Chapter 449: Chapter 449: The Will
Chapter 449 – The Will

“What?”

Maryam was surprised, looking at her son with worried eyes.

Her soulless white eyes began to tear up, then slowly, she began to touch Noah’s head from all sides in sporadic motion.

“Are you truly okay?” she asked, voice wavering. “What happened to you? Did you lose your mind? Oh, Soul Rot! Where? Where—!”

“Mother,” Noah’s calm and descending voice brought Maryam to a standstill.

Instinctively, she closed her eyes, exhaled through both her nose and mouth, then relaxed.

Noah was caressing peacefully the hand that was on his head.

He smiled faintly, his mismatched eyes glowing with profound luster. “Nothing happened to me,” he said, craning his neck, then correcting himself.

“Well, nothing to worry about, at least.”

“But then what?” Maryam inquired, now calmer.

She had felt Noah manipulating all the souls in her possession. But somehow, her souls were still with her.

Did she dream it? Maryam knew she didn’t.

With her level of power, it was impossible for her mind to be so muddled that she would dream with eyes wide open.

So what happened?

Seeing the worried and questioning gaze of his mother, Noah felt compelled to tell her.

In any case, he had no reason to hide the event that had just occurred. Maryam was his mother, and he planned to give her his bloodline—if she was willing, of course.

But before all of that, there was one thing he needed to do.

‘Wearing some clothes, maybe?’ Gaia suddenly interjected, her voice holding a note of amusement she desperately tried to hide.

Only then did Noah actually notice that he was, in fact, naked.

Maryam was looking at him, but her eyes couldn’t help but somehow dart below, reaching toward his lower body.

He spared it a glance, and he became afraid of himself. Yet it seemed to not hold the same effect for Maryam.

She spared it a glance worthy of a kid looking at her favorite candy.

Noah almost imagined hearing his mother gulp mouthfuls of saliva.

It must be me, he thought briefly.

‘But why?’ Noah said to Gaia. ‘I thought you would like the view.’

‘Do you realize who you are talking to?’

‘My mother?’

‘Ye—! I mean, no! I am the Will Eternal,’ she corrected. ‘Why should I care about nudity?’

‘Don’t challenge me. Do you want me to give you some things to watch? I am good at displaying myself.’

‘You are bolder now,’ Gaia said, unable to mask her amused feelings. ‘Just because you got such a bloodline? Shall I teach you humility?’

‘As my mother?’

‘If your other two are too blind and obsessed with you to do their job properly, I shall take it upon myself.’

Noah allowed a faint smile.

‘Sacrificing yourself for the greater good?’

‘Someone must do it. And only I could do it.’

‘Shouldn’t I thank you, then?’

‘Start by wearing something,’ she snickered. ‘Your mother is drooling.’

Noah shifted his mesmerizing eyes through his sockets and stared at Maryam.

The beautiful mother was actually drooling.

Maryam was not even looking at him anymore. Her hand was still caressing his head absentmindedly, but she gathered most of her attention on his lower body.

She seemed to muster the highest willpower to control her urge to jump on him.

Noah watched with amusement.

‘You are leaving no one untouched, aren’t you?’ Gaia asked, unbothered by Noah’s degeneracy.

‘I have done it once,’ Noah said, almost like a shrug, before slowly getting up.

With his movement, Maryam gathered herself.

‘Eons after eons without a man,’ Maryam thought bitterly. ‘Eons after eons with only my son in my mind. It seems I have been holding such a thing inside of me.’

She was deeply ashamed, her face red as she looked away from her son.

Her desire was too strong. And only Noah was the outlet of it.

Yet she couldn’t, even if she knew Selene was her son’s wife.

She bitterly cursed herself.

Noah, meanwhile, was already standing straight. Her mother exclaimed at how tall he was.

He raised his right hand, slow and methodical, and touched the fog around him with the tip of his finger.

With a simple touch, the information and properties of the fog came to mind. A diagram appeared inside his mind, riddled with complex signs and equations.

Noah understood it at a glance. With a simple twist of his wrist, the fog transmuted into grey clothes thanks to his Atoms manipulation.

A simple shirt covered his chest, followed by matching trousers.

Maryam sighed softly in disappointment.

