Chapter 316: The Nova Challenge
“I’m the leader, What do you want from us?” Nash slowly walked out, looking at the speaker.

“That’s good. Now immediately get out of this place. This path was already reserved by the Asskar Sector.”

“Coincidentally, we’re interested in it too.”

“What do you mean?! Do you want to go to war?” the envoy asked angrily.

Scanning the group, Nash noticed that aside from five Void Venerates, they had nothing worth showing off.

Perhaps the team before them was even the weakest participant in the entire Ashura Path.

Having already given them the grace to retreat, the envoy didn’t expect they wouldn’t take it seriously.

“War? Haha, you can think so. Now, out of the way. Otherwise, I’ll kill you,” Nash said with a cold smile.

Feeling a tingling sensation on his neck, the envoy shivered before he could say anything.

Gulping, he just gritted his teeth and scurried back to his team.

As for threats, the envoy wasn’t stupid enough to risk his life just to keep his pride.

Seeing the envoy quickly leave, Nash sighed.

“It seems we’ll have to fight after all…”

Knowing there was a penalty for every life they took, Nash didn’t really want to clash with anyone.

Unfortunately, the Tier 5 resource point was something they couldn’t afford to compromise on.

“Haha, that’s fine. Isn’t it just a fight? It’s perfect for a warm-up,” Natasha and the others laughed.

Before even reaching the resource point, they were already facing a small appetizer of an enemy.

“You guys are really…” Nash smiled wryly, seeing that no one was nervous.

—

Continuing their march toward the resource point, they soon came face-to-face with the Asskar Team.

Stopping at a certain distance, both teams quickly deployed their war weapons, ready to fight at any moment.

Taking advantage of the darkness, Nash began to secretly mobilize all the Spiral Behemoths to flank the enemy.

Once everyone had prepared their respective attack and defence formations, the two leaders tacitly met in the middle for the final negotiation.

“I’m Ryfin, leader of the Asskar Team. Are you the leader of the Nova Team?” Ryfin asked, looking at him.

“I am. The name’s Nash. How do you say shall we solve this?”

“I don’t know. How do you want it?” Ryfin asked with interest.

Knowing the strength of the Nova Team, he couldn’t understand where they found the courage to challenge them.

Checking the rankings, he saw they were close to the 14,000th mark, while the Asskar Team sat farther ahead in the top 9,000.

“Simple. We fight until one of us retreats or is wiped out,” Nash said coldly.

As one of the weaker teams, he couldn’t propose anything civil.

Instead of going in circles, it was better to fight directly until one side gave up or died trying.

“What a bold guy.” Ryfin smiled, not the least bit deterred by his words, thinking it was just a bluff.

“If that’s what you want, then you’re welcome to try. Remember, though, we won’t hold back just because of the penalty.” Finishing his piece, Ryfin slowly retreated.

Meanwhile, seeing the enemy let their guard down, Nash gave Skylar a signal.

Since the enemy leader was right before them, how could they not take advantage of it?

They weren’t here to play; they were here to compete and survive in this harsh place.

Any rules, ethics, or logic could be thrown to the ground for all he cared.

Receiving the signal, Skylar activated his genetic ability and attacked Ryfin from behind.

Not expecting such a sneak attack, Ryfin was struck hard and sent flying.

“You—!”

Feeling his body tearing apart, Ryfin gritted his teeth, barely holding on.

Fortunately, his defensive treasure automatically activated the moment he was attacked.

“Attack!”

Not giving the enemy time to react, Nash quickly issued the order to all cosmic elites through the [Communication Module].

Taking advantage of the Eternal Night and guided by the [Map Module], they moved like assassins, dodging enemy war weapons and striking at their cores.

Before Ryfin could even regain his senses, notifications of his team members’ deaths echoed in his ears.

“How could you do this?! No! Stop! We give up!”

At that moment, Ryfin’s mind worked in a flash and quickly waved a flag of surrender.

Although he didn’t know how they managed to kill his teammates without the war weapons reacting, or how they could navigate and coordinate so easily in this dark phenomenon, Ryfin knew one thing: they were on the losing end.

Not wanting to suffer more losses, Ryfin quickly announced their surrender.

It had only been a little over a month since the start of the competition; he didn’t want more casualties than necessary.

They could always find another resource point after giving up this one, but each fallen member could never be replaced.

Soon, as the sounds of death notifications stopped, Ryfin heaved a sigh of relief.

It seemed the Nova Team had a unique communication method that worked even in the Dark Plane.

“Thank you. The Asskar Team owes you one. If you ever need us in the future, just tell me.”

“Good. I hope you honor your words.” Hearing their surrender, Nash nodded, as if he had expected it all along.

Giving the order for the Cosmic Elites to stop and retreat, Nash shot Ryfin a cold smile.

“If you’re unsatisfied with the outcome, you’re welcome to challenge us again.”

“No—no. We really give up this time.” Ryfin said, having already extinguished all his arrogance.

Seeing the calm Nash and the assassin hidden in the darkness, Ryfin felt as though he had stumbled to death’s door.

Fortunately, the penalties of the cosmic competition were still a strong deterrent; otherwise they, no, he would have died today.

The death of a leader would incur a penalty equivalent to thirty percent of the entire team’s massacre.

Without it, a leader could easily be assassinated and then take over the rest of the team with ease.

“We’ll see each other again, if fate allows…”

Thanking his status, Ryfin quickly called his men hidden in the darkness to retreat.

—

On the way back to their shelter, Nash saw through the [Map Module] that the Asskar Team had truly retreated,

“It seems this strategy works quite well.” Nash smiled, satisfied with the result.

Attacking the enemy leader and killing a few to show their power had sold the act perfectly.

Although he was confident they could defeat the enemy head-on, he didn’t want any casualties on their side either.

Every death could weaken their morale, an important resource in this place.

“Let’s go and get our price…”
