Chapter 278: Earth Status (2)
Hearing the details of everything that had happened on Earth, Nash was astonished.

Earth had truly changed, even without his guidance.

From a desolate planet, it had risen from the ashes, beginning to climb to the top of civilizations.

“But what happened at the Lantern Shelter? Everyone seemed quite wary of outsiders,” Nash said.

“What? You visited the Lantern Shelter?” Julius wasn’t shocked that Nash had gone there, but that he could enter.

As he recalled, the last time they spoke, Nash was already at Void Commander rank.

After so long, he might have even reached Void General rank.

“Don’t worry about me; I have my ways. Just tell me what happened at the Lantern Shelter, or rather, what happened to our people when they settled in the Dark Plane,” Nash said with a glint in his eyes.

The people’s wariness couldn’t have come from nowhere.

Recalling how peace-loving and friendly his people were, Nash could only imagine something had caused them to grow so cautious.

“This… I’m not sure who’s behind it. But a year ago, while we were minding our own business, countless people began dying while hunting in the danger zones.”

“That shouldn’t be surprising, given the risks of those places. But when we noticed not a single person came out alive, we started to suspect someone was targeting us.”

“Sure enough, after setting a trap, we found various squads hunting our people!”

“In fury, we retaliated and warned everyone entering the shelter that if they dared to venture out, they’d better be ready to face the consequences!” Julius narrated with a cold voice.

Though they didn’t find the masterminds behind the attack, they eliminated every bastard who targeted their people.

But while revenge was satisfying, it came with severe consequences.

First, they were ostracized not only by various organizations but also by lone squads across the Dark Plane.

If not for Nash’s connections with the Star Tower and the Verdant Group, they might not even have access to basic potions and resources.

Arthur’s additional layer of influence also shielded them from those righteous institutions condemning their ruthless killings and monopoly on the shelter.

As for the Nova Government, as long as everyone followed their rules, they couldn’t care less.

Skirmishes were just training, honing each civilization’s and individual’s adaptability.

Overall, despite being ostracized by nearly everyone, they still led a thriving life.

With their number of Void Warriors, Earth even managed to monopolize 25 beginner-level shelters.

Perhaps the only ones truly struggling were those who advanced to Void Commander Rank too quickly.

Without Earth’s backing in the Dark Plane, they had to venture alone and hide from those who targeted them.

Listening to Julius’s words, Nash felt a spark of anger.

Though little harm was done overall, his people had still been killed.

“Who do you think is behind this? Any guesses?” Nash asked.

Julius’s talent for politics was unmatched, not knowing the culprits just likely meant no evidence was found.

With his meticulous mind, he should have had some suspicions.

“There are a few suspects,” Julius said.

“First, our neighboring planetary civilizations. Though we aren’t rich compared to the Nova Sector, we likely stir some jealousy and even greed among our neighbors.”

“Next is the Arlean Civilization. Though they acknowledge our existence and have even offered generous compensation before, we don’t know what their real nature is behind the scenes.”

“Finally, President, you must’ve offended some power by being so dazzling that it overwhelms everyone,” Julius said with a chuckle.

Hearing Julius’s three guesses, Nash couldn’t help but frown.

The first guess seemed possible but highly unlikely.

If a planetary civilization could be jealous of a mere start-up like Earth, they wouldn’t have the means to hire those desperados from the Dark Plane.

Living on a knife’s edge their whole lives, those desperados wouldn’t risk offending a civilization without substantial reward.

The third guess was also improbable. Though Nash outshone everyone in the Seeded Talent Program, their relationship was still good.

Even Skylar would spar with him and share insights from time to time.

Plus, if anyone harbored malice, Nash could sense it through the movements of their runic program.

So, of the three, only the Arlean Civilization could have caused harm.

“It seems you have a guess too, President,” Julius said with a knowing smile.

“You brat, why go through all this trouble? If you suspected the Arlean Civilization, no need to beat around the bush!” Nash scolded, realizing Julius had only one real guess from the start.

“No, since there’s a possibility, I had to include the others,” Julius replied with a playful grin.

“Alright, enough. Have you pinpointed who’s behind this? Just give me a name,” Nash said, his voice tinged with coldness.

The Arlean Civilization was too massive that he couldn’t blame them as a whole.

Even Earth, small as it was, had many factions. Naturally, a top civilization that oversaw the Nova Sector’s rise would have far more.

Furthermore, Nash wasn’t a maniac who’d massacre an entire civilization over a few skirmishes.

Besides, he had good ties with several Arlean talents, from Julian, their top prodigy, Lanster, an heir to the richest Arlean family, and Zypr, a grandson of an Arlean Grand Ambassador.

The Arlean Civilization was truly a powerhouse, occupying over a dozen spots in the Seeded Talent Program.

Though over a year and a half ago, they weren’t so close, the Arlean Civilization already acknowledged Nash’s strength and even mobilized their people to apologize after learning what had happened.

Besides the resources and the apology they offered, the people behind Earth’s suppression were all killed and disposed of.

Having survived for so long, the Arlean Civilization knew how to conduct itself.

They understood who they could offend, who to bow to, and who to suppress.

Though they hadn’t fully witnessed Nash’s talent before, his performance in training still caught their attention.

Cutting off the hands that reached for Earth, countless families and organizations had been destroyed just to appease him.

Even Camilla dispelled most of her hatred as she watched the enemies who suppressed Earth tortured to death.

Considering this gesture of appeasement, Nash held back his resentment, planning to retaliate only against the mastermind who harmed them.
