Chapter 450: Chapter 450: Cries of relief. Cries of uncertainty.
Chapter 450 – Cries of relief. Cries of uncertainty.

The very appearance of Noah made the others — both his wives, Origins, and even Luelle and the Legacy Bearers — look at him the way mortals would look at a god.

They felt something primordial rolling out from him, making them feel small.

Unconsciously, they licked their lips, realizing only now how dry they were.

The Prince stood there, taller than before, his golden-crimson hair fluttering behind him like a sea formed at the intersection of both heaven and hell.

His skin was smooth and luminous, his two mismatched golden and crimson eyes able to make even Luelle instinctively lower her gaze in trepidation.

Selene was the first to feel something drastic inside herself. Before, there had been a sense of pull she felt from Maryam — the kind metal would feel around a magnet.

But now none of that was happening to her.

She felt free, as if somehow her existence was no longer a part of Maryam, but complete on its own, unique to herself.

She looked dazedly at the Soul Ruler, still kneeling on the ground, not even budging — not even a twitch — afraid of catching Maryam’s attention.

A useless attempt, though.

While Providence was screaming inside Noah’s head, bellowing about how he could make her the Will of his territory identical to the Records, Maryam turned her head toward Selene and strode forward.

Her steps made no sound. Yet they seemed to echo loudly inside everyone’s mind.

Unease bubbled within them.

The wives shifted their stances, tightening their protection around Selene.

“Soul Ruler or not,” Appolonia began, glaring at Maryam with arrogance etched into her very soul, “you will not touch Selene.”

“Don’t make us fight you,” Elira tittered, Justicia following, “you are Noah’s mother, after all.”

“Noah?” Maryam chuckled, still walking toward them, unbothered by their threats. “His name is Brandon. Didn’t I say it? Noah was nothing but a false name to hide his true essence.”

“Who cares?” Red cackled, Anya beside her. “To you it might be fake, dear mother-in-law, but to us…”

Ester continued smoothly, “…there is nothing more real than Noah Vaelgrim, our husband.”

Maryam finally halted her steps, craning her neck to the side in sudden realization.

Behind them, Noah watched the scene quietly.

Suddenly, he felt something.

Lowering his head, his eyes rested on Lea, Neko, and Lucie hugging his legs and chest.

After sacrificing everything they had to follow him into the Spirit World, they had lost their transformation powers.

You could see in their eyes how painfully they wished to mount him in those forms.

With a slow smile, Noah stretched out his hands and touched each of them.

“Was it hard, sweethearts?”

With a simple touch, they transmuted. Neko into a cat, Lea into a cute dog, and Lucie into a crow.

They blurred into motion and occupied their respective spots.

Next, their answers brushed against Noah’s ears as they watched the scene unfolding before them.

“It was hard, Master-Husband,” Lea barked, licking his left cheek affectionately.

“Nothing too hard for you, Noah,” Neko meowed, caressing his right cheek with her own.

“It was an interesting new experience,” Lucie crowed, prickling Noah’s scalp lovingly.

The Prince’s lips curled upward.

“You have done well. More than you believe. You have lost your powers, but sometimes you need to lose something to gain something better.”

“You will be fine.”

“We never doubted,” they said in unison. “We never doubted you, Husband.”

And even now, with his new appearance, they never doubted.

Still…

‘You should have,’ Noah thought wryly.

Then he shook his head, lifting his gaze back to Maryam and his other wives.

“Noah, huh?” she said, then focused on Selene. “Meaning, you have raised Noah. I have raised Brandon. He is the same person, yet we have known him under different lights.”

She smiled.

“And now, he is different once more. He seems to be something more than he was. He is Brandon. He is Noah. He is something entirely new. Do you know what that means?”

Her question was meant only for Selene.

The others had begun to relax, seeing Noah watching and the peaceful aura emanating from Maryam. Clearly, the woman had no intention of absorbing Selene anymore.

Luminara was puzzled by the why.

Nonetheless, that realization made the wives suddenly feel tired, the pressure and adrenaline wearing off.

All they wanted now was to join Noah in a tight, warm hug. The kind that would obliterate all the bad feelings threatening to drown their minds.

Some of them — like Red, Anya, Christelle, Alice, Emmy, and Virgo — didn’t shy away from it. They needed it.

Others decided to stay with Selene, watching her as color began to return to her face.

“What does it mean?” Selene inquired, her voice soft.

“It means it’s like having a baby once more,” Maryam answered. “One we barely knew about. A weird analogy, but that’s the closest to it. And a baby needs parents. Noah doesn’t have a father. He will never have one.”

Maryam smiled evilly.

“I made sure to send to oblivion the one who fooled me back on Earth, after eons of torture.”

The wives smiled evilly with her.

“He didn’t have a father,” Maryam continued. “But do you know what he has?”

“Two mothers,” Selene answered swiftly this time, a smile creeping onto her face without her noticing.

“Yes,” the Soul Ruler said, now only an inch from her.

She extended her hand to the still-kneeling Selene. “And our son is quite a problematic one. I believe two mothers are needed.”

Selene giggled, extending her own hand to grasp Maryam’s. “Finally, someone who understands the difficulty of raising someone like Noah.”

She finally stood up, facing Maryam face to face. The First Soul was taller, but at that moment they looked at each other not as ruler and subordinate.

Nor as creator and created.

But as two mothers who impossibly loved their son in a way never seen before.

Still, one thing needed to be cleared.

“I like to be called Mother,” Maryam said.

“So do I,” Selene retorted.

They paused, looking at each other, then…

“We need distinctions,” they said in unison, before beginning to argue and discuss, trying to find a middle ground on how Noah should call them.

Meanwhile, the wives were all over Noah, hugging him so tightly that Noah felt like his very existence was being squeezed dry.

He allowed himself a smile, feeling the overwhelming relief pouring out of them.

Yet his smile was edged with sadness too, knowing the burden and pain they must have gone through, and the trauma they still carried.

The battles against the Origins and the Legacy Bearers were ones where all of them had been humbled and broken.

They had felt how utterly weak they were. How they were not yet worthy to claim the title of Conquerors.

They might be feared now. But not because they were strong, only because they were madwomen who had sacrificed everything for a single victory.

There was a kind of courage in that action. But to the wives, that courage had only been possible because of Noah.

Without him doing it first, never would they have done it.

At the end, were they really courageous?

They were not.

They were simply afraid to live a life where Noah was no more.

So they followed him.

Only that.

Now that the tension had melted away, doubt crept in.

Were they worthy? Could they truly keep up with Noah? What if something like this happened again? Would sacrificing their existence be of any use then?

All these questions echoed inside their minds, making them tremble like naked mortals in winter.

They bit their lips, doing their best not to weep in front of their enemies.

But it was hard.

Ah, and it became even harder when Noah embraced them protectively, saying nothing at first, then only a few words.

“You honored yourselves. You honored the bloodline. You honored me.”

“So cry if you wish. Let out everything poisoning your mind and soul. And let me tell you something, my ladies…”

His voice dropped into a whisper.

“I am proud to be your husband.”

They hugged him tighter, choked cries erupting slowly — cries of relief, cries of uncertainty.

Noah’s voice lowered even further, so low they had to strain to hear it.

“And I hope you are proud of me, too.”