‘Thank you,’ Noah said what he wanted to say before being interrupted by Gaia. ‘Thank you for your help.’

Gaia fell silent.

Inside her own realm, surrounded by small water pools and her creations, the Mother of Mothers couldn’t suppress a smile creeping at the edge of her lips.

It seemed, she thought, that it was the first time a being had actually thanked her.

It felt weird.

Usually, they all feared her or worshiped her. Or both. Those who knew of her existence, of course. Even The Records were no exception.

But there were those like the Son of Emptiness who had no reason to thank her.

So it was refreshing and pleasing to have Noah. He didn’t fear her, not anymore. And he didn’t worship her either.

Instead, he liked to banter with her, provoking her even.

Her smile widened. For a moment, she wondered if that was what it felt like to have a child.

Or simply…to have a family.

And not followers or subordinates.

She shook her head and then, with a forced scowl, ‘You should bow to me and thank me!’

Noah chuckled, making Maryam glance his way, her left eyebrow raised quizzically.

‘I don’t mind bowing to my mother. Do you want—!’

‘I am not your mother!’ she growled, and then Noah felt her connection with him snap.

He barked a laugh.

“Have you gone mad?” Maryam asked, taking in his new appearance. “And you still didn’t tell me what happened to you. And what is this new sight of you.”

Noah’s laughter slowly died. He smiled, approached her, and rolled his arm around Maryam’s shoulders.

Then he explained.

He didn’t go into deep details, just the outline of it.

Noah didn’t forget to tell Maryam about his unique power to obtain the power of those who wished to bind to him.

It was something he planned to tell his wives. And he had no reason to hide it from Maryam.

After that, the Soul Ruler began to understand more of what happened, inwardly impressed by Noah’s unique power.

As Maryam digested the information, Noah took that window of time to inspect his new bloodline in deeper depths. And his new self, too.

Afterward, he inspected his Gift. There, he scratched his head in puzzlement.

[Gift — Ignoramus: You know nothing. And because you don’t know, you will know. And if you don’t wish to know, and others to not know, then nothing shall be known.]

Noah read the description of the Gift over and over again.

He had some ideas of what it could mean, but he still needed to test it to be sure.

‘That will be for later,’ he thought. ‘I have taken enough time already. My wives must be worried.’

And he didn’t doubt he had caused enough disturbances because of his bloodline creation.

Surely, the other Soul Rulers and even the Spirit World’s Will must have been altered.

So he needed to conclude this. And he would do so by integrating his wives into his power.

<What is your idea?> Providence asked.

‘With my bloodline, each one of my wives will awaken an Aspect of Reality and a Gift.’

<Yes.>

‘And I have my First Authority, which is Name.’

<Indeed.>

‘Then I will create a unique position for them called Paragon. Each of my wives will awaken an Aspect, a Gift, and I will name them with the distinction of Paragon added to their specialty.’

‘They will be above anyone in both my bloodline and my system of Bound.’

The Ruler and his Paragons.

<How will they progress?> Providence asked, excited by the idea.

‘How else?’ Noah smiled. ‘By achievements.’

Then…

‘Providence,’ he called out.

<Yes?>

‘You will be my Records,’ Noah decided, and without giving Providence time to process such huge words, he turned to face his mother.

She was already looking at him.

Noah grinned.

“Mother, let’s go,” he said, extending his hand toward her. “If you are willing, you will start the bloodline process with my wives.”

She grasped it with a smile.

“How could I not be willing?” She pulled him toward her with frightening force.

Noah let himself be pulled, and just when he hit her chest…

The realm dissipated like fog, and they came back to the meeting room.

There, Providence’s voice echoed deep inside Noah’s skull, still thick with confusion.

<What do you mean, Records, Noah?>

‘You don’t like the name?’ Noah said, then, with a faint smile as his wives looked at his new appearance in shock and awe, ‘Then let’s call you something else.’

He landed on the hard surface.

‘The Will.’

He grinned.

‘You will be The Will of my territory, darling.’

Imperceptibly, Reality pulsed, sensing the beginning of something unheard of.

Something that would be the beginning of another beginning.

And another.

And…

Another.

Thus,

The Wheel began to turn.
