…”
She opened her eyes fully.
“…we surpass them.”
The room went silent again.
Sofia understood instantly.
Alicia tilted her head.
“You mean… our power is above the gods of this world?”
Sylvia nodded calmly.
“The gods of this world are weak. Their rank isn’t high. They rule the middle world, yes but in terms of energy quality… they’re nothing compared to the gods from Earth.”
The little Treant raised both branches like weapons.
Plop!
(Fight again?)
Stacia looked at Sylvia seriously.
“You mean… we can defeat them?”
Sylvia didn’t hesitate.
“Yes.”
Sofia, who had been deep in thought, finally spoke softly.
“It’s true… I feel different as well. The holy energy in my body is far denser. I… I feel like I’m on the level of a high seraph.”
Alicia added,
“I’m not an angel, but my soul-body can slip dimensions without tearing. That was impossible before.”
Stacia continued,
“And I wield time and space now. That alone is equivalent to a minor god of dimensions.”
Sylvia looked at each of them.
“If we want to finish the task from the World Avatar…”
She clenched her fist.
“…it’ll be faster if we crush the remaining gods.”
Alicia froze. Stacia didn’t look surprised, just concerned.
The Treant shrieked excitedly:
PLOP!!
(I’m coming too!!)
