Chapter 444 – Primordial Ruler System
DING!
Noah’s chest throbbed. An invisible and primordial power spilled out from him, spreading and piercing reality all around.
The whole Dominion of Maryam became dead silent, as if a pause button had been pressed. It didn’t last long.
Next, drum-like sounds bloomed outward, shaking the very foundations of the Dominion.
The First Soul took an unconscious step back. Her other leg lifted, about to kiss the floor, backward fashion.
That action never saw its ending.
She stood still like a sculpture of a goddess made to be admired and worshiped, with her grey skin, her soulless white eyes, and stunning face.
Her head was crowned by six horns that pointed to the sky in defiance…all of these made it a sight to behold.
Yet Noah was not focused on it. His purple eyes were darting all over the place, settling on his wives and his enemies.
All of them were in a frozen state.
Understanding came to him. Before his jaw cracked open to speak, Providence’s voice rang inside his head.
<The Primordial Ruler System is fully active.>
She said, then continued smoothly, her voice sweet like musk and soft like baby skin,
<The System is a unique power created by you. You are its sole owner. It will give you power, but at the same time, a way to rank up.>
Noah listened carefully, all while admiring how the system could make this space frozen in time.
He blinked rapidly, deciding to focus instead,
“How will I rank up?” He inquired.
<Just like how you were supposed to rank up.>
“Meaning?”
<By being a ruler, Noah.> Providence said as if it was obvious. Which it was, to be honest.
<You level by being a ruler. But all rulers are not equal. And any ruler must start low and steadily climb the ladder.>
<Which is your case.>
Without giving Noah time to properly understand, she continued mercilessly,
<The stages are: Lord of Harmony, Duke of Cloud, Prince of Sky, King, Emperor.>
Noah arched an eyebrow, recognizing the names of the Seeds the Records had gifted him.
<You are at the stage: Lord of Harmony.>
Then another panel flickered into existence just beside the current one,
<Stage: Lord of Harmony>
<Manifestation: Ring of Renown.>
<First Authority: Name of Renown— You can name yourself and your subordinates. All names are tied to you. Be careful, for giving a name means giving away a destiny.>
<Unique Skill: Binder — You can bind anything and anyone to you. Binding an existence would have a part of their existence reside with you, in your Ring of Renown. You would gain enhancement and power from them.>
<Aspect: Harmony — Bindings are smoother. You can sense disharmony within you and those around you. Your existence naturally brings things into a harmonious state.>
Providence finally paused, and there Noah sensed something.
He craned his head inwardly, staring at his left hand. On the middle finger of it, a coiling and swirling energy of purple was wrapping around it.
It ended soon, and Noah felt something cold hugging his finger. Something like steel on skin.
The energy dissipated like a ghost under the morning sun, and there, the Prince saw a ring. The sight of it was beautiful.
The ring was white, with something like a precious crystal atop it, shining in purple. Along the body of the ring was a strange language.
Yet he could read it and speak it.
It was one of the languages Old Man Tree had taught him when he asked him, back in Gaia’s realm.
Yet even if he could read it, he didn’t understand the meaning behind it.
“What is this ring?” Noah asked, drawing his hand closer to look at it more carefully.
He tried to take it off. But he couldn’t. It felt like a part of him, sensing the connection between them.
<That is your manifestation of authority at the Lord stage. A ruler is one who has regalia. The ring is the first piece. The rest will follow as you progress.>
<And also, Noah,> she called out to him, <You need to choose your Sigil and your Motto. That is what the ring is asking in the Gaia language.>
Gaia language…Noah’s thoughts drifted to his third mother. His attention was pulled back by Providence’s words.
<You are a ruler. You must have something to be known for. Something unique to you.>
‘Interesting.’ Noah thought, grinning. ‘I already like this system. But I still cannot choose. I shall wait and listen to my wives’ opinions about it.’
He decided.
Still, there was one question scratching annoyingly at the back of his head,
“How do I bind someone?”
<Binding requires the consent of the bound.>
Noah instantly frowned.
<A ruler is one people choose to follow willingly. You must be one beings are ready to lay their life for a look of you. That’s something you can only gain by earning their loyalty and their consent.>
<Mind manipulation is but a fake thing. It will weaken you.>
“Aren’t you making things unnecessarily difficult?”
<Power always has a price.>
Providence’s voice was cold, despite being soft and loving.
<Your price was cheaper, and still is, because of your system. But there is always a hidden cost.>
“That I admit.” Noah sighed. “Now, how do I progress?”
<From Lord to Duke, you only need to choose a small territory and make all people inside your followers. The territory could be a kingdom, a continent, or even…>
Noah could have sworn that at that point, Providence was smirking mischievously.
<…or even a Dominion of a Soul Ruler.>
Noah’s face split into an open smile, teeth bared into a wolfish grin.
“Isn’t that convenient?” He whispered. “Did I just not receive the consent of a person?”
<Yes. But let me do my job, darling.>
“I am sorry, love. Please continue.”
Providence chuckled.
<Yes. The First Soul has accepted your rule. So she has implicitly, but willingly, accepted to bind herself to you. To your own will.>
<You will obtain staggering enhancement and power from her. The power can be anything, as long as she has it. And the number of powers you can take from her is proportional to how much her devotion runs for you.>
“I can choose a bloodline?”
<Anything.>
“I can choose her title?”
<Anything.>
“Her own rank?”
<Yes. But it will be an additional enhancement of all aspects of you. Not the actual rank. It is no longer your path.>
Noah slowly began to understand how the system worked. And he realized it was heavily influenced by his past system.
If the past needed the affection of women, this time he needed the willingness of a being to ensure his power.
But that was only the first stage, Lord of Harmony. He was eager to know what Duke of Cloud would be.
A whisper of a smile smeared his face, and his ring flashed a mesmerizing purple light, matching his mood.
“I want one thing the most at this point.” He said, looking at his frozen wives. “I need a bloodline. My own bloodline. I have lost the Elysiari bloodline. Sacrificed and never to be regained again.”
He exhaled through his nose, swallowing back annoyance.
“But first, before I bind my mother, let’s ask her. And let’s find a way through this particular situation.”
<As you will, husband.>
The ring flashed again. This time bright enough to stop the paused time of the Dominion of Maryam.
‘Can you do this for all the Spirit World?’ Noah asked as he watched people regaining their mobility.
<Only if all the rulers and the Will accept your rule.>
‘I see.’ Noah answered dryly before focusing on his puzzled mother.
