Chapter 287: Virtual Branch of Covenant of Truth
“Then how can I repay you?” Nash insisted.
“Fine, if you want to repay me, consider it a favor,” Ferrin said with a smile.
Although he wasn’t sure what privileges Nash gained after becoming a scientist, based on the swift evaluation, they should be pretty high.
Having a potential high-tier scientist owe him a favour was a significant win for Ferrin.
“That works. I’ll remember this favor,” Nash said, smiling.
Though he knew this was Ferrin’s true intention, befriending such a person wasn’t a loss.
Besides, whatever favour Ferrin might ask, Nash could decide whether to act on it.
With a mutual understanding, they dove into discussions about runic weapons, runic language, weapon structures, scientific research, and more.
As hours passed, they parted reluctantly, still brimming with topics to explore.
“Unfortunately, I still had many things to do.”
“No worries, little friend. Just visit me after you return from the cosmic competition.”
“Gladly…”
Waving goodbye, Nash returned to his battleship and flew back to Auralis 1.
—
Back at his house, Nash took a quick rest before heading to the Dark Plane.
He had already purchased supplies, processed his runic items, and worked on the module systems.
All that remained was upgrading the severance knife and deducing the soul condensation manual.
Arriving at the Dark Plane’s Tier 5 Purple-level shelter, Nash headed straight for the danger zone.
With his two Tier 5 runic defensive items, Nash grew bolder, diving into the densest horde of Tier 3 dark beasts.
Facing Tier 4 and 5 dark beasts, Nash took them down one by one, while prioritizing his targets.
As for lord-level dark beasts, lacking the attack power to kill them quickly, Nash could only dodge.
—
Three days later, the severance knife successfully advanced to Tier 3.
[Severance Knife (Tier 3): A conceptual weapon that can cut anything at or below the Tier 4 realm. Note: Can be interfered with by ordinary materials at higher ranks.]
“Huh, this’ll do for now!” Nash decided.
After killing a few Tier 4 dark beasts, he estimated it would take about ten million more to upgrade the knife to Tier 4.
With only twelve days left before departure, there wasn’t enough time to upgrade it before the cosmic competition.
Being able to cut any quality of dark beast at or below the Tier 4 realm was sufficient for now.
Nash could just grind it to another level during the cosmic competition.
Though it was more dangerous and unpredictable, he had no other choice.
Walking back to the shelter, Nash returned to the real world.
—
“Now what?”
Back at his residence, Nash ate a feast while pondering his next move.
Part of his mind was still deducing the soul condensation manual, and the Virtual Assistant still hadn’t finished its calculations.
Checking his intercom for his teammates, he found no one had yet to return.
“Hmm? I haven’t visited the Virtual Branch of the Covenant of Truth yet,” Nash suddenly recalled.
He hadn’t gone before because, first, he lacked the independent contribution points used for transactions there.
Second, he simply hadn’t had time for a mere tour.
Now, with nothing urgent to do, Nash decided to check it out.
Finishing his meal, he logged into the virtual world.
—
Arriving at his private space, Nash navigated the various exclusive virtual servers he had access to.
“That’s it!”
Scrolling through the list, Nash instantly found what he was looking for.
[Do you want to transfer to Solaris Branch – Covenant of Truth?]
“Proceed.”
Confirming the transfer, Nash felt a strange sensation, unlike his usual transfers within the Nova Server.
As if his soul was being squeezed, pulled, and tossed into a whirlwind of colours, Nash grew so dizzy he nearly vomited.
As the light stabilized and the sound of bustling chatter filled his ears, Nash quickly regained his composure.
Not wanting to embarrass himself, he swiftly blended into the crowd and left the transfer point.
“So this is the Covenant of Truth…”
Exiting the transfer point, Nash finally got a good look at the place.
The area was filled with Byzantine-like architecture with gigantic round domes adorned with mosaics depicting runes, elements, and laws.
Like a land from an ancient fairy tale blended with arcane knowledge, Nash felt awestruck as he looked around.
Moreover, as the hub for all scientists in the Solaris Domain, Nash saw a diverse array of human species.
From tall to short, thin to sturdy, floating to walking, green to white, biological to mechanical, elemental to other unique traits, Nash was truly astounded by how broad the definition of “human” was.
It seemed that as long as it had arms, legs, or a head, it qualified as human.
Of course, Nash knew it was based on their core genetic structure.
Though each differed in appearance, they shared the same essence and origin.
In short, as long as it had a humanoid shape and lived within the Chronos Empire, it was considered human.
As for other Cosmic Territories, Nash had heard that other cosmic empires were occupied by insect races, Mechanical Life, void creatures, elemental beings, plant creatures, sea creatures, Ancient Ones, Innate Beings, Conscious Treasures, and more.
Opening the virtual map of the place, Nash took his time exploring as he headed toward the library.
Although most knowledge required contribution points, he was surprised to discover that a lot of general and low-tier knowledge was free to browse.
He also learned that he could privately trade with others using regular currency for their personal reserves and inherited knowledge.
Travelling leisurely, Nash passed various scenic spots, markets, and unique places, exploring everything with his eyes.
Listening to conversations of the crowd, soaking in the diverse cultures, tasting different foods, and catching snippets of gossip and news, time slipped by.
—
A day later, realizing he wasn’t even close to his destination, Nash operated the panel and teleported directly to the library.
As an internal user, he no longer needed to go to transfer points or teleportation stations.
With internal permissions, he could pick a place and materialize there instantly.
Arriving at the massive, seemingly endless library, Nash was full of anticipation.
“I wonder if this place has something new that could help me…”
