Chapter 322: Power Vs Speed
Not wanting to delay his advancement, Nash went straight to find Skylar for a fight.

Soon, finding where Skylar was training, he knocked on the door.

“Hmm? Who is it?” Skylar asked, stepping outside.

“It’s me,” Nash smiled.

“Nash? Are you ready for a fight?”

“The question is, are you ready?”

“More than ready!” Skylar’s eyes lit up with fighting intent.

He had long been waiting for a rematch with Nash.

However, seeing how busy Nash had been, he always felt embarrassed to ask.

Now that it was Nash who came to him, Skylar couldn’t ask for more.

“Then let’s go somewhere far. There’s no need for an audience,” Nash said, leading the way.

It was too troublesome to gather a crowd and ensure their safety.

Furthermore, it would be embarrassing if either of them were to lose.

Their rivalry might even cause a rift within the team.

Having the same thought, Skylar followed without another word.

—

Arriving thousands of kilometers away from the base, Nash and Skylar faced each other.

“Such a perfect place. Those cosmic elites were really diligent cleaning this area,” Skylar commented while looking at the [Map Module].

Seeing no dark beasts within hundreds of kilometers, Skylar couldn’t help but feel excited.

Now, there is no need to worry that they would attract a dark beast in a short while.

“Haha, of course. I chose this area carefully,” Nash said with a grin.

“How about we set the rules first?” Skylar asked, eager to start.

“Same as before; no weapons, no killing, and the first to become immobile or surrender loses,” Nash decided.

He had thought about making the rule “first to land a fatal injury wins,” but considering Skylar’s speed, he knew he would lose instantly.

“Oh? What a pity. I thought I could use this~” Skylar sighed, glancing at his beloved sword.

Like Nash, he also wielded a growth weapon, one of the rewards they received after their shelter reached level five.

Its function was simple: unmatched speed.

Although it didn’t directly amplify his body, his attack speed could reach another magnitude.

If his base speed was enhanced a thousandfold by his genetic ability, his attack speed could reach ten thousand times that.

It could be said that with such a blade, even if the enemy could see through his moves, they still wouldn’t be able to dodge.

“Haha, I’m doing this for your own good. I didn’t want to accidentally kill you,” Nash replied.

While his weapon didn’t provide any amplification, it could cut through anything.

If he wasn’t careful, he might actually slice Skylar in half.

“I see. Then no weapons,” Skylar agreed, remembering Nash’s weapon when they cleared the dark beast nest.

Soon after confirming the rules, the two took their stances.

Facing each other in silence for a few minutes, Skylar was the first to make his move.

Activating his evolved genetic ability, time seemed to freeze as he instantly appeared before Nash, throwing a punch at his face.

Seeing Nash remain motionless, Skylar thought he could send him flying—

However, instead, it was his arm that almost shattered on impact.

Retreating in shock and cold sweat, he looked at his hand, now twisted beyond recognition.

“Oh? Looks like I guessed it right. You really are predictable,” Nash laughed, seeing Skylar’s condition.

“How dare you do that?! You’re too insidious!”

At that moment, Skylar realized he had been tricked.

Nash had predicted his attack, focusing all his void energy on his face, combined with a secret technique; no wonder his arm nearly broke.

But such a move was extremely dangerous. It left the rest of Nash’s body as fragile as paper.

If Skylar had aimed for his torso, or worse, the back of his head, Nash could have died.

“It’s because I’m confident that I could predict your attack.” Nash explained calmly.

The reason why he was confident was because he was reading the runic commands within Skylar’s body.

While reading the runic program let him glimpse his opponent’s actions, reading the runic commands allowed him to peer into their subconscious.

Of course, even if he was confident, Nash wouldn’t dare rely on it completely.

Unlike what Skylar thought, while most of Nash’s energy was focused on his face, about thirty percent still dutifully defended his body.

Even if he was hit elsewhere, he would only be injured at most.

“It’s still too dangerous. If you try that trick again, I won’t fight you,” Skylar said, unwilling to continue.

What if he accidentally killed Nash?

That would implicate not only him but also every member of the Nova Team and even the Nova Sector itself.

Not wanting to bear such a sin, Skylar would rather give up than risk it.

“Alright, I’ll fight without any tricks,” Nash said with a smile, promising not to do it again.

He only tried it to see if he could block an attack with his bare body. Now that it worked, he was already satisfied.

“That’s good…”

Taking another stance, Skylar launched another attack at Nash.

However, still haunted by what happened earlier, he didn’t activate his genetic ability and even held back his power.

Noticing his hesitation, Nash could only smile.

Exchanging blows after blows, the fight slowly began to warm up.

Soon, after dozens of minutes of trading punches, Skylar finally got serious and activated his genetic ability again.

Like before, time seemed to stop as he appeared beside Nash and kicked toward his stomach.

Landing a solid hit, Skylar immediately deactivated his ability, expecting Nash to be sent flying—

But to his shock, as soon as time returned to normal, his leg was caught.

Gripping his leg tightly, Nash struck back.

Feeling the crushing strength on his leg, Skylar could only defend as a storm of punches rained down on him.

Even as he reactivated his genetic ability, he could only counterattack weakly, unable to escape Nash’s grasp.

Dodging and counterattacking, Nash seemed like an immortal demon that just couldn’t fall.

As his genetic ability gradually weakened, slowing down his movement, Nash’s flurry of punches finally landed on his body.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Exchanging direct blows without any regard to dodging, they were like brute maniacs who didn’t have any skill.

Unfortunately, unable to bear any more attacks, Skylar finally lost consciousness.

Beaten from head to toe, he collapsed, while Nash stood over him, breathing heavily, as a crooked grin appeared on his face.

“Hah~ still too green!”

Even if Skylar’s speed was fast, it couldn’t last long. Once Nash caught him in close range, it became a test of endurance.

Lacking experience, Skylar fell right into his trap and was beaten to the ground.

“Now that’s two to zero… You’ve still got a lot to catch up on.”
